Wow, cool process and it sure transformed that nugget. I would definitely freak out to find one a 1/4 that size. Thanks for sharing, good luck, happy hunting and take care. Wishing you an amazing new year.
this is lye (sodium hydroxide) not acid the same thing you use to make soap. hydrofluoric acid will dissolve silica and those are your only two options
@@WorldScienceTV Thanks for the reply . I understand that you used lye to dissolve the quarts, but near the end of the video you used 1 oz hydrochloric acid to clean/neutralize the nugget. I just wanted to verify . Also I noticed they solution was hot when you added the 1oz of hydrochloric acid , is this right. Thank you !
You first off never pore acid into a base. At this point in the video there was almost no lye left in the liquid. Only the nugget in clean water heated in a well ventilated area with your lungs at a safe distance hot acid is bad very very bad. And yes about 1 ounce

Why u put it in a meter pot for? Lol u were turning ur solution into more salt than acid n ur inside without the water cleaning vapors , PEASE DONT TRY THIS AT HOME ESPECIALLY THIS WAY
Turned out better than I thought is was gonna. Beautiful specimen!. . . We need to move up stream this spring :)
Ya you wouldn't believe the look on my partners face when I found it.😂
Subbed 😁🤙, what an awesome specimen man and great job with the dissolving of the quartz
Great Video. You have a gift for teaching!

Thank you. hope you have a great new year and always love your input and I did Freak out when I found it.
youtube is getting annoying with all the commercials
do you need to use a stainless steel pot/pan when heating the lye?
Yes
The gold in quartz has a greater value as a gem than as the gold nugget inside. Counterproductive.
All depends on the piece lol
Thank you so much !!! That's a wealth of info I so needed!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice job.
Good job!
Is it hydrofluoric acid or hydrochloric acid ?

Great idea to use a multimeter. Very clever.
what name the white poder ?
Lye or sodium hydroxide I found pure lye in red devil drain cleaner
Hydro flouric acid works great for that
Wow, looks great.
Thanks Rayvan I love the way it turned out
i need an experiment done. Will you get à hold of me
what is your experiment
Kind of neat with the multi, enter!
If you use sulfuric acid at the end, you will have silica sand
Interesting fact. At this point the lye and silica should be mostly rinsed away. Thank you for your input
Wouldn't a bright light show you the shape? Nice find though 😋
Not always
Sir Your Great
Love it.
You can order 30% hydroperoxide and that'll do the job excellent
Hydrogen peroxide doesn’t have the same out come on a silica base rock
@@WorldScienceTV I just knew that it would dissolve the courts as much as you want 30% is pretty strong

This should be done with a good mask on if your going to stand over it like that
It would be advised for anyone that doesn’t have proper ventilation
