Absolutely loved this video! So nice and calming with the music, thank you Paul! The ultrasonic machines realy make a big difference, we took my daughter's rocks out of the polish stage last night and even after a proper borax wash it didnt shine as much. But she had a bit of a mixed batch and i told her not all will have that brilliant shine in the end ❤❤❤
@@paulhardie i only have a rotary tumbler, im still new in the game only started at the beginning of the year but have been collecting my whole life! I had to import it from America as i was unable to get one in SA. Still want to get a dremel, but have lots of sanding paper to keep me busy as well! 😂
@@HettieJansenVanVuuren they may be difficult to obtain over there but vibe tumblers are a real game changer both in time to complete batches and grit/polish used, and not forgetting their ability to not be so fussy rock hardness 👍
@@paulhardie thanks Paul, at the beginning of this year i came accross someone in SA who selled them on fb but wast able tonmake contact. He was selling those for about R3500 (rand to US dollar approx. R18 per dollar). I will see if i am able to find him again, not that far from me about 50km. Have a great day Paul! Thanks for always giving advice and info!
I have been searching for videos on how to cut up some large chunks of stone I have and this is the perfect example I needed! Thank you So Much for doing this!
Thank you ☺I'm not sure what other uses Silicon Carbide has but in rock tumbling it's used to shape the rocks through constant grinding in the tumbler, starting at #46 or #80 grit then moving onto #220 and #600 getting smoother with each grit change then finally using Aluminium Oxide as the polish 👍
Is your Tumble-Vibe the V-10? What brand and model is the other one? Do you like them and what would you change about them if you could? I and thinking about getting a vibrating tumbler. I also saw 5 old computers on the shelf with 3.5 in floppy drives.
I've had a Thumler's UV-10 (black bowl) for a few years and love it, just recently I added a RayTech TV-10 (blue bowl) which does much the same job but is a lot noisier, if I had to choose I'd go with the Thumler's 👍 I have a few computers I use to drive plotters and printers (my real job) 😁which are fairly old, ATX power supplies etc. I keep the ones you saw for parts when needed 😀
Absolutely beautiful!😊
Thank you ☺
Good video

Thank you, yes not all rocks will polish and having mixed rock hardness doesn't help.
Are you using a rotary or vibe tumbler for the final stages ?

I was very happy to find that Smokey Quartz with the tourmaline 👍

Excellent, so glad you found it helpful ☺
It was my understanding cutting quartz without respirator can cause serious lung issues. Love your channel.
Absolutely, silicosis can be deadly, in fact cutting any rock without a respirator is asking for trouble 😷
Thanks for your support for my channel ☺
Nice batch Paul, the Tourmaline inclusions look amazing. Well done my friend great video.
Thank you Gordon ☺
I was very happy to find a few pieces with Tourmaline inclusions 👍
Wowwwww very Big my friend
Almost too big . . . but not quite 😁
Hey thanjs Paul! I pulled some nice big wiartz pieces out of lake superior and want to make them into candle holders. Need a diamond blade saw.
I hope the video helped you, good luck with Quartz 👍

Do u take requests? For carvings?
Sorry Melissa, I don't do any carvings 🤔
Is there a specific type of respirator needed for cutting quartz?
I use a standard respirator mask, it's recommended for all rock types 👍
What's your location for the mining?
I'm in Western Australia, the Rose Quartz was a purchase from the local rock shop 👍

Hi Abby, I can't see what those emojis are . . . but I'm sure they were complimentary 😁
@@paulhardie weird, they were pink hearts for the rose quartz
@@abbyW I've given up trying to understand what computers do and why they do it 😆
