    Just got one of these! It's hard to find replacement filters for my vehicle in Rwanda, so this is a great solution! Because of the dry season and the dust, the filters need to be changed about every 6 months in Rwanda.

    Better idea when you clean the filter do it at night leave it put it in your vehicle after your morning coffee.

    I wonder what sort of toxins are in the cleaner kit. Honestly wash the filter with really hot water & soap & then rinse thoroughly with water then allow it to dry in the sun. Once its crisp dry then it will work again as it should. You want it to be the least toxic way possible or whats the point of filtering the air?

      The bottles even say they are harmful AND fatal. Not something you want to inhale the whole time you're in the car.

      That is why I only spray the refresher on the dirty side

    Is this filter fine enough to block small enough particles and odors. Seems like it would not be since you can see right through it!

    Do you let it dry after applying the refresher?

    • @EricDIY
      @EricDIY  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes.
      You let it dry and then put it back in

    Can you use the cleaning kit for the engine air filter? Or are they specific?

    • @EricDIY
      @EricDIY  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are two separate cleaning kits - one for the cabin air filter and one for the engine filter

    • @Jr-eu9ex
      @Jr-eu9ex 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Eric DIY yes I know, I have the engine kind...but question is if I can use it to at least loses the dirt

    • @EricDIY
      @EricDIY  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think so...but one of my viewers said he uses Dawn dish soap to clean his K&N filter...it's worth a try as that should remove any type of oil

    • @DominiqueWillkins
      @DominiqueWillkins 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Jr-eu9ex Did you wash It with the engine kind of cleaner? Want to know if it works just fine.
      I know that the OIL shouldn't be added for sure, but the cleaner shouldn't be much of a deal.

    Is it possible if i just use soap and water to clean this?
    This filter does not need reoiling right?

    • @EricDIY
      @EricDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The reoiling would be the spray. If I did use soap, I would use dish soap and rinse well. I use the spray they sell though.

    a faster way to dry is to put it outside with a fan so it can dry faster bro

      A day's worth of direct sunlight is the best, dryers can get too hot & melt the rubber frame.

      I just cleaned both my filters on my car with warm water and dawn dish soap. But idk if it’s okay to have the air filter without any oil? I didn’t apply anything. Please let me know if it’s safe without it! Thanks.

    • @bkwil6078
      @bkwil6078 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@edwardportan I only use cold water... Yes oil the filter I get full coverage on the filter but I go relatively light so not to have any issues with the mass flow air sensor. Usually just spray on the outside of the filter so I could see it getting even coverage.

    Don't air filters cost less than the bottle of refresher you are using?

    • @EricDIY
      @EricDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That bottle of refresher lasts a long time so you save over the long run

    • @kyletaylor4489

      This air filter is reusable

  • @whicky1978
    @whicky1978 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can drive your car without an in cabin air filter while you wait for this other one to dry.
    I like to preheat my oven to 200° and then turn it off and set a filter on aluminum foil if I’m in a hurry for it to dry. They are made of cotton though so it could shrink a little bit if you do this.

    How often do I need to clean filter

    • @EricDIY

      I look at it every oil change. I would say every 2nd oil change to be clean
