  • A response video to comments about landing patterns being too high and too fast. What do you think? Here is the breakdown on how I land the "Forked-Tail Doctor Killer.

Hi Dale, my pattern speeds are pretty much spot on to yours in my V35B. Seems to work just fine. Thanks for the nice videos that you post. Very enjoyable!

Thanks Steve, the V35B that I have flown is a bit more demanding than my, "Baby Bonanza". I got another guy a while back that basically told me I was full of it. That the V35 was no different to fly than the older models.....not my experience.

Hi Dale, I land my K35 "a little fast" same as you. Seems safer. Thx for thoughtful video!

I also fly a J35. Your approaches are safely able to make the field if the engine dies at all times and you are landing in 1000-1200 feet. Why change a thing?! I’m a newbie in the Bonanza and trained with slower approaches. Now I come in quicker. Safer to me. If I’m in an emergency, have an extremely short landing space, I could easily slow up the approach as could you. On another note, I wouldn’t trade my J35 or what seems like the bulletproof IO-470 for many other platforms.

Hi Dale, I fly an identical approach in a A36 same numbers 90kts down final, 80kts over the fence, and 75 kts over the numbers. Allows for a more stable approach no requirement to continually adjust power, so in short I would like to know what speeds your detractors fly at?

Thanks man! I appreciate the feedback, you get responses doing this TH-cam thing that trigger better content., I don't remember the exact numbers but he supposedly flies Bonanzas all the time at 70 knot approaches and touches down at 50+.
