West Brom have always been a top side, blighted by poor decision making, bad ownership and management good players and some brilliant managers. Life time baggie born in Smethwick now living in new Zealand. Cheers Kiwi baggie
nobody would believe in the last years of the 20th century that west bromwich albion would be the last remaining west midlands football club in the premier league..few men even considered the prospect of that remote forbidding corner of the blackcountry producing a team able to play in England's top division again.. yet from the wide gulf of the A41 with minds immeasurably superior to our counter parts who seem to have money that multiplied in a single drop of water.. slowly drew our plans aginst them. boing boing amen
11 points clear Wolves were of West Brom with 7 games left. Some of the games Wolves lost near the end was down to pure pressure. One of them was at home to Grimsby, Millwall away cost them too. Fair play to West Brom for catching them. Getting that last minute penalty at Bradford was huge for Albion. I remember that season well, both sides deserved to go up along with Man City. To make it worse for Wolves, Birmingham went up through the playoffs. To be honest Wolves were never going to win the playoffs after that collapse at the end of the season. It's a different Wolves now that West Brom will face next season in the Premier League when they come up.
The greatest day of my life. What made it even better was super bob and big dave was on the score sheet. Not to sound like an ungratful swine, but its not been the same supporting them since this day. The fight and wait to get in the promised land after so many years was emotional
no one ever thought the club would be in the big time ever again. we were heading back to the third division until megson took over, two years later and we were in the premier league. Unbelievable.
One of the happiest days of my life. THAT goal by Super Bob, it was meant for him. And beat the Dingles to the Premier League, it had to be them didn't it? It certainly was a perfect day. I never imagined in my wildest dreams that we'd end up in the top half of the Premier League 11 years after that amazing day. Very proud.
