- In this special two-part episode, we see if we can get this basket case of a Chevy squarebody K5 Blazer 2wd up and running and try to determine if it should and can be saved or just sent to the scrap yard! It could be a cool new project or a complete waste of money, either way we need to dig in and make a call. Follow along and see for yourself!

Definitely worth the save. I have a Factory 2WD 82 Blazer. The last year they were made. They are hard to find and if you decide to sell it... it will bring a premium return. As far as the motor, I'd pull it and see if it can be saved. If you are wanting to do a stock rebuild.
I think I’m with you!
I usually don't put a numbers matching numbers motor back in... if i am driving something and pull motor for whatever reason, I just drop something in there that runs and save the numbers matching parts to put back in if I sell
Makes sense! Thanks!
Hopefully they can salvage the block, go from there. looking forward to another build.
Yeah I hope so too! Thanks for watching!
A can of fix-a-flat and some ape tape and you’re golden 👍🏼 and that’s not a license plate, the correct term is patch panel. 😅
lol, that’s right!
Awesome truck! Cant wait to see the progress on this. I have a 1977 2WD GMC Jimmy w/ 1984 front clip next in line in my projects.
You know what time it is...Hammer time!! 🤘
Love the content, keep it coming!
Thanks so much!
Love k5 content. I have 7. My 74 i bought is only 2wd I ever owned. Only has body, frame and suspension... no wiring, no motor, no trans. Missing passenger door and missing hood...
Thanks for watching!
I have an air tank i use to air up my flats... one of best investment i have made. Harbor freight probably
You have become my favorite went back and caught up on your videos. Can't wait to see more.
That’s awesome, thanks!
Sm465 4 speed? Good find
This needs to be the tow pig for Ratmaro
I’m kinda liking that idear!
❤🎉hermosa k5 tuve una fue mi primer blazer❤❤❤❤❤❤saludos desde Laredo
Hola! Gracias por mirar!
I think that shroud is for 6 cyl... it is very wide looking
Woo hoo, another project 🙌love it👍🤟😁
Thanks, looking forward to it!
fill the block with Bs1 it will clear that rust like it does your pipes
😂😂😂
You know rhe crank is just as rusted if not worse. Are you prepared to dump 2k+ into rebuilding that engine? Find a vortec 350 from a 96 to 98 silverado, tahoe or express van. Cam swap.and cut the guides for the bigger cam. 400 hp 2wd k5
There’s a thought! Thanks!
You cleaned it up nicely, Sell it now and work on the ratmaro
Think I’m keeping this one too!
I comment as i watch videos... with motor lovked up, motors are cheap... i found a 305 for $150 with $500 worth of parts with it... i bought 74 350 with less than 60,000 miles for $350... i dont rebuild motors, costs too much.
Kinda with you there…
I say since it's trashed, time to get and upgraded engine. :)
I like where your head’s at friend!
Always a save!
Allrighty then.
Anybody that doesn't save these K-5 Blazer. There just don't have the substance to be a car guy.
Fair enough!
Hell yea Hammer time!
Yep, time to git after it! Thanks for watching!
@@hammersgarage I love watching your content you crack me up lol but I like how you accomplish the work reminds me of my dad I grew up doing what you’re doing. Thanks
@@ShaneLewis-n2o that’s great man, thanks for watching!
Save.👍🏻
Refresh the motor and sell it to me.
lol, we’ll see!
Yep . . . . yes it is. That's what we call a money pit.
I fear you are correct!
What do ya think ernie? Hoooly shit!😂😂😂😂
Yeah he’s a trip!
@hammersgarage hopefully you'll get in running again, I'll be waiting for next video to drop..👍🏻👍🏻
It'd be a good candidate for converting to 4wd, much more valuable as 4wd I would think.
No it's not. The majority of these trucks are 4wd, 2wd is rare and hard to find.
Maybe we can get the look without the hassle and expense?
