  • This fan is very lovely and heavy, Does need some polishing and its grill is bent but other than that it is good

    Really nice! That’s one beautiful fan. Honestly I think the brass looks great the way it is. I like that it has a good balance of patina and shine.

      Thanks, it is just lovely to look at. Yeah it does have shine to it which does add.

      Thanks. This fan is like a diamond in the fan collector world. This fan would stand out from others (especially compared to newer ones). And no problem

      @@Connectitthefancollector They made them to last in those days -not like the cheap Chinese ones sold everywhere now.

    I picked up an old one at the “tip” last year andIt does run, but I’ll have to check it now to see if it’s brushed or not.

      Is it like this fan? Either way that is a good find. If it is brushed then it'll have carbon brushes and a commutator. Brushless motors won't have those components

    Lovely thing that, sounds fine to me. You should swap the blades on the two GECs so the magnet is balanced. Also I did give the magnet more pitch when I had it so that is probably why it’s a bit more powerful.

    • @Connectitthefancollector
      @Connectitthefancollector  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh yes it is one lovely fan. A blade swap is something i'll consider. Did not know you gave it extra pitch but that does explain a lot

      @@Connectitthefancollector it wasn’t much extra but it makes a difference definitely, be careful with the magnet blade as if you don’t put it back on right it’ll be even more off balance lol

      @@TheCORC964 Ah right lol. I don't want that fan bein even more unbalanced then it already is.

      I prefer to leave the patina, just a good clean but no polish. If you prefer the polished finish then get a spray can of suitable clear coat to stop it going dull again.

    The GEC 12 inch freezer and 16 inch freezer use the same motor. The motor is only about 33 to 40 watts and is actually very efficient considering their age. The 12 inch freezer runs too fast though.

    • @Connectitthefancollector
      @Connectitthefancollector  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ricky-ym6ww Them using the same motor is an interesting choice by GEC. This one does draw around 40 when running which is very low for the time. Is there a video of the 12" one running as I would like to see it running?

    Very cool! It's rare to find a brush motor fan,.Was there a number in the cycles area of the tag?

    • @Connectitthefancollector
      @Connectitthefancollector  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. I think brushed motors is something that hasn't been used in a long time (at least for fans). And unfortunately there is no number written there

      I have the oscillating version of that fan, it is brush motor and "cycles" is stamped "DC". It is series connected to works on AC too. Took me quite some time to find new brushes to fit it.
