The work VFA have done with Albert Park lake is awesome, it's a great little fishing haven that they've made so close to the city. That Yella was a good one 👌
I spent about 8 hours filming the swan at 2:32 for a university animal behaviour project last year 😅 had I had known how good of a fishery albert park is I would have brought a rod!
Hi Alan, that's fantastic. I have been there one year ago and i saw a few Yellas very big and tried out so many lures but not bite ,so frustrating.....😅😅😅
Awesome fishing mate! Was down barwon heads yesrsrday flicking lures for trevally, met a young fella who warches your vid and he managed a beaut at 46cm .. i managed a couple round 42. Great so many young kids are getting out fishing,!
Great vid Alan I’m definitely going to try out Albert park lake on my new kayak I got for Chrissy. Down in the Gippsland lakes right now and loving the lure fishing for flatty bream and EP’s
Great vid Alan, I need to fish Albert park more, I’ve only fished it once and it was for 10 minutes in the middle of the day hahaha. It’s such an awesome spot, crazy to think there’s quality yella only 5 minutes away from the CBD. I can’t wait to fish wendouree, I hope it will be good. Keep up the great content mate!
Yeah, the VFA have done an outstanding jobs stocking natives into metro systems and crazy to think your 3 ks from the CBD hey. Thanks I hope ya catch plenty this holiday break
Onya mate; I finally got me license back, went straight to a reservoir you fish, chucked a lure and got tangled up with about 10 mtrs of fishing line. We all need to think of this now. I wound it all up and took it home. It’s just happening too much now!
Its a great question, all fish that are stocked in shallow waters are prone to things like that. From what I know from the VFA it has been successful there and I have caught many trout over the years which have grown far bigger then stockie size.
Fisheries actually stocked it occasionally with Chinook salmon when I was a kid don't think they were that successful but I did catch a few small one's..
yeah there are some huge ones. I got one about 63cms there a few months ago and it was so girthy. Good luck at Lake Mulwala its such a cool place, i might be headed that way soon too
@@fishingmad awesome , remember to take some heavy rods and reels and some big baits to get those metre plus fish. I know a local angler down there who catches metre cod all the time.
Thanks !! many of the yellas I've caught there have been sight cast. Just gotta cover ground and fish weed edges hard. Sometimes they can be very tricky to temp and super spooky.
I caught one about 62cm there this time last year, i saw it swimming along the weed edge literally 3 or 4 meters from the bank. I threw a 2.5 inch bloodworm grub right next to it and it smacked it instantly. They usually spook and swim off, was wrapped this one was so thick and girthy.
Yellowbelly, Trout, estuary perch and Carp. I stocked 100 massive trout there this year, di encourage you to watch this th-cam.com/video/uMD5yHAM06k/w-d-xo.html

@@fishingmadyeh I want to!

Yeah they are so spooky there, its very cool seeing the big yellas cruising the edges on clear days
dammit. I lived like 400m from Albert park for a year, never knew you could fish there.
Good stuff Alan, I had a fish there when i was visiting my uncle for a couple days and got stuck into some eps on shallow divers.
Any news on Murray cod in the lake ever heard of any catches yet, or if they will restock them. Imagine catching a meter cod in the heart of Melbourne

Thanks !! yeah, it's a very cool spot. Very shallow and weedy and can be super frustrating to fish on the yak

Didnt know u could use a kayack in Albert Park Lark
100% you can, there is a rowing club there and there on the water all the time too

Do the stocked trout actually survive and grow in there...I sort of believed they die off in the warm weather over summer.

There’s some monster yellowbelly in there for sure. I’m hoping to be hitting up Lake Mulwala next year to get my first metre cod.

Wow thats amazing. I cant wait. How good would it be to catch metre cod all the time, im very envious
@@fishingmad haha me too. I’m buying a Samaki Zing Gen 3 or a TD Black Rod for my Daiwa Laguna on Sunday.
LOL I know the feeling, seems like ya never stop buying gear at time. The TD Blacks are great !!
I wonder how the water escapes from the lake and if any other water flows into it other than just storm water from roads and drains.
your videos never seem to disappoint!! How do you get the yellas to bite on a slow cold day?
Thanks !! many of the yellas I've caught there have been sight cast. Just gotta cover ground and fish weed edges hard. Sometimes they can be very tricky to temp and super spooky.
yeah they are very skittish some times. thanks for the tips!
I've seen quite a few walking the edges and have never tempted any to even look at a lure or bait@@fishingmad

@@fishingmad nice, i guess it just takes lots of time and casts.
Haven't fished this urban lake yet but keen to do so. What fish Species are in this lake,,
Cheers thanks

@fishingmad cool nice 😎 👌
Any red- fin in there ?
Ive heard urban myths of redfin being in there even seen the odd photo on socials, but ive never caught any or seen any in there
@@fishingmad yeah right um maybe they should stock it with red fin as they do for big trout
Excuse me Alan but is there many logs or anything to snag at the bottom and what lures should work good in here?
Its not bag for snags, just very weedy, so gotta fish along the weed edges and use subsurface and surface in some spots
@@fishingmad thanks for replying and the info i always love watching you on tv I saw the new video about the flat head
nice lake but I absolutely hate the weeds and not being able to have a clean drag through water without seaweed. I guess weedless jigheads will help.
Good aussie boys...much catch plenty...so sad she not cook four you? plenty bird four soups...can catch..big drinks four yours..yes yes vodka
IM very surprised you caught such a nice yellow belly there!
Yeah its a very underrated system and some massive yellas in there
Nice vid. Btw what bait would work? Prawns?
I caught a 1 meter cod there
Just to let everyone know the yellas here are spooked really easily and hard to get sometime s
Are there fishes in the winter?
Are the fish good for eating?
What size was your biggest Bass for the day ?
low/mid 40s i think. In a few years it will be awesome when the grow a bit more
@@fishingmad biggest one ive got is 38 in the Werribee river. That's awesome Alan, Great video.
Some good ones in there thats for sure. I got some close to 50 in that stretch last year.
hello Allen do you need a fishing licence to fish there
