I’ve been working at Lewmar for 6 years now making winches, love my job & take a lot of pride in what I do, it’s great to see our product out there being used & serviced years after it was made 😊👍🏻 obviously this one was made a few years before I joined the team.

Thanks for your comment, Dave. We love Lewmar products and have found them to be reliable for years! Obviously it's because of people like you, who enjoy your work and take pride in what you do, that the products are so great. With gratitude, Sheryl and Paul

Thank you for the educational. Leaving a winch handle in the winch after using is poor seamanship.

I think the smart call is to GoPro yourself breaking down the winch so you can see how it goes back together! Great video.

So how exactly is "winch grease" different from a high quality lithium or white grease, other than costing ten times as much at a marine supplier?

      I somewhat agree with you...
You are correct, anything with the "marine grade" name will have a premium. Lewmar just repackage the grease and takes a huge chunk.
It doesn't appear to me to be lithium grease, you can ask Lewmar for the MSDS and check for yourself. US Tech Support Email: ustechsupport@lewmar.com
      - As for *Harken*, their High Performance Winch Grease is a Fuchs FM GREASE AX/EP 2 and will cost you $1 per Oz instead of the $4.5 per Oz when Harken branded. It's just a 450% markup ; -)))
Ditto for the Harken pawl oil, it's a Bardhal T&D 80W-90. Markup is now 1,220%.
I seriously doubt that Harken grease is going to break your Lewmar
Now, if I am in dire need of it, in a harbor or a marina, I may swallow the pill rather than spending 2 hrs and 20 miles in an Uber going to the nearest Lube R Us to save $10.

Services winches once a year lmfao. Winches very very rarely ever get serviced until there is a problem.
