I'm from Sweden, and although our consent laws are very young a 20 year old guy sexually harassing a 16 year old is still super creepy. Even a 18 year old and 16 year old having sex is seen as a bit taboo. Not wholly unheard of, but not the norm.

I'll never quite get how so many people on the internet get with underage people. My entire friend circle has been online since I was like 14 onwards, and I think I only ever met one person when I was 21+ who was under 18. And they were 16 at the time. All we did is play counter-strike, but even then I can just tell the age difference. Even a few years of online culture can have a huge difference in maturity. I can't imagine trying to even speak intimately with younger people, if anything it'd just make me cringe half the time.

Even in our country the age of consent is 15 or 16, but it is seen more like the Romeo and Juliet law. Most people find it weird if a 30+ yold sleeps with 16 yold, even if legaly he is in the right. But what about a scenario where it is two minors in the same country where it is legal for them to do so? Should they also be banned and seen as sharing a CP because, well by definition, they are doing that? But for me it is because I think when two minors are attracted to each other they are just exploring their feelings. In theory, both would have to be charged since they both committed statutory sex crimes against each other (requesting and sending nudes of minors). But realistically, if someone's getting charged it's likely the male in the scenario (because court bias), which I'm sure has happened, but that depends on how law enforcement would want to handle things. As far as online communication services go, they tend to be based in the U.S., and thus be beholden to U.S. laws. If someone's banned in the U.S., it's likely banned on the platform period, even if it would be allowed locally somewhere else. Enforcement of local laws would likely be done on top of enforcement of U.S. laws. Assuming the bots don't detect the illegal imagery on their own, said content would likely only be removed if the website holder gets involved in criminal proceedings. If said content is removed, I assume they would automatically contact the authorities, but given the language and country barrier the reports may not go anywhere if the minors live outside of the U.S. So in short, their online accounts may have action taken against them, and they may get troubled by people online, but law enforcement may not bother to pursue charges.

I watch Found Footage horror movies on TH-cam. The other day I saw one where a woman is literally being r***d by a ghost, all of her is fully exposed, and it's not even age gated. It’s so easy to be these people and make a killing. All you have to do is not be a twat. That is literally all you have to do. Pay you bills, don’t do weird sexual shit and just don’t abuse people and you can be set for life.

I'll never quite get how so many people on the internet get with underage people. My entire friend circle has been online since I was like 14 onwards, and I think I only ever met one person when I was 21+ who was under 18. And they were 16 at the time. All we did is play counter-strike, but even then I can just tell the age difference. Even a few years of online culture can have a huge difference in maturity. I can't imagine trying to even speak intimately with younger people, if anything it'd just make me cringe half the time.

Even in our country the age of consent is 15 or 16, but it is seen more like the Romeo and Juliet law. Most people find it weird if a 30+ yold sleeps with 16 yold, even if legaly he is in the right. But I thought of something when you said "Even if the age of consent in sweeden is 15, you are on the internet that is irrelevant. If any images were to change hands that is child....". For example I had a classmate in my elementary school that once he turned 15 he started to... get around a lot of 15-16 yold girls. Which is fine and legal, but these girls were sending him nudes over facebook and instagram (this was 10 years ago but pretty sure minors still do this).
Does that in this scenario constitute as having a cp on your phone or sharing it and should my friend or those girls be banned/arrested for it? Why I am asking this is while what you are saying is correct, anyone asking a minor for these kinds of pictures over the internet is asking for a cp, even if that person asking for it is from a country where it is legal. But what about a scenario where it is two minors in the same country where it is legal for them to do so? Should they also be banned and seen as sharing a CP because, well by definition, they are doing that?
Maybe you won't find the question interesting because culturaly you don't see it okay for minors to be sharing it under any circumstances or to anyone which I totaly understand. But for me it is because I think when two minors are attracted to each other they are just exploring their feelings. Adults know that and they take advantage of this, which seems what this guy was doing, especialy from his later messages.
Because only in USA it is called cp if one party in the age range of 18-15 and the laws are different. An example here in germany it's called "jugendpornograpie". It is still illegal but most judges throw out such cases if both parties consent.

So that was my question, if what kira claims that your local law doesn't matter on the internet is true then how should an international comapny deal with cases such as what I mentioned. Should they ban them for sharing CP on their website? Should they get authorities involved? It is a really interesting problem imo.
Creating sexual imagery of a minor would be called child porn full-stop. If two minors created said material for each other, and they weren't charged with anything, it would be more of a "the police didn't care to pursue charges" situation. The average person would tell the minors not to do things like that, but likely wouldn't want to formally charge them with anything. In theory, both would have to be charged since they both committed statutory sex crimes against each other (requesting and sending nudes of minors). But realistically, if someone's getting charged it's likely the male in the scenario (because court bias), which I'm sure has happened, but that depends on how law enforcement would want to handle things.
As far as online communication services go, they tend to be based in the U.S., and thus be beholden to U.S. laws. If someone's banned in the U.S., it's likely banned on the platform period, even if it would be allowed locally somewhere else. Enforcement of local laws would likely be done on top of enforcement of U.S. laws. Assuming the bots don't detect the illegal imagery on their own, said content would likely only be removed if the website holder gets involved in criminal proceedings. If said content is removed, I assume they would automatically contact the authorities, but given the language and country barrier the reports may not go anywhere if the minors live outside of the U.S.
So in short, their online accounts may have action taken against them, and they may get troubled by people online, but law enforcement may not bother to pursue charges.
@@flarestorm9417 Yeah most likely, especialy since its impossible to 100% verify if the person using the account is an acual minor so he would have to banned, at least on the mainstream US based sites. Plus if the image is in your chatroom, then it is stored on their servers so they also own CP at that point, they have to remove it.

Swede here, the sexual legal age in Sweden is 15, but that age limit is aimed to protect, not to stop young people from having sex, so two 15-year old can have sex with each other legally.
However, what determines what can be classified as a sex crime in Sweden is:
* How big the age difference between the people is.
* The difference in how developed the people are, for example, what experiences they have.
* If the persons have had sex voluntarily. Having sex with someone who doesn't do it voluntarily is always illegal.
But people under the age of 15 cannot be convicted of sexual offenses or other crimes, because they are not old enough to be punished. If people under the age of 15 have sex in a way that is classified as a sex crime, a prosecutor can open an investigation to find out what happened.
