Not all vocalists can sound like one an other, mike has his own unique style and is a beast... Whoever doesn't like this is fuckin diluted.. New contortionist album in 2 weeks :)
Mikes vocals are fucking intense now. His screams are a lot deeper than they were on LCTR's Level 2. I personally think he's better than Jon in every way possible. Yeah it sucks theres no live synths but I couldn't care less, mikes one of the best vocalists ever.
No, this experience was at the Majestic Theater in Detroit. But I wouldn't be surprised that is happened else where. They've built up enough steam that people just want more material from the guys. They could play a one hour set and no one would say a word.
I was just at a BTBAM show, they were the second band up there and blew everyone away. There were some people moshing but what was different was the sound they were getting. It sucked everyone in. Before their last song they did the classic, "Alright, this is our last song." Everyone was actually pissed off. The singer even said he was upset which is something I never heard before. They were just so fuckin' good man.
I loved this!! I've seen them live twice but never get tired of watching their show. It's nice to see their setlist change, I'm glad they added Anatomy Anomalies. Lessard is a great replacement too. The next album will probably be exceptional. This band is seriously GREAT.
If these guys ever play within 100miles of where I live, I'll be there.. I understand being pissed at the seemingly dead crowd, but I think they were just in awe. I'm gonna bring my hammock for the chill parts, especially anomalies. Probably just gonna do the windmill for heavy sections in the hammock too.
The sound here is fantastic! I saw them at the Majestic in Detroit and the room was awful for sound. It was a giant old ballroom with no bass traps or soundproofing Every band struggled for good sound but they all played great none the less!
The Contortionist has alot of instrumental parts. When Jonathan was in the band, he was on keys, so everyone always had something to do. But now the new guy has no choice but to dance around haha.
Everyone seem to complain about crowd standing still, but the band isn't any better. The playing is really tight, but they should move once in a while as well. When a band is having good stage prescence it affects the audience as well and will probably make them "go nuts" more easily. Technically and soundwise the performance sounds flawless though.
Didn't say that it was always the case, but it's an important factor. Not uncommon that the crowd goes nuts regardless of what's going on visually on stage, but the band could most likely have avoided this situation with showing more energy on stage and getting the crowd more involved.
It's hard to mosh when you go from balls out death metal to really smooth jazz parts. The Contortionist like cynic is a very eclectic band. I myselfam more of a headbanger i like to vide to this music.
I really hope when they get a permanent leadman he plays keys like Jonathan did. ..Looks stupid when your singing is off in the corner dry humping an amp during the instrumental parts..and of course pumping pre-recorded keyboard sounds in a live set isn't cool IMO.
Love who Cameron always seems to be drifting on the music. People shit on their stage presence a lot but I actually digg all of it.
Jordy R They don't need to jump around like a bunch of idiots for the presence to be huge. Just seeing how into their music they are is enough for me.

Mike Lessard is amazing!
Can't believe I slept on Intrinsic when it released. Now it's my favorite album by them, super experimental.
I know you, you're scared to be on your own.
I'll always be there for you.
The drummer is so damn good. Those licks at 11:52
Mike was the absolutely perfect addition to this band. Holy shit.
It's funny cuz he's doesn't want to scream anymore but he's pretty amazing at it. Either way, this band is very talented
They are perfect live. Amazing

Agreed to the fullest extent.
This band is amazing live, best live preformances and unimaginably tight. Sad that they didn't get to play anything from Exoplanet :(
Fuck man. Geocentric Confusion gives me so many feels. Dem chills tho...
the ending is so sick, very melodic.

Damn what a set! I'd give anything to hear them play these songs again 😭
I'm glad they played everything off of there latest album, i think it's better than exoplanet
this band fucking owns
Wow, I knew he seemed familiar. He's the vocalist for last chance to reason which is a great band as well!
Mike Lessard grew on me for sure.
HOLY FUCKKKKK THE TEMPO CHANGE AT 6:02 IN HOLOMOVEMENT MAKES ME WANT TO SHAKE MY FACE THE FUCK OFF. I love these guys.

