Only 9 mins in but this is really good analysis! Has me thinking about lots of stuff I've never thought in the series and cleared a lot up already. Good content keep up the good work
@@saintmotel7813 I truly appreciate the kind words!! I've been a huge SU fan since the show began, stuck around through the amazing community moments and I got to see the awful way that cartoon network treated the show so I guess you could say there's a lot that I wanted to share my thoughts on. 😁✨✨
It’s been an entire lifetime for Rose/Pink between leaving Spinel (which admittedly the way she left her can definitely be criticized) and having Steven. In my mind, I would think that Spinel would be the last thing on her mind and probably something she came to some kind of closure on in her time on Earth before Greg
She left Spinel cause Spinel was a reminder of how the other diamonds seen her, amusement she didn't think her command hold so much sway that Spinel resolve would keep her planted there. I mean she then already felt like a joke so why would spinel who was made to be a laugh follow her that's seen as a laugh
I always thought that like the diamonds don't see other gems as beings worth respecting. Pink was the first to realize that WHEN she went to earth. I always thought that Pink got spinel after she was denied a planet the first time. Spinel is basically an old timey toy the other diamonds gave her to play with. Showing that they see her as a kid. But Pink wants to be a grown up/ treated like the other diamonds. And Pink ditched Spinel like that because she was about to start her earth colony and didn't want to be seen with a "toy" and then just forgot about her. Basically treating her like that Furby that just WILL NOT shut off. So you lock it away in storage/ the closet until the batteries die and you forget about it. Really f*cked up. But Pink/ Rose has a habit of personal growth in learning to empathize... but she never apologies for her past actions. Pink Pearl deserves an apology too for cracking her!!
I always thought that the fact she ditched Spinel and drifted away was forgetable, since all the gems were seen as objects before and "thought" to be programmed to listen to them, like humans use gadgets, for example. If the other 3 Diamonds made Spinel, just to be a "playmate" or a puppet, so it was understandable to treat her like one, and left her in the closet. When she turned into Rose Quartz, she learnt in a way how to empathise with other gems, and the fact that she didn't come back to her could be explain by 2 theories: 1. She wanted to let all her past behind, along with Spinel. I know that Rose realised that she was in the wrong for not doing anything for her, but she assumed this stunt as one of Pink's deed, or a deed of her past self that she (thought) couldn't fix it anymore, and she was thinking that she couldn't help Spinel adapt as being a Crystal Gem, since Spinel has the mentality of a child or young adolescent, so on this hand, I don't blame Pink for letting her in a garden as she was. 2. She couldn't come to Spinel because all of the infrastructure and teleport routes were destroyed, so Rose couldn't go to the Garden in the other part of Space, cause she needed to go via another teleportation platforms or she needed a ship, ship that Pink didn't have anymore. In my opinion, what Pink did is (kind of) excusable, since she didn't want a child doll to get in her way and I am very sure that the other Diamonds wouldn't love to have her, after she was rejuvenated, since they were mature with other responsabilities.
@@ciutacalexandru4608 so true. Just as you said, She couldn't leave earth and infiltrate home world (and where ever that garden place was) to go apologize to Spinel or Pink Pearl. Also Spinel said they were besties but would Pink have said that? She grimaced when she was first presented Spinel, right? I got the impression she was kinda putting up with her and trying to have "fun" more so to please the other diamonds than anything else. Anyway you look at it, I really don't think Pink ever saw Spinel as a person let alone her BEST friend during their time together.
@@lewilbur spinal was how the diamonds seen her So they thought oh let's give her a little pink of her own It's like a reminder you a joke when they give u a clown entertainment gem as a pet
I like this analysis but I don’t think rose would use humans in the war and she didn’t even want the human Zoo that was Blue trying to appease her and it seems out of character since she was so dedicated to protecting Earth and its life including humans
Logically humans only unite under a single banner towards a common enemy. This is greatly hinted by the Pearl grimacing at Steven for being “ignorant” of “The Armor of the Fallen”. Which btw, it would make sense for Gems to make armor, but Humans fit that so much more. It would also be in humanity’s best interest, even if they’re generationally/ evolutionarily early, to defeat a common enemy with similar allies. For all they know, it’s like fighting harder Neanderthals that joined ranks. Tbh, I can definitely see humans fighting in the gem war, just probably the ones curious or if we are speaking Bronze Age, probably the ones willing to fight.
well I get the feeling that's half true, at the end yes Rose loved and cared so much for the life of earth, but at the start? I imagine she did some horrible things. that kinda seems like a major part of her story, the guilt from realizing the horrors of what you've done, one big 'I'm sorry, I'm so sorry' type story. tho yeah I don't think she ever used humans, more of there was just lots of casualties, I mean a gem war would be like a natural disaster of biblical proportion to humanity, so casualties are a given, casualties the crystal gems felt so guilty about.
