I have a comeup winch with 4 bolts and never had an issue. I switched out the wireless remote to a tuff remote that is rechargeable. I contacted a local tow company about where they get their cables. I order from them and had it shortened to what I need. That long of a cable is ridiculous.

Sorry forgot to say you can get tensioners for them. Don’t waste your money on a warn.

The gear ratio on this version is extremely good. It is slower from the gear ratio, but you get 8k off the last wrap which is 4k on a 12k winch. So you don’t have to unwind it all to get maximum pulling pounds. A higher gear ratio also stresses the motor less, which requires less amp pull. It is a very good winch.
You can also swap with a synthetic rope, just getting a slightly longer attachment screw for the drum. Steel cables are also very cheap. The batteries are replaceable and cheap, though I prefer using the hard line unless I’m inside pulling myself. Anyone using equipment a lot will opt for wired versus wireless due to common sense.
Not serious issues. This is more of a whining review about wearable items wearing out.

When I was shopping for a replacement for my old Warn, you get lured in to the Smitty’s by specs but I talked to a bunch of guys who own them and every one said they wouldn’t buy another. Not having a tensioner is going to wear the cable out pretty quick. Some argue for the price, you can buy 4 Smitty’s for one Warn but I’d rather have a Warn. You get what you pay for.

I have the same winch with exact problems and then some. Mine is two years old. Button on remote ripped off but still works by using something to press. The switch to turn off on the winch broke. I wired together until I make a decision. Still working strong but hard to find individual replacement parts. Bolts on the rods that hold the drum together come loose over time. I like the price point and will probably replace it with the exact one. Buy a second remote because you will lose, misplace, or break. Set up for snatch block to save the winch.

LOL, same issue here; I'm thinking those of us who bought it all have the same problem! Mine struggles just pulling up a Ventrac SSV; I mean, wtf? How does a 17500-pound winch struggle pulling on a little shit machine when it's supposed to be able to pull Cars and Trucks? Can anyone offer some advice for a solution? Thanks

If you put synthetic on there you won't need the tensioner

Comeup winches are good. I have one on my rolloff trailer.

Way too much cable for what you are using it for. 175000lbs with one wrap on drum.

Do yourself a favour and checkout Sherpa winches by far the heaviest duty winches I’ve seen not chinese junk. Worth the extra cost. Reliability is the most important thing. Keep your winch as a backup if anything happens to the Sherpa. Mack sure you weld the nuts theft is a real thing.
