Great vid Joe, conditions looked like Inners at the weekend there!! I run the 165MM Hope's myself and have always liked the shorter ones, might give the 155's try when it's time to change.
i swapped from 170's to 5dev 155's. had to swap my 32t for a 28T ring. back end is a sram xg1295 - all's well. far less pedal strikes, for sure. and my legs feel like im pedaling in a nice, smooth circle, instead of stomping out small fires.
Recognises the first riding spot from my trip up to this years World Cup in similar condition. Didn’t recognise the speeds you were doing tho’, about 10x quicker than I was going.
I use/run 175 mm cranks, I have ridden 175 mm cranks for years and that feels good to me. I thought 165 mm cranks where short so these 155 mm cranks seem weird to me bu something I am interested in trying. Maybe it will feel like kids bike cranks to me at first because I am so used to 175 mm cranks
Exactly I was sick of getting pedal strikes over limestone trails. I ride here in Western square. I put on a set of 152mm im Only 5foot 5 huge improvement
I bought the shortest EVOs they did at the time (165mm) I am now a bit pissed off as I need 155mm and always knew the stress my knees were going through. Short stroke faster revs like a motorbike engine
So by running shorter cranks, you could potentially run a longer travel dropper post. I like this. Do the cranks use a standard BB or are Hope being a bit non industry again and so you can only use a Hope BB? Hope bearings are good, but not great and Chris King has a break even in about 3 years based on £40 per year on hope bearings.
Yes, exactly. You can then run more drop on the post. for eg. for me One-Up dropper can change in 10mm increments so I can just run a longer drop post and keep the same descending height. I had in the back of my mind that 180 was to much for my ride so now with it up 10mm it is essentially a 170 dropper old money but still 180 drop, I'll stick with that. yea, 30mm axel on Hope cranks. So needs a hope BB. Plus side is its easy to tap in new bearings and they last i think way longer that shimano and sram as it is. I have never used Chris King.
Exactly this - my wife demo'd a bike in medium with 175 cranks and the slammed 150 dropper was just too high for her. Got them to swap the cranks to 165 and it effectively "lowered" the saddle for a perfect fit.
@@stephenwilliams5633 Praxis has a 160 length of the M30 arms for the SL. The aluminum version is not always in stock. The carbon arms should be easy to get.
@@stephenwilliams5633 yes! You can pedal in places you couldn’t before. The best thing however is the more compact stance. So much easier to squat down and move around. Best update I‘ve made to my SL.
Similar true. This is from Ricky Banda's album 'Niwanji walwa amwishyo'. A youtube find after LOVING his song "who's that guy" (hopefully i'll use that in a vid one day also) and hard to find the full album.
stupid to even talk about this, even a year later unless your gonna shell out close to 300 dollars or more for hope crank set you wont be able to buy them. Currently they are out of stock everywhere. Seems stupid to me if its unattainable to most people. Absolutely hate my 170mm that came stock on my Polygon T7. They are too long, they slam into everything on tech climbs, the stance feels way off im 5'8" on a medium frame and I can see having my stance closer together being a game changer. Oh well, 300 Dollars for fucking cranks is way out of my budget. Hell I could get a CNC machinest to make me custom ones almost cheaper. Someone should start pumping these out, great business. 160, and 165mm cranks are hard to find for MTB too...Just saying. I hate all these mountain bikers that are "Pros" most yall if you actually mountain bike know most of this shit is unattainable, or you wont ever be that good for it to matter...
I’m loving my Hope 155 cranks. Improved my cornering for sure.
Music selection always so good
The best MTB channel on TH-cam. Bloody cracking.
Finally, the mtb bike industry is waking up to shorter cranks. Can’t wait for more manufacturers to cotton on and start making em
Digging your soundtrack!
Have them on my emtb and it’s the best upgrade I’ve done. No more pedal strikes and can easier keep cadence in optimal range.
What about for climbing. Did it get harder??
Another banger 👌 love the editing and song choice was on point again. 🤘🏾
Hope 155’s on my Levo and loving it

Very good upgrade I think. Really pleased I tried them myself

Love the Manny reference!!
Fitted a pair last week and they're the business

Great video!

My Polygon Colossus n8e came with 160mm cranks. I dropped them to 150mm.

Got some for the ebike as I pedal it more
just ordered some for my HT Levo 75nm
And here i am with 175mm cranks
Same here. I dont ride like that either! Maybe my cranks are too long lol.
@@johnm9709 I bet he could ride like this with 250mm cranks :D
Crouching tiger hidden dragon
Nice vid 😌 when dose to hope bike gets out for sale?
Can pre-order just now. They are currently getting made and shipped
They'll make the effective reach longer too I think. But check with the science first before adjusting anything.
Reach won’t change. BB is in same place
What’s the tune? Sounded a bit like Cymande?

Pro’s and con’s got some 155’s for the ebike

A boy called Ricky Banda, from album 'Niwanji walwa amwishyo'