@@helio-r4uyesss I’m so glad I’m not the only one who felt this and spoke this because I too always pictured they had humans fighting by them or hinted that beach citizens will join the next big fight like with Sadie fighting invisible gem monster for example and armor of the fallen definitely gave me those vibes
Ok good, I was confused for a second, because I swear it was Blue Diamond who made the zoo to tribute her sister after seemingly dying, not Pink who made the zoo.
srsly im so baffled at all these other comments praising this video when it unabashedly presents outdated, easily disproven, bad-faith fan theories as fact and evidence of rose being evil. in 2024. bruh. 😀
I was going to comment this exact thing. Also the whole "gem harvesting" thing was not something she was a *fan* of. All those gems that were bubbled were the gems that had been corrupted by the Diamond attack, which the remaining Crystal Gems worked to poof and bubble to keep them safe in the event that they could eventually find a cure.
TLDR: Blue Diamond created an empty zoo for Pink Diamond. Pink Diamond's obsession with humans caused her to fill the Zoo with them. "Pink Diamond's insidious human zoo! During her reign on Earth, Pink Diamond stole humans from their families, as trophies of her conquests." - Garnet (Episode - Adventures In Light Distortion.) This fact has *never* been disputed on the show. Blue Diamond created The Human Zoo after Pink Diamond expressed her intention of preserving human life on earth. Remember that Blue Diamond herself literally couldn't care less about human lives before she learnt the truth about Steven (Why would she, she was literally encouraging Pink to finish what she started by conquering The Earth.) Think about how roughly she grabbed Greg in the episode Steven's Dream and to add insult to injury she only brought him to The Zoo because he managed to make her feel a little better about the fact that the Cluster would be emerging soon to destroy the planet. 😬👍
@adripurdy1998 I can still read your original reply, I wouldn't delete comments! All engagement is good for the algorithm, plus discussion is double good! I'll see if any other replies got flagged as held for review or something though. 😁👌
Getting to see Rose's development and redemption in reverse - meaning we learnt everything backwards - was really something. I wonder if we'd be more forgiving if we saw her worst deeds first.
I feel as though all sapphires when they are made their future vision is just one straight line when garnet was telling the story of how they met she said that sapphire knew everything in her life that was going to happen because they all start off with one path but after the fusion it was so unpredictable that it altered the way her powers worked the stream that was once straight became a river with multiple paths her future vision isn’t wrong it’s just that everything Steven does is something that is so improbable that she cannot see it happening
I feel like Connie eventually getting frustrated with Steven is understandable after five seasons tbh. Even patient people break. If someone kept leaving me behind to go put themselves in danger withoit warning, it would stress me out too. Edit: typos
Im too lazy to watch the video but im gonna respond to the beginning of the vid about pink D being defective, i think pink diamond is SUPPOSED to be “flawed” as in her purpose if we take a look at change your mind we know white diamond can reflect any color as in she can be anything and always viewed herself as flawless and each diamond is colored to represent their purpose or identity there is something about color theory that explains this in much more detail how each color can reflect certain colors and thats why blue has a soft spot for pink and yellow has a soft spot for blue etc. but my point is that pink is the color of “flaw” or “imperfection” since in change your mind when white realized she’s not really perfect or flawless she begun blushing which is weird since gems don’t really posses the ability to blush since they don’t blood and all of that that makes ppl blush the point is she started reflecting the color pink when she realized that she’s imperfect even her ship started blushing. Therefore pink is the color of imperfection and pink diamond came out that way because that’s how she was supposed to be therefore she’s not “defective”
@@iiqooza3385 This is an incredible take, I've never heard of the theory of Pink itself being the color of imperfection in gem society being a thing but I like it! A slight correction, all gems are capable of blushing. The video "Gay moments in Steven Universe" (I'm not even kidding, this exists haha.) is a compilation of various gems blushing in shipping moments on the show. The fact that White Diamond's blush is the color Pink is still a *big* deal though that I never thought about, still dig your mindset! 😁
This goes into Theory that the Super/Mommy Gems are actually alien super-computers EXTREAMLEY alien and likely extinct morals. All Steven and humanity had to do was hack them to SERVE humanity instead of letting them loose. Which is extremely dangerous as we wrote TONS of war-robot stories! Borrowing this theory from, sorry to butcher, Trayor the T-Rex channel.
