    A 50 year sentence for this is unbelievable! I rewinded twice to where they said “50 years” to make sure they weren’t saying “15 years.” They say there is no such thing as victimless crime but I’d say that stealing from a casino is pretty damn close.

    • @sam-psonsmith9951
      @sam-psonsmith9951 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      stealing from the wealthy means stealing from those who made the laws ;)
      laws are there to protect the rich from the poor. also poor from poor. but that is more so that all the poor people know that there are no exceptions for them. not without the money to go into court.
      you can do basically whatever you want as long as you got the money to get away with it.

      RacinGIRL911 it’s not theft when everyone knows the rules and no one is being forced to play against their will.

    • @Racingirl911
      @Racingirl911 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arnold De Shay A very good point, indeed!! 👍🏼😊. If only everyone went into a casino with the same frame of mind I had when I went to Vegas. The money I took into the casinos was pretty much what I could “afford to lose”. And when that base amount was gone, I was done playing. Period. If, when it was time to leave, I had more than my base amount left, I merely considered it to be icing on the cake!!
      Unfortunately, as we are all painfully aware, there are those people who go there with the express reason to “hit it big”! However, for one reason or another they get caught up in the thrill of win, and usually end up blowing money they can NOT afford to lose. But, I’m guessing/hoping that a great number of people go into casinos just to have fun!

  • @patrickmaloney1810

    Why does the IRS want $350000 from this guy? Surely they can't tax someone on illegal gains otherwise they would essentially be profiting from crime. And why does the insurance company want him to pay back the million that they paid the casino? And why was he sentenced to 50 years when known jihadi terrorists have served less? Someone is getting paid backhanders here. This stinks!

    • @jamesb8305
      @jamesb8305 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bosefuss DaBrun It's called taxable gambling income. The WG-2s were filed to the taxing authorities by the casino. They don't care who won, they want their tax money. Also, why would he NOT be held accountable for returning the million dollars to the insurance company? He stole the money from the insurance company, and are entitled to get that money back, especially if he was convicted of the crime.

    In my country (USA) as long as you commit theft, fraud, etc. you won't get tried much less convicted as long as you are part of a bank or stock company or are part of some other powerful, rich company/group.
    As far as I'm concerned, good for those guys for getting one over on the casino. If only they had gotten away with it.
    Rigging games for customers to lose or at least rarely win, countless crimes committed by wallstreet type folk, killing people on an oil rig by ordering unsafe practices also resulting in major environmental and economic damage, etc. etc. etc. with no jail time. You like smoking the "wrong plant" life in jail. Petty theft? Jail time for you.
    It is no wonder that so many people hate this corrupt system we have. Now when are we going to start doing something about it?

    Criminals yes, 50 years for stealing from criminals, that too. Not so sure that makes much sense, and legally I don't believe they (he) could be made to serve such a long sentence either. I can see 5-10, but they weren't serial killers. 50 years, Really!!!

    It would have made more sense to give the guy 5 years and then fine the company 5 million for being incompetent and pay any taxes or fees resulting the case. That would have been more fair than giving this guy 50 years.

    he should figure out how to stay in prison where at least he gets free housing, food, medical care, entertainment etc.

    I remember this casino very well. I knew there was something going on the first day I was there. I got on a $5 machine that was so loose it was incredible. I've never seen any machine hit like this one did. After two hours, I walked out with $14,000. I remember it was a Phantom of the Opera.

    You know what's funny? That guy is unlikely to pay back very much of that money to all those with their hands out. Is our judicial system crazy or something? Is it just this particular judge crazy? Is he stupid? This man comes out of prison broke as hell basically and he'll have revenge in his heart for such a severe penalty. These groups are very unlikely to see any of that dough back. I wouldn't give them shit for doing 30 plus years in prison. Maybe I should become a Judge? But first I'd need a Law degree, geez I wonder where the F the judge got his? Good Luck seeing ANY of that money back!

    I am sorry, but 50 years, even for embezzlement is too much time for a first time offender.
    I don't think anyone will disagree with me on that. He needs to appeal his sentence, big time. There are sentencing standards and I think the judge made an example of the rotten crook.
