As a former Rock Radio DJ and stubborn SOB who listens almost exclusively to Rock and Metal, I'm widening my horizons and listening to music I would have never ever listened to before.
Is it any good? You'll have to watch to see!

I saw Papa Roach's 20th anniversary show at the Troubadour about 10 years ago. It was fucking epic.

I’ve caught them a dozen times or so. Their live shows are always soooo good!

@@ReactionsThatRock First time I saw them live, they opened for Buckcherry at a crappy casino theater out in the Inland Empire (which has been replaced, apparently, and is now quite nice with tix that go for 10x as much). My friend and are were blown away. We're like, "Why the fuck are they the opener?" No offense to Buckcherry and Josh, but Jacoby and his crew were absolutely on fire that night.

By the way, thanks for sharing some of your personal story. I know some people figure "whatever," but I recognize how tough it can be to put yourself out there. It's ALWAYS a risk to expose yourself that way, even when (or especially when) you are doing it from the heart. Justin Hawkins did a whole show about his sobriety and his fuckups and laid a lot of it out there to give others something they could identify with. My respect for him went to the top when he did that. ❤🤟

Awe thanks. I used to keep so much of myself very guarded. Now that I'm mid-40s I just don't care to hide it anymore. I'm an open book. I can't be embarrassed and I can't be insulted. It's honestly a powerful place to be and I wish it for anyone and everyone who's ever been a target for cruelty. Also, Justin Hawkins is more manly than most men I know! Dude is legit!

Yeah he is. Dude has been through it and put so much of his energy in to helping others who are going through it!

Good comparison with Shinedown. They have been touring together a lot the last few years so I think there is some influence there. I am not a big fan of their last couple albums. They have been going in some different directions. Partially because Jacoby has finally gotten clean and sober, partially because they have been doing this a long time and I am sure they have different interests now. I know they still bring it live and their shows are lit. Sadly, I haven't had the chance to see them since 2019, but my daughter still hits their shows regularly.
For a while there, they were my 2nd favorite band after Iron Maiden. Who, incidentally haven't impressed me much with their recent albums either. But they also still kill it live. And all the great stuff they have done over the years earns them the right to experiment and play what they like. I still support both bands and buy all their albums even if I don't listen to them much. I mean, Maiden has been rocking my world since 1982, why wouldn't I support them to the end?
I have The Warning to keep on heavy rotation now so, it's all good.

I respect Maiden sooooo much but could never quite take the full plunge. I found their stuff to be almost too operatic for my tastes. That said, I’d totally catch them live if they played within a 4 hour radius.
I find both Papa Roach and Shinedown to be at that career stage where they can play around and experiment with sound a bit. I’ve actually enjoyed deeper cuts of both bands albums over the past few years but found the radio singles to be a bit blah.
It’s been about 4 years since I’ve seen Papa Roach live. Always a good show even if the tour is in support of a meh album. 😎🤘🔥

@@ReactionsThatRock Exactly. They have a way of making even meh songs fun live. They know how to perform and put on a show.
Last album of theirs I loved was Crooked Teeth, which came out in 2017.
They like to do a bunch of colabs, and remixes. I get the vibe that they are just having fun and doing what they want without any label meddling. Can't fault a band for following their passions.