2:52 pink diamond didn’t make the zoo. Blue did because pink wanted to save humans, as a point in her case to not colonize earth. The other diamonds misinterpreted her and created the zoo.
@@KellanRoss Yeah my bad for not being clearer early on but at 3:22 I left a note explaining this in captions on the screen and at 6:22 I explained it out loud. Blue may have made the Zoo but it was because Pink had a huge obsession with humans. 😁❤️
Pink being an under baked gem is an interesting idea, I really like and I believe some parts. However, in the end of an era art book, there's a timeline showing the diamonds origin around 20,000 years ago. There's also a picture showing all four poofed in between a split planet (possibly homewolrd?). I don't own the book, but I've seen people talk about it online.
@@axolotl-cg7it That is genuinely fascinating, I've sadly never owned the book myself either but have watched videos from The Roundtable and other SU TH-camrs discussing a couple of its contents! 😱👍
@@TheCrowReviewer I plan on getting it soon because I have my own theory/fanfic idea about how the diamonds were made and it's kind of based off some things I heard in the book. Manly the things I mentioned in my comment
@@TheCrowReviewer •A overcooked gem is one that takes in too much resources to create their gem, causing them to have more weight to them like amethyst. •A perfectly formed gem takes in the correct amount of resources causing them to Come out fit like jasper. •Most of the gems in the series are undercooked since they needed to come out early as not to waste resources, they come out skinny. However Diamonds cannot be undercooked,or overcooked when compared to gems,It's impossible, they can change their forms perfectly and permanently. When compared to the other diamonds yes she has less resources, but considering her form she isn't undercooked. On another note pink diamond is a off color. It's pointed out by multiple gems including eyeball the Stevens gem isn't "pink" it's pinkish red. She's a off color, not a undercooked gem.
@@almessasorrow4950Thanks for taking time to leave a thoughtful comment! ("Overcooking" means when a Gem spends too much time in the ground when being created.) - Steven Universe Wiki, information written based on what the characters have said on the show. Resources don't have anything to do with the terms "Overcooking" and "Undercooking", it was a big plot point that Amethyst stayed underground for *five hundred* extra years before Rose Quartz found her and recruited her into the team. Eyeball was the *only* gem that made a comment about the color of Steven's gemstone in the entire series and it's unfortunately left up to interpretation on what she meant but personally I viewed it as more foreshadowing for the soon after revelation that Rose Quartz was Pink Diamond. Bringing attention to the fact that even down to color, Pink Diamond's gem is different from a real Rose Quartz. Also if any other gem has made a comment on the color of Steven's gemstone maybe outside of the show or something like the comic books let me know, I haven't gotten the chance to own all of the books yet. Holly Blue Agate during the Zoo arc called The Famethyst "Off Colors" as well, it seems to be a term that refers to any gem that isn't up to standard whether it be mentally or physically including our own overcooked Amethyst. The crystal gems are all off colors you're right and they're all defective as well because they chose to abandon their original purpose. The words are completely interchangeable. (The bulk of what I'm saying can be confirmed through a Google search, I wanted to leave timestamps to individual episodes but that'd take a *lot* more time, haha.) Pink Diamond was defective and off colored because she chose to turn on her own kind, this is true. It's definitely still possible for Pink Diamond to have been undercooked (or even overcooked) as well because the terms have nothing to do with her decision to abandon homeworld. Much love to you, genuinely curious to read your reply if you leave one, it's possible that I'm wrong in certain areas and would love to have a change of perspective! 🤩❤️
@@TheCrowReviewer •Both jasper and peridot immediately knew just by looking at amethysts that she came out late. They constantly pointed it out.(Overcooked=Small) •Some of the Amethests aren't off colors at the zoo, you can see what Amethests are meant to look like at home world.(All Zoo Amethests are defective, but not all of them are off color)(Amethyst isn't off color) •Peridot points out all the gems in the beta kindergarten came out wrong except for jasper, going off of nothing but the body types she decided if they had too much or too little nutrients.(How much nutrients decides how the gem looks) •Jasper was pointed out to be"Perfect"(This means jasper didn't get too much or too little nutrients) •Chubby Gem is Overcooked therefore defective •Big Bulky gem is Perfect •Small gems are considered defective but not undercooked as shown by peridot The words are just meant to be a play on beauty standards of homeworld. Like when peridot was inspecting where Amethest emerged and was saying "too skinny" "too wide" "too asymmetrical" Jasper practically called Amethest a fat midget(Overcooked/Too wide) (Defective/Wrong height) (Coming out the wrong height was pointed out by peridot to be because the holes were placed too close to each other. This had nothing to do with how long they cooked.
