Forgot to comment yesterday. Have installed a few of the infrared heaters in shops & garages over the years. Everyone loves them. I could see where a portable unit would be great. The best way to describe the way these work, is that they heat objects (floor, cars, tools, etc.), not the air. The air gets heated by the objects losing that heat. The guys with auto shops love them, because you can open the overhead doors in winter & as soon as they're closed, its warm again under the heaters & the cars are melting off... Kool review. Thanx !
this would be great in my unfinished shop in Alaska when I am working on/in it during the winter to take the bite off. I use a normal diesel torpedo heater when there now, but need to leave the big door open a bit to get enough fresh air to help keep the smell and headaches at bay.
Good morning, Stan! Man oh man could I use one of those in my garage. It always seems that's when I have to work on cars the most. When I can't feel my fingers! Thanks for sharing! Have a great week. God bless.
Bought one of these for my camp shop after seeing this video. I bought it when fleet farm had them for $400 off for Black Friday. I was reluctant to believe they’d be that great, but now a month later the thing is awesome. My brother was just here for Christmas and couldn’t t believe how much heat it threw off inside an old 40x50 barn.
What a great product. Stan: You should do a WhistlinDiesel style series where you just torture the living life out of equipment and make the manufacturers scream for mercy. I like this guy... He believes in his product.
I have 2 of the Val 6 heaters and they have worked great for 15 plus years. Bought this one 2 years ago and it has worked great too. It is a little bigger and will only fit through a 36” door 90 degrees to the wheels. Not very handy. Hope they fix that little issue. It is a very heavy duty heater. We have used them in enclosed spaces on our new home construction projects in order to build year round in Alaska. The best part is they heat surfaces and so if pointed at a concrete floor, floor heats up and continues to give heat back. Highly recommend this heater. Expensive but will last a long time and works better.
@bobcatbuilder2107 Great feedback and you are right. You have the SF150 which was our first major model and our largest and heaviest. It was designed primarily for rolling to different areas in a larger shop but not best for most portability needs. We are working on making a change on the size of that one soon, however. The heater in this video is the SF120 and is much smaller and more portable. This will fit through any door at only 28.5" wide and we just launched an even smaller heater, the SF80 at only 19.75" wide. BTW - these are sold in Alaska at Alaska Industrial Hardware locations.
I was at our local fair and guess which stand has the most attention during the rain days? Spoiler alert, it's the obvious answer.... the stand that sells these style heaters. Love the videos! Keep it up
Anickwallace9955 Awesome! These are manufactured in our plant in Janesville, WI. We have various dealers in the state that sell them and they are sold at all Fleet Farm locations.
I bought one based on this and other review videos. After 15-20 minutes of a SF80 running in a 1,500 sq.ft. garage my guys couldn't stand to work in there any longer because the fumes and smell were so bad from running on diesel. I'm hoping I can return it and I do NOT recommend.
Hey Stanley, or anyone that's reading this, do you know if there's a bung on the bottom of the tank to remove unused fuel, for storage or whatnot? 🤔 Or do you have to siphon it out?
Been using torpedo heater for over 30 years now, they are way more powerful typically than the infrared heaters and check the prices, you can get a new 35kw heater for $500 and a 35kw infrared heater cost over 3 times that
The manufacturer states it is safe for indoor commercial use with proper ventilation… though it may not produce much carbon monoxide, oxygen depletion is a thing. I would be mindful of this, especially in a smaller garage.
How safe is this with the gasoline vapors when they are warmed up. Is it certified to be used in a closed garage/shop area, that has explosive vapors. Can/will you post the certification that it is safe/ approved for this installation
Excellent question. Our heaters do not use gasoline but use either diesel or kerosene which are much less volatile than gasoline. These heaters are fully UL Certified under file MP5162. The UL certification is specifically for indoor use. These are not meant to warm inside a residential home, but they are perfect for inside a shop, pole barn, garage, warehouse etc. These have been fully UL tested and have met all safety standards for these types of indoor applications. Thanks for the excellent question because safety is extremely important to us.
@@Farmlife7461 Another had the same question. Answer: We have a couple more models available for this style of heater to give consumers more options, our heaters are fully Made in the USA out of Janesville, WI (Mr. Heater is made in China), and the performance and durability of our heaters. That drop test says it all about SunFire. We know how to build heaters that are rugged tough that have no smell, and no fumes. We have our own technical support staff right here in the USA, not in India or another country, but right here in the U.S. that will give free technical phone support for the life of the heater. We will do whatever we can to help keep you warm when you need it most.

That drop test says it all about SunFire. We know how to build heaters that are rugged tough and have no smell, and no fumes.
@@Sunfireheaterslooking at the parts breakdown for the SF150 it looks to have a REAL oil burner like a Beckett, Carlin, or Reillo. THAT is key. Proper shaft driven gear pump, clean cut solenoids etc etc. Those burners are what goes in residential and commercial furnaces and are robust and give years and years of service. Good product.
Worth it the first time you don't launch the freeze plugs out of a shop truck and the new guy doesn't notice before cooking the thing. Or worse, crack the block in a piece of equipment.
@@____________________________.x There can be an initial puff on start up because of residual fuel from the last burn but it's about 1 second or so and that's it.
We appreciate the concern because for most, it does seem unlikely. This heater does burn fuel so there will be emissions such as carbon dioxide (CO2). However, regarding carbon monoxide (CO), the testing is accurate. This has been UL tested and certified where this had to meet certain standards including carbon monoxide. We can achieve this by circulating the fuel inside the funnel shaped cone very precisely, that allows us to fully burn every droplet pure and clean. When that occurs, near zero or zero CO is achievable. This is of course with a burner that is properly tuned and kept up in maintenance. If dirty fuel is used or a nozzle gets clogged, that will affect the burn and proper spray of the fuel that can affect emissions. The OSHA standard is 50 parter per million for indoor use so even a little CO would still fall within their guidelines for indoor use.
@@Sunfireheatersdont forget to mention the refractory and how it quickly heats up and reflects heat back into the flame, further atomizing the fuel for a complete and clean burn.

your outta your mind at 2500 bucks man. outta your mind. i can get a propane heater for my garage from harbor freight for a hundred bucks. 2500 bucks your crazy. i can get a natural gas heater installed for the money.
We understand your point very much, this is meant more for commercial portable use than the average residential home garage at this price point. We do have a smaller unit at a lower price point but still not in the harbor freight price range.
It appears you are biased towards this product, where is the unbiased side by each testing that's normally done?? Does this product provide more heat than a standard competitor?? Does this product work with out electricity in the field?? Does this product burn more fuel??? Ect......
He doesn’t do side by side testing. That looked hot enough for me? No, it uses a cord. How is it ever going to burn more fuel but produce less heat than some other device? Fuel in = energy out
You truly put equipment through the test ! Love it ! If it passes your tests, I know it’s a great product. Thanks ! Love watching.
