Wow, this is some amazing step by step stuff. As someone who has recently transitioned from muay thai to BJJ, there are alot of things to take into account. This does an excellent job of answering all the 100s of questions that come to mind with every little intricate movement performed. Top notch job!
Hey Jordan! Newly minted blue belt here! I just so happen to train at the same gym that Joe trains out of in Michigan! Needless to say, I have been on the receiving end of Joe’s wrestling clinic many a time! It’s great to be able to learn from him and even cooler to see him appear on your channel. I was telling him the other day that seeing him pop up on your page is my version of “where’s Waldo?”
@@RadicalTrivia it's one reason I'd never train judo regularly. Just the nature of the sport is brutal. Good on them for being tough as they are though lol
Love the rewinds and slo-mo replays (realize how much editing time this adds to the process!). So helpful. Also love him calling this man all caps 'JACKED'...what does that make Jordan? JACCCKKKEEDDD ?!
Nothing can compete with actual in-person instruction and mat time, but your stuff comes pretty close. A million thanks from a (still rookie) blue belt. :)

I can't wait to see it too because I'm always working on my stand-up, it's so important. Nice entry into the legs too btw! You clearly read the comments haha Awesome video
due to money I haven't been training much, the little grappling I do, considering I don't have mats, is playing a game that I made up called back take in which you win by taking the back. It was actually pretty useful to improve real grappling skills when I was training regularly so I haven't stopped it.
This guy looks jacked. I'm interested in the wrestling course, but at 40 does it make sense for me? I'm 6ft tall and everything i put a knee on the mat for takedowns, its bad news. I get sprawled on or lose the takedown.
I think it would be. Just like bjj I think it's not wrestling itself that's dangerous, it's lack of wrestling. The more you learn the safer you'll be doing it. The whole thing is a very technical approach that doesn't require nearly as much athleticism as other approaches.
Yes!! I show several leg attacks without going to a knee, and underhook system, Russian, and snapdown. All are done from not going to a knee. It’s probably your back posture, which we cover. I am pushing 44, so if I can do it with this broken body then so can you! The systems I teach are not risky. I always wanted my wrestlers to go as far as they could in competition, and low risk-high reward is always the best option. In this instructional, we keep the threats of chokes in mind!
Haha I did too. I feel way more competent and knowledgeable on the feet. I thought I was a good wrestler before filming but realized how much I got away with relying on athleticism. My technical knowledge has skyrocketed in the wrestling department 🙌

30 YO here with way too many years of folk, Greco, catch, and BJJ. I outwrestle basically 99% of the people I meet, but why do that when butt scoot does the trick? I take the Craig Jones approach to wrestling, and my knees love me but everyone else hates me. I standup and wrestle for exactly two reasons. Either it’s a comp class and they’re forcing me to live drill TD’s, or I’m competing and about to “TylerSpangler” some whippersnappers from a snap down front head. God I can’t wait to start masters division. All the other old farts are in for a surprise visit to suplex city.

How did you balance learning and drilling take downs while working towards your Black belt? A year and a half at Blue belt and I just started to really focus on take downs and wrestling, a little lost in how to fit in all in other than setting aside 30-45 minutes of every open mat after class to takedowns (Judo/Wrestling/grip fighting). I also watched a lot of Judo/Wrestling/MMA videos in order to pick and choose which ones to focus on according to my body type/style.
I learned wrestling mostly through preparing for mma fights so I spent a tonne of time focusing on takedowns. I didn't start mma until I was a purple so was already competent on the the ground and could shit my focus to stand up 👊
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu That makes sense, as I am close to Purple belt and my attention and focus is shifting more into actual fighting than learning "Jiu Jitsu vs Jiu Jitsu" so to speak. I love and respect the art, but I find it worrisome that against MMA fighters and Wrestlers, I still have a really tough time against them. To be honest, I still have a really tough time with just really strong bigger White belts! I feel like I should round out my skills more to include take downs/wrestling/Judo and striking as well.
