This was an excellent. The 2 dogs illustration was perfect. I've always tried to explain this by holding out your hand, in the thumbs up position, at arms length, close one eye, then cover a non-moving object (a light fixture, a flag, a person, etc.) in the distance with that thumb and hold it there so you can no longer see that object. Next I tell them, without moving your hand, to switch eyes. What was covered and unseen is now clearly seen and it seems that the thumb moved and may have even covered something else. Then I tell them, without moving their hand, to open both eyes. Not only can you see each object that was covered by the thumb but you can see them at the same time, plus, your thumb seems to get fuzzy and it looks like it isn't even there. But when you change your focus (with both eyes open) and just focus on the thumb all you see is your thumb and, depending on how hard you focus on your thumb, you may see two thumbs.
This can help illustrate many things about problems (your thumb), goals (objects behind thumb), seeing things from different perspectives (switching eyes), how you can see your goal and other things if you don't focus on your problems (both eyes open not focusing on the thumb) and finally, how focusing on your problems can throw everything out of focus or even mulitplying the problems.
Anyway, thank you for sharing! I like your card demonstration. I'm gonna have to find cards like that so I can use them like you did, too.
I just realized that you posted this almost 3 years ago! Wow.

Imho, Position is often attachment pattern related (upbringing-> adopted convictions/believes etc).
If every individual would learn to realize this and question everything from upbringing, incl the environment they live and grew up in they 100% will change!
This realization is very powerful and could even end wars!

You know as simple as it may seem at first look THIS Really BLESSED Me just now. As i struggle with offense, depression n growing in Faith God has been showing me how the enemy is using my perspective, perception n position to distract n derail me, slow leaking me in efforts to inevitably destroying me, but this however simple yet im sure easier said than done lol nevertheless POWERFUL just switched my mind onto A Whole other wave length of consciousness n intentionality that i will be utilizing prayerfully on my spiritual walk. A MAJOR Key that Will help me endure till the end! THANK YOU SO MUCH. Im Really Truly Grateful. GOD BLESS YOU GENIE!!!!❤

Thank you. I looked this up, because I had used the word "perspective" in a comment on You Tube. Then I saw a reply with the use of the word "perceptive." That got me wondering about the use of one word vs. the other word, and wondering whether I had used the correct word. Your video answered my question, (and I had used the correct word). Thank you.

Am I understanding the concept correctly with this example:
Perception: i dont go in the ocean so i can avoid danger ie. getting bit by a shark
Perspective: i have to be cautious to preserve my life
Position: driving is more dangerous than going in the ocean.

Sorry, but now I'm still confused. Look, when you define the word perception you say, and I quote: "perception is a way you regard ... something." And then, you give a definition to perspective: " a way of regarding something." So, what's the difference? Could you please give more examples?

Ever since I discovered photography, I've been interested in both and seek out what i call "perceptive perspective"
Been thinking of starting a TH-cam channel of the same name.
The idea is that as we shift our perspective, we can also change our perception of life.
In other words, how we perceive the world depends entirely on our own perspective, which we can always change.
    What do you think?

They are both based on many variables. For each of us together as a group of people some of our perceptions and perspectives are based on the social normalcy of that culture and society. Some of the variables is beliefs and upbringing. Some is life experiences.
You can take 2 people. First 1 a combat vet, the 2nd person normal civilian life never heard a gun go off.
Say a bank robbery and the robbers was shootung up in the air.
Now the vet would be more likely to experience it in a way because of their experiences. The vet could probably tell exactly how many shots, if the ribbers had some military training and assess the situation. Where the civilian would see and experience it differently. They would say rapid gun fire, guess at how many shots fired, most likely avoiding any eye contact for fear.
Another thought, is psychology is different from country to country and cultures.
Some find certain things acceptable and even expected while another country might view it unacceptable even against the law.
Sometimes it is these different views and perspectives and perceptions that causes conflict everywhere in the world.
