About a year ago I had no clue about JDM cars and never really appreciated them but I was behind one of these. I found it funny how someone had put so much effort into the design of what I thought was originally a Daihatsu with a big exhaust, body kits and spoiler. I went to pass on the dual carriageway and then after loads of black smoke and the sound of turbo spool it disappeared! Crazy little car
i have the same car, and it's absolutely amazing and the best part is that when the turbo kicks in at 4000rpm , you'll sense as if the car wants to fly... and the launch is epic

Haha. Love these cars had one as my first car after "sharing" my mums corsa for a year it had only 170bhp though. I've had 3 since love them but happy with the Bmw now I'm too old To have a starlet 😬

I took the stock engine out in 2020, still running, albeit a bit smoky, and fitted a forged one so I could bump the power more. The original engine was fitted in 2009 and had over 100000 miles on it. I did fit new bearings but didn't re ring it. I ran it at up to 268bhp for a long time, before backing it down to 240ish later on. But it was still running and hadn't blown up Now it's running 295bhp, you can find videos of it on my channel.
awesome cars.. my glanza which ive just reshelled is over 100 more bhp then this.. love these cars and make a surprisingly fast track car. anytime your near london jamie dm me and i let you review mine..
great car. but it can be done far nicer than what it is. wheels doesnt look good with mixed colours either. proper seats needed and steering wheel. will make a world of diffrence
absolutely pointless comment, starlets weigh less than half your supra for starters, double the power of your car would mean the same power to weight. let that sink in for a bit then say a td04 starlet is slow

Using an MR2 engines in a Starlet would be a tricky swap to do and would invole loads of work. The gearbox for one would be a nightmare to fit.
A guy in Australia did it. Pretty mental. Took serious long term work tho.
+Rob S could even put the cellica gt4 engine in , there the same as mr2 turbo ain't they.
