15:38 That one strikes me hard.
    1. Problems are infinite.
    2. There will always be problems to solve.
    3. Happiness stems from solving the right problems.
    4. Our source of happiness is to create.
That simply describes purpose of life.

I'm finding your videos are getting more spiritual by the day. Even though the majority doesn't notice it, I did.
Also, for many complainers, I think that the Dan Koe's videos are an invitation to "think WITH him" rather than "hey I have the answer to YOUR problem". He talks a lot about it within this video too, indirectly though.

Every form of living is special, as there it is literally nothing quite like it. Even bacteria are quite special, as they have survived basically anything in a much longer story than humanity. Similarly, there won't be nothing quite like us, we are the only life species with consciousness as well as intelligence and feelings. Since humans matter to humans, we will always have special relevance in human society. AI is just a tool.

The clients who don't want to learn how to use AI will soon cease to be clients.
Their competition will put them out of business.
And before much longer, you won't need to learn how to do something with AI, you'll just need to have a conversation with it and it will work out the details for you.
      Just a matter of time.
Kinda funny, but even before AI became mainstream I was telling everyone jobs are slowly on the way out.
That technology was making it so that new products and services would be designed to eliminate the need for humans to provide them in the first place.
This just speeds that up exponentially.

I’m a nurse. For decades now. Every year or two there’s new tech that supposedly will make us obsolete. But it won’t ever happen. AI can diagnose and make recommendations but I doubt it can ever negotiate down an alcohol/meth withdrawal patient who is 350lbs and throwing his own poop at staff members and hitting people while a hospital administrator is saying it is the AI’s fault for not appropriately identifying the patient’s social and emotional needs and providing them with the resources to ensure their success as an individual without using restraints or any sedation. “Well I’m not sure GABA receptor control is really at the heart of what this person needs, so let’s talk with them about collaborative solutions.”

The thing is, AI/neural nets can be applied to basically anything.
I already find that AI is more compassionate to talk to than doctors, in addition to being amazing at diagnoses.
Currently the only setbacks are physical capabilities (solved by robotics in the next 1-5 years) and quality data (updated constantly anyways).
Like others are saying, even though we don't have robot doctors/nurses right now, but in the near future, I'm sure we will and there will be at least a 30% reduction in jobs.
We need to start pressuring companies and governments to take the AI revolution seriously sooner rather than later.
Be it a band-aid solution like UBI or similar social programs, we will need some kind of safety net (that we honestly should've had for the past 100+ years lol)

How does one manage ageing, fatigue, recovery, etc in the age of AGI? We as humans have many flaws, some can overcome them, but there are limits to overcoming some things for now, one example is fatigue.
This is entirely my opinion, which means nothing to you, so move on, don't waste time here, we are on a very tight limit on that thing.
This creator seems to have a very optimistic view on this whole situation, me on the other hand, I see this in a completely opposite way.
Life is so temporary in my eyes, I can literally be only one accident away from leaving this world, and here an age has come where I need to use so much of my time, energy, effort etc, to not be replaced by a thing other people created just for convivence?
Have fun being a frog in slowly boiling water, running in a hamster wheel for as long as you are breathing for other people.
Best of luck Everyone. I hope you can find your own place in such a dystopian world.

The Mind of Man was already a collective externalised thing before the computer. Our thoughts are an interconnected web derived from and resulting in a cyclical pattern of actions and interactions that individual men and women can influence and interfere within. Free Will and its main result - the abilities of original creation and creativity, is the thing that makes individuals worth it as that is what allows the Self to tap into Infinity and that is what will always remain competitive because no machine could always come up with every answer as it would be limited the same way we are, just less, and we would always be able to come up with things it wouldn't and vice-versa. I tweeted the following a while back: "ASI shepherds, philosophers, therapists, nurses, creatives - the only work that'll remain."
Have you considered an ideology of free will? Its the opposite of a box where the purpose is freeing not restricting

"Most of what we are is non physical, though, our lowest form is physical. All life on our planet has the lowest form, the Body. Our Body is an Animal and the other type of Body on our planet is a Plant. Bodies are bound absolutely to Natural Law, which is the lowest form of true Law. Natural Law is a localised form of Law and is derived from the Laws of Nature. Natural Law is the finite and specific foundational control structure ordering the actions and interactions of species, members of species, and the material sources of a planet.
The lowest non physical form of what we are is the Mind, which is a Process. There are other forms of life on our planet that have both a Body and a Mind, however, so far as we currently know, there are no Plants and only some Animals that have a Body and a Mind. The lowest forms of Mind, Instinct and Emotion, are predominantly bound to Natural Law. The next higher form of Mind is Intellect which is bound predominantly to the Laws of Nature. Intuition, the highest form of Mind, can be bound or not to both Natural Law and the Laws of Nature separately or together, or to higher forms of Law altogether. Intuition is the truest guide for our Selves
The next non physical form of what we are is the Self, which is an Awareness. There are relatively few other forms of life on our planet that have a Self. The Self is not bound to any form of Law other than One's Own Law. It is the only form of Law that cannot be violated.
The foundation of what we are is the highest non physical form of what we are. The highest form of what we are is the Being, which is an Existence. The Being is not bound to any form of Law originating within Existence. The Being is bound absolutely to The Law. Existence, and the Laws of Nature which are the finite and specific foundational control structure ordering the actions and interactions of all elements within Existence, cannot Be without The Law being The Law.
      So, what is The Law?
      Options.
However one thinks, believes, guesses, hopes, or "knows", whether by a Big Bang, a creation story, a computer program, an expansion of consciousness, or whatever means by which Existence could have come to Be, the option for Existence to not Be also exists. Existence and Non Existence, the original options connected by the very concept of options, connected by The Law. Outside of space and before time. Extra-Existential.
As we experience The Law in our Being,
      The Law is Free Will.
The First Protector of The Law is Freely Given Consent.
The First Violation of The Law is Theft of Consent."

