“It’s what I wanted and it’s my truck.” Does that mean it’s a keeper?!
    Next project… another barn.

Yep I like how you did the prep work. The only thing I didn't like about my prep work was I was supposed to seam seal and completely forgot as I got close to spraying. Just flew right outa my brain. That's ok, I'll get it on the next coat when I fix my messy finish.

And, just think, you get more content out of it.👍
      I'll be watching you.😁

@@Wrenchen-with-Darren you know it. I have a couple projects to go through first of course. There always seems to be something to video with me so I rarely struggle for content. Just struggle with delivery. My recipe is all over the place a the best of times. I think my daughters are right... might have a touch of turbo ADHD hahaha

Can I leave a high gloss primer as such without sealing? I rattle-canned my car a couple weeks ago and the fumes were a bit much for my setup. And my logic is I can repair it more easily if I don't seal the primer? It's really glassy with just the primer (2x Rustoleum) and I laid it on thick, about 12 cans.

Sorry, TH-cam didn't show me your comment. Anyway, yes you can run it that way. But, sometimes you can get rust bleed through. A sealer is best. I will double check the 2x and get back to you. I'd love to see it.

Ok, according to rustoleum.... the 2x primer is a rust inhibitor. So, you should be good. I've never used rattle can pait for a Finnish before. But, I'm having fun finding ways to get a nice glossy finish. Good luck to you.👍

@@Wrenchen-with-Darren Sorry for my own delay. I also didn't get a notification. I had been meaning to get back to you in video form to show you the results and I keep getting further behind on other stuff. The top coat appears to take a bit of shine off. But what I noticed is the clear coat beads the water better, so I can only assume without the clear coat the paint job won't last as long. Such as it is my son already rode past the car on his tricycle and scratched it (hunter green 2x) down to the old periwinkle. I'll have to see at some point if scratches like this are possible to repair without too much sanding of the clear coat. I still feel that without the clear coat it would be much easier to fix.
I'm hoping the sanding and prep I did for days on the periwinkle Matrix to paint it Hunt Green results in many years of beautiful paint, as I am otherwise very happy with the color.
My truck which is silver is already chipping 1.5 years later, (only over the bottom strip of the tailgate and only right after I laid down some bed spray). Something in that Rustoleum seems to re-wet old paint or something, even if it's peripheral secondhand contact with the spray.
Anyways for this particular job (the truck) I was just trying to cover up a green tailgate with silver and I didn't even sand it, so that was kind of expected.
As an aside, too many layers of paint really seems to wrinkle up that 2x stuff. I was so happy with the first 2-3 coats, waited literally weeks for the clear coat lacquer and it still wrinkled up in places. Need to sand it and restore it in these places, but I might not as I am happy enough with how it turned out. Next time I will probably refrain from too many coats with that particular 2x stuff and move straight to clear coat within the hour rather than waiting.
I don't know if you remember, I found you through Sean at Genetry. Seems like he's feeling down about the pace of things. It's tough waiting for paint to dry sometimes and dealing with all life's bs in the process, hope he finds a quick path to his desired result.

@wecharg yes, the clear coat will protect the paint much better, it also stops the oxidation. I think that is it's main purpose.
More layers of paint/primer, definitely slows the cure process.
I can't wait to see it.
As far as our friend goes.... he in relatively new to the country life and he is super busy!!! But, he seems to be doing well and good spirits. 👍
