There is a minimum number for these new MTOs. They just arent telling you what that magic number is. If it doesnt hit that number it wont go into production. @@jwolf8371 I missed that during the dragon man roll out, I thought I heard it was pending final approval of design. I’m sure they pre-sold to BBTS to meet minimum numbers
@VernRants For sure! I figure this way, they can let the number be a bit pliable. Like they probably could get us the item.for less than say 12000, but they have to set a number and stick to it. Haslab = huge marketing budget... When it doesn't found, that budget is gone 💸 So yes, they could make more open pre-order items in the future. However, this $170 Sentinel is not comparable to the $300+ Sentinel or the Giant-Man, in terms of details, textures, etc.
@@ceddebruxelles What are you talking about? it’s definitely on par with the haslab giant man. they pretty much made it clear it has the same articulation in the fingers and hands as that. Never liked the HasLab model. I think this direct order works so much better but only if through retail. If it’s a new stunt to prop up and support Pulse for the long run it will be disappointing.
Hasbro owns the GIJoe and Transformers properties. Keeping mind marvel and Star Wars have licensing fees on top, and Star Wars has long been known as the most expensive licensing fees, they even break down pricing by popularity of the films and characters.
Haslab Unicron retooled into the armada Unicron Haslab victory saber tooled into the idw victory saber or deathsaurus retooled to his idw look or Haslab omega prime repainted to the yellow splendid convoy
It’s a stretch to say they would make the product if the numbers are low. Hasbro like other vendors can cancel a product. The rumors are Rancor is being in thought of in this light. It was before it became a Haslab. Haslabs may change as Hasbro doesn’t have as many resources to make these in addition to their regular runs. I think less Haslab offerings shows more about what Hasbro has to make these is less. Plus the suits may have decided the expense isn’t worth the reward.
I think if they make offerings like this and don’t set a minimum number they loose credibility if they cancel it.. Super7 probably had a deal with Amazon before offering their run, so I guess that a retail type deal was pre-struck in this offering.
@@VernRants - But you answered it in your video. They are not going to choose a project like this that they have to cancel. Ultimately credibility be damned they are out to make money. But this project is not going to put them in this position of damaging credibility. Sentinels are more popular than a Dragon Man. Dragon Man sold well. This will too and probably better or they wouldn’t have made the offer.
@@prophet924 I realize that selecting the right product is part of the success, but I think it’s a slippery slope. Because a big figure will Never amount to a haslab for me…
I can def see them now re releasing the EoV! They can do it for $200 flat easily It doesn’t need lights, it doesn’t need all the swappable parts. I don’t need a ‘street mode’ I want the hell charger It can come with the fire wheels and engine stock on and no swapping With no lights too No extra figures even They can easily sell this for $200 then
They've never needed to crowdfund any of this. I get the idea of pre-orders, but they're the biggest toy company in the world. They can put out whatever they want. They just choose not to do so.
That's why they need to stop the haslab and just do what they are doing here with the Sentinel! I can't lay out 200 or 300 in one go for something that may or may not ship in a year but with the Sentinel i can pre-order and save the money which is why i put 3 on order! I'd not be able to do haslab these days especially with this inflation killing me .
I'm assuming that this new Sentinel is the same size as the Haslab Sentinel? If they start re-releasing Haslab items (like a Jabba's Sail Barge as part of the Return to Tatooine promotion) this will ultimately hurt Hasbro in the long run. You'll see more Haslabs no make their goals because people will just hold out because a less expensive version will show up later. When these Haslabs don't fund, then the tooling won't be made to produce the less expensive version down the road. Ultimately this will be bad for collectors. Also, 3.75 inch scale is still the best. 😁
