There is an option/alternative to the traditional builder route and few folks know about it. With home affordability as it is, saving money is at the top of everyone's mind. If they take on the management of the new construction, they can save huge amounts of money. It is an option anyone building a new home should check out. I plan to do this for my forever house. The issue: With traditional one close construction loans with GC attached, everyone I talked to is begging for me to do my loan with them because I'm EXTREMELY qualified and low risk borrower. But if I GC my own build, no one would lend to me. I'd have to go hard money lending...
