Looks great Jason, much similar what i have in my pack for multi day trips. Was on a 4 day hike/camp on the Barrow Way, finishing in St. Mullins on thursday...passing through a little bit of Laois too! Highly recommended. Look forward to your trip videos.
The only thing I changed is I took a bigger canister of gas which I didn't really need to do in the end but I felt better having the extra bit. I used this set up on the Slieve Bloom Way, I just set off there last Tuesday so I should have the video up next week. Fair play on your hike, I have heard it is stunning. There are so many trails to do in Ireland, the logistics of getting to and from the trails is the main problem for me anyway since most are point to point. The Barrow way is on the top of the list now, what is your next one?
@@RamblingOn I'm looking into a few trails for the next trip....maybe Avondhu Way/Duhallow way or maybe something a bit closer to home like the Sligo way. Do you take dried foods with you like pasta, etc? I haven't got my cooking system quite together yet, and sorta depend on towns/villages along the way. Looking forward to your trip video.
@@aidan8969 I was going to buy the dehydrated meals that everyone uses or the MRE ration packs but decided just to buy a dehydrator and make my own. I haven't got the hang of rehydrating them quickly yet. Maybe theres a bag I can get I'll see but yeah I used them on the Slieve bloom way and they worked really well. The meal weighed 600g and after it was dehydrated it weighed 120g and packed down small. It doesnt go off for months. I added in water a few hours before I wanted to eat and they were fully rehydrated then but I may try shorten that time. I used huel too which is a powdered food the only thing is your very reliant on water so I'm going to invest in a purifier like the Grayl ones.
@@RamblingOn Those Grayl purifier's seem the business! How often does the filter need replacing? Are they better than the Saywer filters, apart from being quicker .
@@aidan8969 as far as I could see they last for 350 uses compared to 1000 on the sawyers.. They remove the colouration in the water and any odd flavours where as the sawyer doesn't. They also kill or remove viruses as well as bacteria where the sawyers remove 99% of bacteria but I'm unsure about viruses if they would be included. Basically when you run water from a natural source through it it is supposed to be the same as having bottled water as its like a mini osmosis system. Saying all that I haven't looked too much into the other options so I definitely will be researching more before I buy anything. I do love looking into gear , if you see a similar purifier let me know I'd love to check it out, I know there is a salomon one but I haven't had a chance to look into it
This bag is like tardis haha Thank you for your thorough review on this and "after one year of use" videos. I bought the same bag just yesterday and your videos really helped me to make a decision. It fits perfectly, I can barely fill the weight when full, and I'm so excited to take it on an adventure! One question though, do you know what those elastics are for on both water bottle pockets?
Those elastics are there for you to grab when you're putting your water bottle back in... With some skill the idea is that you can remove and replace your bottle on the go without taking the pack off. Enjoy your adventures 🙌🍀
Miriam I like your channel! Drone shots reminded me of Foresty Forests canadian channel. Those mountains there really need trees, lots of trees where I live in Oregon, and lots of wildfire smoke right now as well
@@johndoe-lr9if thanks very much! Glad you liked the channel 😊 We’ve a beautiful country here in Ireland so it’s nice to show it off every now and again and let others see how lucky we are 🤗 You prompted me to have a read about the wildfire smoke in Oregon, good for me to learn what others are dealing with!
Thank you Carlos. The comfort rating is 6 degrees Celsius. Here is a short video I did on it, it will give you a better look at it th-cam.com/video/RJZ7hTYwodE/w-d-xo.html
Ah very perceptive.. I'll be doing a 3 day hike with two wild camps. I'm hoping to do two separate videos so that I can have plenty of info and shots in each without making one insanely long video that not many people would watch 😅
@@RamblingOn Nice. Next best thing to going camping oneself is being a vicarious couch warrior! Prolly smart since peoples attention spans are an avg. of 0.135 seconds long.. Squirrel!
