- #skcrappie Shellcracker fishing has proven to be a great challenge and catching bluegill mixed in is a great problem to have. This type of fishing is a ton of fun...
Thank You for coming along on the trip with me. If you enjoyed the vid please hit the thumbs up. "Thank You" to those of you that have subscribed and those of you that haven't I'd really appreciate if you would.
Here's a great tip, what I've been adding to my jig and or plain jig hook is Berkley Crappie Nibbles, I mostly use the Glow color as the other colors stain my Dargel boat. In a upcoming vid you'll see me use other colors and the fish seem to prefer those.

Best budget rod and reel for gills and crappie
I'd go a 6,6 or 7' Denali Pryme paired with a Denali D50 spinning reel...... Light as a feather and tuff as nails.....

They are fun and without a doubt tasty..... Thanks bro and enjoy your week also.....
What color crappie nibble works the best or does it matter
I mainly use the white ones because they don't stain my beige boat but they all work.....I have a vid that I'm working on where I talk about that subject.........Thanks
What are you using sir
Jigs
What size jig head are you using
1/64 - 1/16oz..... Works good for me....
May I ask what rod and reel u r using. Thanks
The rod is a Denali Pryme 12' crappie rod and the reel is a discontinued little Berkley.....
I got to give you a double thumbs up on that one sk 🔥🔥🔥👍🏾👍🏾
Awesome.....Thanks for your time watching and commenting.....
So beutfull fishing video
Thanks brother, it's a beautiful lake......
SK, you had to work for them buddy. This has been a year of tough weather patterns and water conditions. You hung in there and caught some nice Shells. Thanks again.
Yes, wind, rain or just plain ole hot it has been for sure...... Thanks for coming along Jerry, I had to piece the puzzle together.....
Man that bank was on 🔥 that day. Nice fish bro
Yes sir it was and what was really special about that bank was it was out of the wind....LOL Thanks brother.....
Pretty fish.
Thanks Randy.....
SK, great video! I love shellcrackers but here in Missouri they never school up, even though they are schooling fish.
Hey David, I went to check on the shellcracker yestdy and they don't school up here either until they start spawning....I didn't get on any big'uns but it won't be long.....
I'll have more shellcracker videos coming soon.....Thanks for watching
man you be on some nice fish love it
It's a lot of fun..... What type fish do you fish for?
Thanks
@@SK_CrappieCatching catfish brim and trot
That's what's up....... You ever fish for crappie?
@@SK_CrappieCatching yes just dont have anywhere near me so only ever now n then maybe 2 time a year
That was some live action there. They had you on your toes. Look like you were in the nursery for a hot minute and then found them big ole good ns
You know these fish have my attention right now and the bigger fish are definitely a challenge...... I've been on some good crappie also so more vids on those trips coming soon.....Thanks
Man that cork was gone SK you get em
They were aggressive.....Thanks
I wish we had more Gills up here where I live. Mostly Rock Bass. Good eating. 😉
They're a fun fish to chase and tasty on the table..... Thanks for your time watching and the feedback.....
I wish I could be there to catch some of those shell cracker with you my friend you are the best my name is Dwight Underwood from Birmingham Alabama I’m 66 years old and never caught no pretty fish like them tell me how to fish with you 🙂
Great eats!!
Very tasty for sure.....Thanks
Yeah..I saw the other cooking video. Time for you to make another
Coming soon......Thanks
What seasoning you using. Need the name cause they were delicious
Salt and pepper is all that's needed but if you're wanting a little spice I use Sant Amand's creole in the blue or red can..... Good stuff.....Thanks
What time of year was that sir?
June if I'm not mistaken..... Now it's definitely the time to be after them.....Thanks
@@SK_CrappieCatching Thank you much sir!
I love catching shell crackers They fight like crazy
They are some great fighters and some kinda good eating.....Thanks
SK, from my experience, you’ll catch bigger shellcrackers if you take the bobber off. Unlike bluegill, shellcracker would rather feed closer to the floor.
This lake is covered in different types of vegetation so putting your bait on the bottom won't work...... I'll give it a try my next outing...... Thanks for the tips.....
We’ve been catching 1 1/2 pounders around here.
That quality shellcrackers don't exist in these parts.....LOL
Wish it did.... My biggest to date is just under a pound.....
I've seen them caught up to 2 1/2lbs on vid.....
SK's CRAPPIE Catchn Adventures I’m in north Arkansas, on some smaller lakes, 200 to 500 acres.
Most of the giant ones I've seen are coming out of small lakes...... Would love to get on a few big'uns myself..... Might be making a trip to Louisiana if this virus get out of here.......
Just like the trolling motor match the boat, or any particular build quality in salt water ones? Which minn kota is yours Sir?
Appreciate your kind reply
I just kept it saltwater since my boat is a saltwater boat..... If I decide to sell it it'll be set for what it was designed for..... It's the 24v Ulterra...... Great motor so far.....Thanks
🔥
Thanks
Have you ever fished Sheldon reservoir for crappie? I have been out there a few times but I haven't had any luck, wondering if you had any tips
I know for a fact there are some good crappie in there but with the heavy vegetation it makes catchn them a real job......I fished for crappie there years ago and did really well but haven't fished for them in a while there..... If I fished for them now I'd for sure fish the trees out in open water and the open pockets in the grass where the 10' hole is.....I might take that challenge soon......Thanks
@@SK_CrappieCatching awesome thx
How is the bluegill on Lake Houston I know Conroe has big ones
There are some good native bluegill and a very small population of shellcracker in Houston......I have never caught a coppernose there..... The water tempos are perfect to catch them on beds right now.....

I keep saying it, it's all about the adjustments. They had you doing this and doing that. Toward the end it showed the results. Great tutorial. Stay after em.
Yes all part of the game of figuring them out...... Not giving up is 1st..... There were a lot of boats that loaded up when that wind got up......I like the challenge.....Thanks
Don't fall out of the boat SK!😂 I saw you dumping those crappie nibbles out on the deck of your boat before but kept forgetting to ask, how long can they sit there before they get too hard and dry to stay on the hook anymore? I think I tried that once and ended up with 4-5 hard pellets that wouldn't go on a hook, much less stay there.😂 I probably wasn't using them often enough but ever since then I've just taken one at a time out as I needed them. You definitely got into some slab size ones. What makes you prefer the shellcrackers over bluegills? Is there a significant taste difference?
Almost ended up in the drink....LOL
I go through those nibbles so quick they don't get to dry out much but I do prefer they dry out since they stay on the hook better..... Those shellcrackers fight a lot harder and do have a better flavor than the gills..... Shellcrackers are a much tougher fish to locate and catch than gills also...Thanks
They don't stay on hook good until they dry out some
I like that you act with enough self respect for yourself, not like the Elmo man...
Ended up unsubscribing there...
HaHaHaaaaa......I think I've heard that a few times already...... not my personality for sure......Thanks
I love Elmo and Richard gene best fisherman alive anyone that doesnt just doesn't have any since of humor he gives the best fishing advice on TH-cam
