    Gday Alan, long time fisho - new viewer! Thanks for the inspo - I realized recently that I hadn't bought a fishing rod for about 15 years - so I got a 1-4 kg bream 7ft Raider and a 2500 Shimano Miravel - aim is to have a crack at this soft plastics biz! Hoping to chase some whiting wading from the beach etc this summer (around the Vic/SA border area)... thanks again for rekindling my interest to try something new.

I would love it see a fishing equipment ep where you could give some advice on comparing different combos we could get budget vs top end and see what the difference is plus how to pick the right rod/reel for the job. Keep up the good work!!!

      Thanks !! That's very much appreciated. I cover gear, workshops, tutorials and a lot more stuff like that in great detail on the FishingMad members area. The TH-cam channel is more to cover my fishing adventures and sharing some helpful tips. But a LOT more content and detail in our members area, plus reports, podcasts, giveaways all sorts of stuff. Hope that helps. i

    i dont fish often but the warmies are a great spot, i used the pink Gulp prawn/shrimps and have caught everything u can in that area. A lot of big Take Home flat heads and whiting and some young undersized snapper, salmon and mulloway i couldn't keep. All of the gulps.
    Brim are abit harder and want smaller live baits

    In 38 year's fishing Newport, I'm favourite spot is the outlet but only when it's on.
    The trav chase the bait, salmon clean up and shark's chase them all to warm water hence you're only catching salmon in the cooler waterways

    Hi Alan! Thanks for another awesome video! I am just wondering is the warmies (the hotties) a good fishing spot when there is low tide? Cause I have noticed that the water is not too deep over there. Keep on the good work!

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you and yes it can fish well at both low and high tide. It can be a very hit and miss spot, obviously, the pumps running late winter or early spring changes all that but we do get good runs of pinkies and snapper in there aswell and mulloway and I've caught on both tides there, may just be harder to land fish and require working the plastic a bit faster on peak low.

    • @fishingmad

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There are plenty of helpful tips in this vid, so make sure you watch it all the way through. Runs through some really helpful things. This time of year the water temp is still low, yesterday was 12 degrees so tge fishing is still very slow over the coming weeks it will rise 2-3 degrees and the fishing will go really good for pinkies, flathead, whiting, snapper, etc This time of year work the plastics very slow, fish as light jig head that you can get away with, use gulp plastics they are brilliant, other brands also good. Cheers

    • @muxishine
      @muxishine หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Mix it up, different techniques, different plastics, different jighead weights but most importantly, for most species, make sure you give it enough time to get to the bottom and cover as much ground as you can. Don't keep casting into the same spot over and over.

      Just watch heaps of video,s on youtube its not hard use a good rod and reel and good line dont have to spend a fortune but it makes a difference to fishing.

    • @simonellis8092
      @simonellis8092 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Slow down. Make sure your lure sits on the bottom for few seconds on every hop. Use light line, leader and jig heads w/ quality plastics and I guarantee you’ll catch fish.

    • @fishingmad

      Yeah the water clarity there is really bad, lots of people take fish home to eat from there which is something I don't do. I also saw a few small bream, trevally and tailor caught near the outlet