@@VernRants Thanks for enlightening me. Although it appears Hasbro is trying to have their cake and eat it too with this Sentinel and the Haslab version...that may not be the case. Although perception often becomes reality.
We've always knew that hasbro can do this. They just wanted to secure your money. And when you get Fanboys that continually back up the Hasbro motto, and offer the company excuses. Why would Hasbro change. They realized they lost a lot of money on the failed haslab projects. Haslab is the definition of pre-order/ made to order. I just think it's a shame that most people don't realize what could be until it's done. It's like when they don't create safety rules until somebody hurt themselves. As if you couldn't see it coming.
Respectfully, ah, no. The new sentinel is not very close to the detail or value of the older haslab. Sure it may have a side effect of more “clearance chicken” with big purchases. But a cantina, sail barge, or 6 inch ecto 1 will still be dream projects and in my opinion, still make for good haslab projects. Not sure how much longer Hasbro wants the Disney licenses and wants to start major campaigns.
@@machineman6498 that Gb ecto is pretty cool, I really think that with the lights items and extras it’s a good project, but if I’m being honest they could easily have done a timed sale.. the cantina also. I think the dream project has lost its way a bit (Giant man) is the biggest example. Nothing will top that sail barge I think.
The reason why this is considered a better value and deal is because it’s aimed at new collectors or people who have a fondness for these sentinels from the animated series/comics from the 90’s. it was never gonna be nor intended to be for anyone who already owns the haslab. haslab sentinel is amazing but not everyone is gonna wanna on the aftermarket to pay the outrageous prices for one of those. this is a good business strategy because it gives people who initially that opportunity to get one for half the price. haslab sentinel in todays market, I would argue has a split on the value. it depends if you can get the one that has everything. But if you’re forced to get one that is the sentinel itself then I don’t think the price for is justified.
I mean yeah... did anyone actually think hasbro couldn't just move it into production? Obviously... haslab just let them get all the money and orders 1st... so they liked it. I wouldn't say all haslabs are off the table as far as things made... they didn't retool this sentinel... its completely different. It's not a comic sentinel ether it's a 90s show one. They never said they won't ever do a character again. They said they wouldn't re release the haslab.
@@VernRants The purpose of Haslabs is so Hasbro can avoid retailers and distributors and keep all the money for themselves, for the consumer does it matter that much if you pay before or after it goes into production?
@@joaoneves6053 I think it matters. If I back the haslab and buy a sentinel that’s $$575 right away out of pocket, but if I get to pay later I can start putting money aside (if I wasn’t a saver) and make interest on it too)
It's all been slight of hand my dude. Now they're hoping that no one notices they're charging much less and doing made to order versus charging double or more than double and making buyers fund well into the millions of dollars. It's all a scam basically.
And then people that purchased multiple Had labs for resale potential are going to be stuck with the extras and will have to sell at a loss. And it seems like they really can just do it, someone here said that data from HasLabs could have made this model possible( to prevent $$lost on poor ordering)
There is a minimum number for these new MTOs. They just arent telling you what that magic number is. If it doesnt hit that number it wont go into production. This was stated during the Dragon Man roll out.I think they are trying to avoid all the whining and hate videos showing the number of orders and saying its a failure that now affects the backers' confidence and then the overall number.
I would hope it killed them to be 150 or so shy of the Skrullhead. They probably coulda still gotten us that, but couldn't set that precedent. I'm worried now that these expensive item are gonna be monthly! DM in Sept 2025 and now a Sentinal in Oct? Crazy!
@VernRants And I just re read my first post, hope it didn't come off too dicky. I just wanted the info out there. I was trying to be helpful not snarky,, 😆

