The Al Green Super Megamix

- If you have looked over my other uploads, you may have noticed some mash ups and megamixes sprinkled in the original remixes. Today, I just had to put a megamix together with Al Green as the focus. Growing up in the 70's with my ear to the radio in Detroit, MI exposed me to the music of Al Green. There is a positive message in all of his music and there is no surprise to me in finding out that Al Green would eventually move into preaching. These days, I think it is important to remember his musical legacy, he is in the same league as Earth, Wind & Fire for being able to incorporate uplifting lyrics into every song he recorded. The 70's were a time of economic change, hell gas prices were increasing daily and I soooo remember during the oil embargo the price jumping to 45 cents a gallon in 1974. The economy sucked, but everyone just seemed to look at it and say, the hell with it, Im going to get dressed up and go out dancing. The world seems to be a meaner and more vicious place today, and pop music is supposed to help you forget that for a while, and give you something to hang on to when it gets really bad. Detroit in the early 70's began to change in that the black community started moving on up into better neighborhoods. I was ashamed to see that someone had spray painted the n word on the alley side of their garage followed by "go home". How stupid is that, they were already home. The real message was "you are not welcome in this neighborhood". A few of the white neighbors got some paint together and helped to cover up the wounding words. It was the talk of the neighborhood for some time, whispers about how the property values were going to decline because of THAT family. Detroit had fallen prey to real estate agents who had everything to gain by spreading that rumor. They sold houses for higher prices in areas they deemed to be white enclaves and the "white flight" phenomenon was born. That is what happens when society is divided, playing the lack of knowledge of each race against each other. Plus, we had those nasty ass riots in the summer of 67 that had razed the commercial areas in the black communities that never were replaced. Al Green brought Memphis soul to the masses and his music played regularly on white and black stations. In the summer time, you could hear the same Al Green song drifting out of car radios of whites and blacks, he was able to reach out and touch everyone. These days, there are so many genres and niches of music, stations that play a very particular type of music and nothing else, its difficult to get the message out to everyone. I hope you enjoy this Al Green sampler and I urge you to check out more of his music, its what you have been waiting for.

I love me some Al Green! Thanks Bro! My cousin Mike who lived in Bakersfield turned me on to Al Green when we were in high school back in the early 70's. We used to cruise the blvd in his VW Bug with these tunes cranked up, just a couple of white boys diggin' Mr Al Green. It never get's old!!

Great mix very well done. Al Green had a great voice and style. Read when he was young a girlfriend that was mad at him threw a pot of hot boiling grits on him. YIKES. Sounds like he has known some pain in his life.
It doesn't matter How Mad you can be at Someone - that is just down right Disgraceful Behavior !!! ~~ ?
One of my favorite artists. 73 and still have moves for his music
God Bless Rev !!
This is so good it's ridiculous!!!
Thank you for a masterful mix!!! ❤❤❤
I am so happy I got to see him in person in the 70s, one of my favorites of the 70s decade of R&B never disappointed thank you for the remix
His music so smooth and just elegant but yet its depressing when you hear the lyrics, that’s why and which is what I think I’m not suppose to do is listen to this while I’m feelin down or sad and after listening or during I contemplate the existence of myself and our species and love too
oui ,Super ILS Était un Homme plein d'espoir et un Fantastique Chanteur compositeur

Yes, this is for the adults, thank you sir. I'm about to subscribe but I'm looking everywhere to hear medley featuring "Ali Woodson, Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass, Gerald Levert, & The main man...Barry White". If you can do that, I pay good $$$ if done right! :)
I enjoyed your video :)

Who's the best? You can only pick one. 😊
Barry White
Marvin Gaye
