@@KanoogTry getting a sense of humor, I understand that it helps with enjoying a good joke. It's also ironic that you're giving an lecture on how to learn in school yet you can't even spell "attention" correctly.
You shouldn't have learned anything decent from that narcissistic parasite. He only teaches about life's negatives to reinforce his own crappy behavior.
John Glover and Michael Rosenbaum's scenes together were epic on this show. Even now, 13 years after the series ended, they still refer to each other as "Dad" and "Son" when they see each other. Everyone involved in the making of Smallville became a close-knit family.
I didn't realize back then how insane that fencing scene is: 1) they bothered to put on the suit but not the helmet/mask. I get that this is so we, the audience, can see their faces as they fight, but why bother with protective suits if you're not also going to protect the head and the face. 2) But more insane than that: they are using real swords! These aren't regular fencing foils, they are actually sharp rapiers. When Lionel has his blade on Lex, Lex isn't annoyed to have lost the match, he legit looks scared he might get stabbed. The Luthors do not fuck around!
It's nuts too because 1. Lionel's long hair keeps getting in his face. It's completely impractical when he would've had to tie his hair back to wear the helmet. And 2, Not wearing masks means it's harder to hide stuntmen. This is actually John Glover and Michael Rosenbaum doing the majority of the fight. Glover even does part of the roll over the pool table. It's totally unnecessary, but I love it
I wouldn't say "the more I RESPECT it", but now that I'm a grown man rewatching these scenes I first watched as a boy, I definitely understand some of the principles Lionel was trying to teach Lex, albeit in a cruel way.
@@Mr33500 I wouldn't consider him a good father figure, no. But in the end, Lionel created exactly what he set out to create. A leader who was more cunning, ambitious, and ruthless than he was. Ugly and somewhat poetic part is, Lionel was killed by his own creation.
Just no. He's a sick, twisted narcissist. Any attempt to "help" lex or appear to care is just an act. Lex was just one of the pieces in his chest game.
I got better history lessons in this show than I got at school
Should have paid attnetion in class, I understand that helps with learning.
Lionel was an excellent teacher
History , biblie and philosophy three in one , only from Luthors diealogue
🤣😂🤣😂

The Luthor scenes are the best parts of Smallville. No wonder the show went down hill after both left the show.
Not all the way just wasn't as interesting and Compelling
I always appreciated lionels little talks about ancient figures, to the point i learned a lot about life just listening to these talks.

Aaa yes, the usual fencing match to win your father’s trust.
A classic.
"Just remember, empires aren't built on clever book keeping"
"Dad, yes they fucking are you dunce."
I dunno, Alexander The Great just beat people up and took stuff.
I think Lionel's overall point is to know when to be ruthless.

It's Lionel's way of instilling fearlessness in Lex.

What a dad...
Wonderful memories ☺️
Well. Actually, at 1st Lex hasn't challenged his father. It was the opposite way :) The 2nd meeting was the Lex's ;)
Little fun fact. The actor who played Lex Luthor father was actually the voice of the Riddler from Batman the Animated Series ❓️❓️❓️
He also played the Devil on a criminally underrated TV show called "Brimstone".
the older i get the more i respect lionels parenting
How?
@Skynet1 And ended up making his son kill him. Lionel is really not a good father figure.

Who fences without head gear ? If the tip of the sword breaks, you could easily lose an eye.
nice😅😅😅😅
I would love to have a dad like lionel
No you wouldn't. He's a dick with a massive ego who would delight in making you his bitch.
Ooof
He's awesome but very cruel.
No you wouldn’t
