      The clothes have obviously been laundered many times, and it takes about 50 wear-wash cycles for them to get broken-in and comfortable. And comfort is crucial when you're working in the material world.

    There are some true gems in this episode:
    "This is a classic Leno project. You take a car that's not worth anything, you put 20 to 30 grand into it, and it's worth 12,500 just like that!"
    "I don't know why it needs to be so fast, but everything should be faster."
    Thanks for the detailed update, Jay! Sharing your garage with us in this way is almost like being there...almost. That Mercedes 600 is so amazing. Do you have any BMW projects planned for the future? I'd love to see a 3.0 CSL, an M1, or an E28 M5 in your garage!

      +wayne creech These episodes are the best. It tends to become tiring to watch the shows with interviews, as they are more like monologues, because he never seems to listen to people and always interrupts. He should really work on that.

      @DougCameraMan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Henrik Carlsen I agree these are great, but I also like the interview videos as well. He's a talker, yeah, and it's his talking ability that made him the money to be able to afford this garage so be glad that he is a talker ...yes, he occasionally interrupts doing the conversations, but who doesn't when you're enthusiastic about a topic? Main thing is he gets along well with the the people that visit his garage and they're always interesting and entertaining.

      Back in the '60s, someone asked a sports-car racing team owner, "Can you make a small fortune racing sports-cars professionally?" He wisely replied, "Only if you start out with a large fortune." As you know, Jay does it because he loves cars and wants to preserve them. He considers himself a trustee of the collection. (Considering he knows, and is friends with, other "Keepers of the Flame," I kinda think he's probably made arrangements to keep it together after his passing---and, please the gods, let that be in the distant future!) Stay safe, everybody.

    • @parentsbasement7734
      @parentsbasement7734 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oldenweery7510 I wonder if it's set up to be a working museum when Jay goes to the collection in the sky, I only assume that his long time employees are well taken care and would still carry on the care and upkeep and growth of the collection. I wonder all added up what this collection is worth. I know he was buying a lot of these now super high priced cars like the Bugattis and duecenburgs when they were "cheap" Wonder what the insured Value is.

      I think it was Richard Childers that said, if you want to make a millions dollars racing , you just have to invest two million dollars. That was back in the 1990s. Today if you want to make a million dollars racing, you need $25,000,000 just to bribe NASCAR,

    I had restored a 74 Satellite that I found with pretty low miles from an older couple here in Iowa who only bought it to get home from California because their other cars engine went. So it sat for several years. They hoped it was going to a good home and it was to be my first solo restoration. I restored it with minor mods like custom paint, updated interior, minor performance upgrades and took it back to show them after it was done and they broke down crying. I was proud of that car as it was my first engine rebuild and restoration. I had helped a friend who bought my 67 Falcon with a 289 in it to turn it into a drag car because I knew my way around it. But it was his new baby. Our first restorations are always the ones closest to our hearts. When you can show the previous owners that they made the right decision in selling the car to you. It is even more special. So I totally get where you are coming from Jay when you want to take the previous owners out for a ride.

    Your awesome Jay, love the passion you have for cars. The electric car is a riot, air conditioning, Bluetooth, etc. Keep up the good work you are a blessed man.

    C'mon Jay, when are you going to suck it up and admit that electric power is the most sustainable answer for future automotive power? I LOVE your Detroit Electric! I live in Malibu and commute to Bev Hills in a Tesla. It works fantastically well! Now, as for my weekend cars and bikes, well let's just say I hope I don't need a smog check anytime soon:) I also want to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to you for all of your hard work and dedication over the years. My father passed a few years ago and some of the fondest memories I have of him are watching your Tonight Show and early Garage videos on TH-cam with him. Every time I watch one of your videos it feels like he is right there enjoying the show with me. Thanks Jay! God Bless!

    So cool that you restore anything that come your way. Raised in a car shop/garage myself I feel like your garage is a dream. May you live forever, Jay.

    I love your ending to this video. If your hair/clothes were different than it would not be Jay Leno's Garage.

    Thank you Jay. I do enjoy these videos. Thank you for keeping these cars and bikes alive. They're a part of our national heritage and deserve to be restored, preserved, and driven. Thank you for doing it all.

    Jay, love you for everything you do.
    Don't ever stop doing what you do.
    I have so much respect for the guys working for you too.
    They are artisans not mechanics.

    Thanks for this Jay. I truly enjoyed it. It's so nice to see the old stuff being brought back to life even better than it started out. Love what you are doing. Tip my lid to you sir. Cheers from snowy Newfoundland, Canada

    Jay Leno, I continue to watch your videos year after year because I think you are real. So many fakes out there but it's obvious you are a real car guy. You not only collect cars but you work on them and your knowledge of the automobile is something to be admired. My wardrobe is very much like yours. Denim is real. It's good for another 100 years.

    Exciting update as usual. I love the fact that you are going to restore the Nash and then take the previous owner for a ride. So many famous show business people have nothing but drama. Unlike them you are a stand-up guy and a good example. Keep up the good work!

      +Aussie2u And the runner up: "This is a classic Leno project: you take a car that's not worth anything, you put $20-30,000 into it, and it's worth $12,500 just like that!"

    These videos are a nice break from the overproduced car reviews I watch. It's like talking to a good friend about his car informally in his garage on the weekend.
