I actually did a lot of trouble shooting after this video and uncovered that something is wrong with v4 and v5 of the preamp. New tubes in V5 cause the volume drop the old tubes in V5 will make the amp functional but just brings me back to square 1 Gooz 🦖
Yeah it sucks I understand your frustration, but sometimes that is the price of good juicy tube amp tone! I hope everything works out well for you bro!! Real shame the amp turn out to have issues!
@dalepiwek yeah I did. I ended up having to get the Amp service twice but it's up and running and sounding great. It needed the capacitos changed and to be biased and had some other things wrong with it but it's finally back to sounding how it should. Gooz 🦖
Volume drop usually means a tube blew. You can check if they are all glowing? Also not sure how difficult they made it to bias the voltage. -Should always bias new tubes, if it's set too hot they'll blow. Wonder if the crackling happens on the other channel(s) also.
Thx my man. I love each one of these axes. Some more than others but I do love them all. I'm in the process of getting them all hooked up the way I like them. Gooz

since you swapped the powertubes, you should bring it to a tech for setting the tube bias anyway, so have him take a look at the thing. these things are round about 40 years old, things age and break. hope you get it sorted out. good luck.
@Dreadful Gooz bro, for real, that's just what it sounds like. Te lo juro! I should film my 1987 JCM800, thing is in mint condition. Sounds better now that it has the HotMod V2, but without it, it sounds like your 2210.
It seams to me a problem on the power section of the amp since the volume dropped, either the new tubes are faulty or a socket is broken, how did you bias the power amp tubes?
I actually did a lot of trouble shooting after this video and uncovered that something is wrong with v4 and v5 of the preamp. New tubes in V5 cause the volume drop the old tubes in V5 will make the amp functional but just brings me back to square 1 Gooz 🦖
Hey my tech fixed it and it sounds great now but unfortunately as of last night it crashed again. This time I believe it's a simple fix I believe the fuse needs to be swapped out and then we should be good to go again. Did you bias the power tubes mate? Maybe a good idea, your tubes will last longer and your tone will be alot better if you do!! Mesa unless modded have a fixed bias but Marshall need that biasing! Give your sockets a spray with contact cleaner and push tubes in and out a few times as well (make sure head is off!)
Hey brother this was a matched set and it was Biased correctly. Also I did spray and clean the sockets (shown in another video) I figured out that it wasn't the power section luckily. It is an issue with the tube sockets V4 and V5. The head has been to a tech and I'm waiting to get it back. Hopefully I can get it back this week because I am dying to play the amp. Gooz
Hey brother check out the new video I just put up. I just got the marshall back. And I'm loving it but it's still got a noisy effects loop so I'm going to try and see what can be done to fix that. Gooz 🦖
Bring the head in to a shop and have it biased and checked out. Who knows what was happening with those mismatched tubes in there? Or what someone may have done to "mod" the amp.
The amp is definitely stock but yeah I agree with you man. I think these mismatched tubes definitely played a role in how this amp currently is. The head had been at a Tech's shop for quite sometime now so hopefully it will be finished soon. Gooz
Deoxit on the tube sockets first. With new power tubes you'll want to get it biased as well, but that shouldn't cause the volume issue you had. Could be a lot of stuff. Hated giving this video a like. Too sad man. Good luck! Check out the Marshall Forum too for some insights. I hate that place but all the Marshall tech nerds hang out there.
It actually wasnt the power section luckily. It is an issue with the tube sockets V4 and V5. The head has been to a tech and I'm waiting to get it back. Hopefully I can get it back this week because I am dying to play the amp. Gooz
its gonna sound better if he retubes and re biases the tubes. i once bought a Mullard 12AX7 preamp tube that made my whole amp sound like an angry dog. I tried buying more but it was just that one tube that had that angry growl. The angry growl in the tubes wears out over time. Im telling you because the angry sound is synonymous with the JCM800. SovtekLPS tubes sound creamy( they smooth out the distortion) and EHX sounds very bright and sparkly. Mullard was the only one other than the stock Marshall Shuguang tubes that had an even amount of bass and treble, but not overly bright. JJ tubes should not be used on a Marshall in my opnion but before JJ tubes bought Ruby tubes out , i recommend Ruby Tubes for a warn clean sound. If you find tubes that create a distinctive sound such as a very angry sound, similar to Sum41 albums Does This Look Infected or Chuck album, you should not wear that tube out at all. you should just use those awesome tubes to record only. You can store them away until you need to record something. I recommend the new Mullards( CV4004 Good) and the Shuguang Marshalls branded tubes (huge amount of versatility and range). always ask for the tubes to be balanced and I think that 94 gain is too much. Gain in tubes around 91 is just perfect for 12AX7's. Every simgle tube sounds different and have different amounts of gain, i think everyone knows about the gain but what people dont know is that some tubes are more trebly and some are warmer with more bass. Gain will change the position of your Gain and Volume knob while Treble will affect your treble knob and if the tube is too warm it will affect your bass knob. the positions of all the knobs change when you change tubes. sometime instead of putting treble around 5 you might have to raise all the Treble, Middle, and Bass knobs by a factor of 2 or 3. Its all dependent on the tubes and the amount of gain. Some tubes can make it so that no matter if your using the treble position on the guitar it will sound as if your using the rhythm position. if you start tube rolling i recommendd you swap tubes and you put Pure Nickel strings on your guitar so you can get the pure tone. in other words test it with pure nickel strings and test to make sure there is a noticeable difference when you switch between bridge and neck pickups. I recommend vivatubes because tubes are still 20 dollars for a tube while other places the prices have gone up to 40 for each recently. once you test with nickel strings you can switch back to regular strings after testing the tubes.