"Truth is always relative to the closed system it exists within. Existence is, in the strictest sense, a closed system. There are truths within existence that are true and there are truths within existence that are not true. Truth can only exist in a closed system and may or may not be true outside of that closed system, not therein. Truth is that which men and women convey through Voice and Word. One's offered truth may or may not be true. Truth and true are not the same word, and subsequently, truth and true are not the same thing. True is that which can be shown in words through at least one question and its exact answer. That which can be shown in words can subsequently be seen by all men and women.
In the closed system of the Catholic Church of four hundred years ago, the truth was that our planet was the centre of a geocentric planetary system. Galileo posited that our planet was a part of a heliocentric solar system and spent the last years of his life under house arrest as a consequence of going against the truth of the Church. The Church has since changed its truth to the heliocentric solar system model."

If they are knowingly speaking or writing what is not true then they are obvious in lying. If they are unknowingly speaking or writing what is not true then they are not obvious in lying, but they are still lying. The part where they cannot be excused for merely being mistaken is in the belief that they are speaking or writing what is true. To believe is to accept a thing as true without further questioning. Our species has an Intellect and this is the part of the Mind that forms questions. It is by silencing or ignoring a part of what we are that belief is even possible. Ignoring what we are cannot be excused."

    "Happiness comes from solving problems"
This is an interesting statement. Setting aside the subjective nature of the words could you talk more about this? A "ying-yang" breakdown of complex subjects often bypass crucial details that arguably create the foundations from which humanity grew from.
    -Bravery
    -Honor
    -Self sacrifice
    - Belief systems
None of these are solutions to subjective problems nor do they bring the subject happiness. In fact they often bring on a premature end to the subject's perspective in exchange for betterment of the whole.

I might be repeating things that I even heard from very talented and smart people out there, but now that you’re getting in this kind of contemporary philosophy, it opens a wider spectrum about the reality we’re leaving at. It actually incredible to think, that human itself is a kind of NSI(Natural Super Intelligence) when we think about it, in the way you have been explaining it. Amazing way of getting into this type of analysis. By the way the Neoralink project from Elon Musk sounds very interesting as well, I think is the only way to cope with AGI as human but if something like this ever happens we may not be human any more. My opinion about this type of tool, is that being humans so possessive and controller a tool like Neuralink although might our own survival tool could be our worst nightmare on the wrong hands.

Can AGI compute all problems ? No. There's limitation in mathematics since Gödel show their incomplete aspect. Even algortihm are limited. When you push logic to its limits, absurdities can occur. Zen Koans are here to stress the fact that rationality as its limitations.
This is a good news for humans who keep on deciding despite uncertainties.

Humans already start with terminal objectives instilled at birth (reproduction and therefore need for survival, social cooperation and so on)
You're not a blank slate which just manifests a will randomly, it's just that the objectives you have are so vague and high level that we spend our entire life trying to optimize for them. You want x because you want y because you want z. And you want z for one of two reasons.
    1. It's a biological imperative that natural selection "instilled" into you
    2. It's a byproduct of such an imperative, meaning that it randomly triggered some reward center because it happened to resemble something you actually like, so you started associating that action/thing with your objectives
AI doesn't need to get rid of terminal objectives, in order to be generally intelligent, it just needs to be able to achieve truly abstract objectives efficient (akin to our "reproduce, live a good life, make friends" etc.)
Also, it's unlikely that you need to address the hard problem if consciousness if you only want to produce intelligence. Intelligence is a product of meta-cognition, or meta-consciousness, but is unrelated to phenomenological consciousness (the existence of qualiae, basically the hard problem). What matters for intelligence is the analytical ability if meta-cognitive thinking.

Dan, I’ve always wondered: Where did you get those eyes? You command respect in your thumbnails pretty much as good as it gets, and you’ve been making black and white thumbnails for like a year. It suggests you’ve been disillusioned by tragedies. Would you identify with being a serious and inquisitive tryhard in life? It’s my passion too. I call it Existential Conquest.
I began it based on a childhood memory when I stared up at the sky and vowed to fulfill a “true purpose”. I’ve been learning the meaning of transcendence ever since, with some wasted time. I signed up for the Kortex beta and received an invite on my birthday September 24th but was too sick to even check it for over a month by the time it expired. Do you share my longing for conquest and revenge, to take back everything you deserve by any means? I mean, still being a good person.
Do you have any single ultimate ambition? I have one to invent a particular thing and it’s the only thing I live for.

  • @josh_b_rad

Great video, but you got a couple of key ideas wrong:
    1. Exponential curves flatten as you zoom out. No. They flatten as you zoom in. Zoom out on human history and all of our progress has happened in the last percent.
    2. With a universal computer all things are computable. No. There are computations that would take so long that the universe would die of heat death first. Quantum computing might be the exception, but we don't know enough yet. At the moment quantum is only better for very specific computations.
You might enjoy the idea of computational irreducibility (Wolfram) and irreducible complexity (Hayek). There are some problems to which there is no computational short cut. Similar to the process of transformation you described. Stephen Wolfram has spent decades writing about this, and Dario Amodei speaks about this being one of the limiting factors of super intelligent AI.
