  • Part 2 of the Dampier Peninsula explores the nothern end and includes the aboriginal communities of Lombadina and One Arm Point plus the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. The many islands off the coast, forming the Buccaneer Archipelago, are spectacular and so are the fast flowing currents. They need to be seen to be believed.
Afterwards, I tackled the dirt road to Middle Lagoon and it wasn't a bad as expected. Some soft sand in places but generally pretty good with lower tyres pressures. I'm glad I decided to come here as it's was one of my favourite areas so far. Lots of humpback whales and a huge reef to explore during low tide. Sunsets were once again spectacular which is a common theme for the west coast.
The campsite at Pender Bay was one of the most scenic places I've stayed at and discovered it was formerly a whale research station. Most campsites were pearched on the edge of the red cliff tops with views of the ocean and many passing whales, sharks and dolphins. A short walk around the headland and the scenery got even better. Large sandstone towers lined the cliff face and hid a magical rock pool and caves.
In close vacinity was Smithy's, which also had stunning red cliffs along it's coast but had more of a fishing vibe. Still a great spot for walks along the beach and a quick dip in the ocean.
Once again, I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!
