What, Wolfman doesn't have nard!" -Monster Squad When it comes to the Castlevania games, I'm damn good. I have beaten every mainline Castlevania game without dying before. We're talking when these games were new, no save states, and no cheating devices. However, I have never seen anyone beat Death without taking a hit. I generally plug him with half life but never unscathed. That was truly very cool to watch and after dinner I will be seeing if I can emulate your playstyle. I'm about 3 months to 40....so I'm not a kid anymore. I thought the hunchback guys were called fleas? I might be thinking of Ninja Gaiden....that was my goto game as a kid in the Nes days. Well...until I got my Genesis in '89 then it was all about the 16-bit revolution (remember that?). First, you're a fan of The Monster Squad! Second, you're a member of the Gen X crew! Now, you tell me you love the sweet science....subscribed!
Yes, bats can be "big-ass". Go to the Philippines or Sri Lanka or anywhere in Southeast Asia. The giant vampire bats there have 6 foot wing span and teeth 3 inches long.

Great play-through well done, you did amazing against death and also the corridor before him. I've got into the habit of spamming the holy water and always using the watch to get through the clock tower. It's been a long time since I've played this game legit, you've inspired me to put some hours in to be able to play this again without feeling like a cheater. Are you playing this on your modded top loader?
@@lordkayoss Oh ok, I was wondering how you were finding it? I wanted an HDMI NES, but I'm in the UK so getting a US model modded + shipping + 20% import tax was extortionate. So I opted for the Retro USB AVS.
I about spit my drink out laughing at "Simon's big smile on his face". Caught me by surprise there, haha. I've always been a stunlock-every-boss-with-holy-water man, but you made a damn fine case for the boomerang. Here's a trick I only learned recently, you can actually walk right through Drac's final form when you have him stunned with holy water. Timing is a bit tight, but I find it more reliable than slipping under his jump.

These days, yes. On my older playthroughs I had an NES (front-loader) running the A/V cable to the RF switch to a CRT, while the composite outs were running to a capture device. I preferred that setup since it gave me zero input lag.

Always a great review LK. The Stop Watch comes in handy at the start of stage 4 with all the moving platforms and bats. Also works well on Medusa.

Love it. Castlevania 2 didn't stand a chance with this game. Number 3 is similar though. N64 version was decent.
