- Jerry Whip from Lawton, Iowa shares the story of his IH 1026 Golden Demonstrator Tractor he bought from an IH dealer in 1970. Jerry used the tractor on his farm for over 30 years before restoring it to its original colors. Visit classictractorstv.com/about/ for more Classic Tractor Fever! Old International Harvester tractors are some of my favourite classic machines. They absolutely nailed it with the gold demonstrator models back in the day. Even the all white farmall demonstrators were fantastic looking
Awesome tractor.
Still use a 1026 every day in the summer green chopping & on the wagon feeding the silage bagger, there were a great tractor
Grew up on Allis-Chalmers, then became an AC dealer, but in the 1960's and 1970's, IH was our biggest competition. Nice video.
Beautiful tractor. I'm a ford man but I love me an IH too! Can't beat them
Jerry is a legend. Cheers Jerry🇺🇸
100% my new favourite tractor.
Awsome tractor..
Love it
Nice tractor
Like the man said the Hydros weren't much for heavy field work. More suited for PTO and loader work where the Hydro wasn't lugged. Had several in my area for a very short while. Then they were loaded by the semi load and shipped out of state to auctions.
I worked for a guy in high school that had a hydro similar to this, had a loader, was good for augers, spraying and loader work but we tried a disk on it and didn't have much success, comfortable and quiet though
there's one here at the museum but it has a CAB
Please drive this classic tractor at the next parade in Pomeroy, IA Mr. Lenz might be glad that you did.
very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds just like my DT 466 when it starts
It’s a dt436
@@hunternelson3018 No it came with a DT407
When my grandpa bought his 1026 Hydro there were only two in the state of Michigan! My Grandpa also bought a demonstrator model with the Gold and Red Paint. The 1026 Hydro was without question the best tractor he ever owned. My dad took it to tractor pulls and it outperformed many tractors that were rated more horsepower and torque. Yes, we turned the pump up and we estimate the tractor was putting out around 300 horsepower which was a lot of power back in those days! I prefer a Hydro over geared tractor any day. I think the International 1026 Hydro was one of the best tractors to ever be produced by International. Those were the days! I really miss that tractor.
Bob Hirdes I’m guessing the hydraulic pump didn’t last very long on it
But did the transmission last ?
I have this tractor on dec of my 2019 calender
Did the Hydro transmission last all 9000 hours ?
It's Jerry Witt, not whip.