A+ performance! I especially loved Cortical.

@Stanley Yelnats Thank you. Nice to see someone enjoying Intrinsic and the surplus of random Contortionist sets here along with me, rock on man!
Thank you for recording this 👍🏽🤘🏽🙌🏽🔥
These guys are badass!!!!!!!!!!!! Book them on European festivals. I promise they are totally capable and need to be there.
I really hope there's keyboards on the next album, and if so, I hope they get someone to play them live.
Daniel Ressler 👌😏
Saw this guys live, vocalist is insane hahaha very nice show though :D
love this band
Amazing performance!

People asking what's up with the crowd: They're not exactly a moshing band. I love moshing but I would probably just stand there taking it all in.
That armo at 7:52 and the Loosy breakdown in 5/16 at 8:30.. My God!
7:03 LOL so awesome!
Is that michael cera singing up there
The sound here is fantastic! I saw them at the Majestic in Detroit and the room was awful for sound. It was a giant old ballroom with no bass traps or soundproofing Every band struggled for good sound but they all played great none the less!
Don't forget Solipsis at 23:58 in the description, lol.
No problem! THANKS for these awesome videos!
Really good.
masters of their craft.
THX!
Brilliant.
That anatomy anomalies outro
+Joseph I get lost in that last 30 seconds every time I listen to the song. I play it over probably 4-5 times lol
+Cessna 182a I know right. I love how they always do little alternative bits of the original songs.
I see they got a new vocalist.
One word, Awesome.
Vocalist is doing strange shit in the background, and bassist is drinking a lotta fucking water, but whatever, the contortionist is awesome
and u care for things that.... well... fuck off...
Ely J. F. Homsi
ow you´re so rude :(
As a performer, staying hydrated as well as conditioning are a key factor. As far as the singer....lol
sorry i didn´t see the water behind haha, i´m a singer myself so i know water is essential ;)
The Contortionist has alot of instrumental parts. When Jonathan was in the band, he was on keys, so everyone always had something to do. But now the new guy has no choice but to dance around haha.
yeah it's already up
Ah, missed the prev comment that said "in awe" already. Fucking whoops
they uploaded the Sacramento show
SALUDOS DESDE PERÚ THE CONTORTIONIST !

The Contortionist ♥
New vocalist is fucking dope
:O They're moving again!

analogic prog
So gooooood
Was that at the NYC show? Cause I was there and recall something similiar happening
did you get The Safety Fire? I'm not seeing it in your videos oh noo :(

Bullshit. I've seen many live performances of this band and this crowd was very tame.
Didn't say that it was always the case, but it's an important factor. Not uncommon that the crowd goes nuts regardless of what's going on visually on stage, but the band could most likely have avoided this situation with showing more energy on stage and getting the crowd more involved.
I'm pretty sure they’re not moving because they're just in awe of the majesty that’s being presented to them
It's hard to mosh when you go from balls out death metal to really smooth jazz parts. The Contortionist like cynic is a very eclectic band. I myselfam more of a headbanger i like to vide to this music.
24:00 Solipsis
Do you guys have the faceless
he sounds good. but jonathan did all the keyboards and the vocals live. wish he would come back.
dat crowd doe
Dude. They are The Contortionist. They are all stoned.
Is the vocalist high?
1:37 a rare baca headbang
U must not follow the band enough to know who's in it
It would be really boring to be JUST the vocalist of these guys
?.. where old vocal
I'm a little disappointed that they're not playing anything off of Exoplanet on this tour.
1st view too
I really hope when they get a permanent leadman he plays keys like Jonathan did. ..Looks stupid when your singing is off in the corner dry humping an amp during the instrumental parts..and of course pumping pre-recorded keyboard sounds in a live set isn't cool IMO.
He is the permanent replacement. You know this right?
itLEAKED
Vocalist needs moar stage presence.