I hope you’re right. I want the Sail Barge.

Haslab = huge marketing budget... When it doesn't found, that budget is gone 💸 So yes, they could make more open pre-order items in the future. However, this $170 Sentinel is not comparable to the $300+ Sentinel or the Giant-Man, in terms of details, textures, etc.
I do think this is close to
Giant man and hope the articulation is on par with that.
@@ceddebruxelles
What are you talking about? it’s definitely on par with the haslab giant man. they pretty much made it clear it has the same articulation in the fingers and hands as that. I would say they are about equal, just because one is based off an animated interpretation doesn’t mean to go a be dismissive of its value. and that’s exactly what people are missing here, it’s a animated adaptation of the sentinel from the show. of course the details are gonna be different, because one is based off the comics and one is based a version from the cartoons.
Never liked the HasLab model. I think this direct order works so much better but only if through retail. If it’s a new stunt to prop up and support Pulse for the long run it will be disappointing.
Yes I like this much better as they don’t take you money a year out either
Hasbro owns the GIJoe and Transformers properties. Keeping mind marvel and Star Wars have licensing fees on top, and Star Wars has long been known as the most expensive licensing fees, they even break down pricing by popularity of the films and characters.
So as a marvel item, what do you think the living fee is for reaching? $25
Haslab Unicron retooled into the armada Unicron Haslab victory saber tooled into the idw victory saber or deathsaurus retooled to his idw look or Haslab omega prime repainted to the yellow splendid convoy
Thanks for the info!
Yeah probably right

Never amount to a haslab for me…
I can def see them now re releasing the EoV!
They can do it for $200 flat easily
It doesn’t need lights, it doesn’t need all the swappable parts. I don’t need a ‘street mode’
I want the hell charger
It can come with the fire wheels and engine stock on and no swapping
With no lights too
No extra figures even
They can easily sell this for $200 then
That would be cool! I’d be in for one
@@VernRants I was gonna just buy the ramen racer, but it was as expensive as the Haslab after all the taxes and shipping
I’ll hold out for this
Meh, good thing I only stick with the Transformers and GI Joe HasLabs. Still, I can understand the frustration.

They've never needed to crowdfund any of this. I get the idea of pre-orders, but they're the biggest toy company in the world. They can put out whatever they want. They just choose not to do so.
@@alanrussette2819 true
Hasbro hasn't been the biggest toy company in the world since at least 2010. Lego is the largest by far with Bandai Namco in 2nd place.
@@trialsandtribulations7181 Doesn't change the fact that they've never needed to crowdfund any of these projects.
Yes, pay when it ships!
@@MattsCollection this sentinel is a few inches shorter…
We will have to see how this plays out! 👊
@@VernRants Thanks for enlightening me. Although it appears Hasbro is trying to have their cake and eat it too with this Sentinel and the Haslab version...that may not be the case.
Although perception often becomes reality.
still a bit rich for my wallet but the new Sentinel does look good ...
I wish it was 125
You realize Titan class Transformers that retail for 200+ now and have been a thing for years. Tf Haslabs are still a thing. How are Haslabs broken?
Once it hits every line, there will be fewer haslabs
We've always knew that hasbro can do this. They just wanted to secure your money. And when you get Fanboys that continually back up the Hasbro motto, and offer the company excuses. Why would Hasbro change. They realized they lost a lot of money on the failed haslab projects. Haslab is the definition of pre-order/ made to order. I just think it's a shame that most people don't realize what could be until it's done. It's like when they don't create safety rules until somebody hurt themselves. As if you couldn't see it coming.
👍🏼
In my opinion, time release should become "Oversized" figures. Haslabs will become playsets and larger vehicles (that include figures).
@@tombryski1087 that could work
Respectfully, ah, no.

Good point, I think the idea I’m making is about the selling model
You're mixing "Same Figure" with "Same Character".
I realize this sentinel is different, it’s a jig action figure that doesn’t need to be a haslab
@@VernRants The purpose of Haslabs is so Hasbro can avoid retailers and distributors and keep all the money for themselves, for the consumer does it matter that much if you pay before or after it goes into production?
@@joaoneves6053 I think it matters. If I back the haslab and buy a sentinel that’s $$575 right away out of pocket, but if I get to pay later I can start putting money aside (if I wasn’t a saver) and make interest on it too)
Hasbro's looks too pretty.

It's all been slight of hand my dude. Now they're hoping that no one notices they're charging much less and doing made to order versus charging double or more than double and making buyers fund well into the millions of dollars. It's all a scam basically.