my opinion on why connie and lion acted like that is like cause this time steven went alone, no crytal gem to assure his safety and no spaceship to bring home so her worry was over the top and the feeling of betrayal too cause theyre a team, personally i wouldve felt the same if my bsf just went into space alone, this is just my thoughts
I mean, steven sacrifice himself to save all the gems and human from the gem that overpowered all of them and also that steven could have died in homeworld. Not sure coming home and seeing my bff acting like I betrayed her would be a pleasant experience back home
@@TestmentAccount69 because in a sense it was a betrayal. Connie has the right to be hurt by what he did, by his own admission he gave himself up to the people who wanted to kill him and would realistically never see them again, then came back and acted like it was nothing serious. In Dewey Wins, steven helps mayor dewey stay mayor only for him to give up and tell steven nana would make a better mayor. Steven agrees but says he still feels a little betrayed and immediately realizes that is how connie feels. Its like a toned down 1:1 of steven giving himself up, in both situations the focus gives up on fighting for the greater good of those around them, steven to save the town people, mayor dewey to let someone better than him run the town. The end of both has someone who helped or wanted to help being hurt by it. Connie isnt in the wrong for being upset, and as the show established she didnt ignore him while she was upset either, she didnt want to talk over the phone about it and attempted to talk to him in person multiple times Stevens actions are understandable but went against the whole lessons of full disclosure and sworn to the sword Too many people think if a choice is morally or logically correct, you cant be hurt by it or have no right to be. A parent giving their life to save a child makes moral sense, that doesnt mean their family cant be or feel hurt by it
@@ShurouInu that really is a great parallel. Steven did exactly what rose did by making a choice that affected everyone and potentially took himself out of the game. After all the time him and connie spent preparing for a fight like this so they could fight together instead of alone, for steven to just take that option and choice out of everyone elses hands and put it all on himself, it was the kind of selfless selfishness gray area rose was known for. Connie at that point wasnt just the friend there to support and listen to stevens problems, its an insult to reduce her to that role. She was a crystal gem too. She had every right to feel betrayed because steven did betray the team, even if it was to protect them all. It feels similar to the fallout after a single pale rose, that feeling of betrayal and confusion. When someone you love and faught for lies or does something behind your back and takes control of a choice that should have been in part yours to make together.
something unusual about Garnet and her future vision is that its the only power she actually retains, completely losing both her fire *and* ice powers so maybe her future vision takes a completely different form to that of a standard Sapphire?
She doesn't harvest gems. Have you ever watched the series? Like all the way through?? If you did, you'd know every gem they bubbled was a monster, and they had to collect them to keep them safe so they could turn them back to normal. In fact, in the last episode, they do just that. They take every bubbled gem and turn them back to normal.
*Disclaimer: The term Gem Harvesting never received an official definition by Rebecca Sugar, I'm only using the one agreed to be correct by the majority of the fandom including The Roundtable and Cartoon Universe.* I've watched the series all the way through over 20 times unironically because I used to be a SU TH-camr but I can understand where the confusion is coming from. Harvesting for farming in real life isn't the same as Gem Harvesting, I'm not accusing Rose Quartz of collecting Gem Stones simply for collecting sake, I'm aware that all of the gems in the burning room are corrupted and *mostly* were once fellow Crystal Gems. Gem Harvesting as a practice is a method of using a Gem's gemstone as a power source against their will like *Pearl gladly using* the Magic Mirror to teach Steven about Homeworld even though she knew Lapis Lazuli was trapped in there or The Desert Glass being used to control and build structures out in the desert confirmed by *Pearl* in the episode to have once belonged to Rose Quartz. I am however very much accusing Rose Quartz of using more trapped gems to accomplish her own selfish desires since we're shown she isn't above the practice. Homeworld seemed to be using Gem Harvesting as a form on punishment and torture, we saw living gems lacing the walls up there. 😬👍
I thought the zoo was created because pink wanted to perserve life on earth but the diamonds misinterepted that and instead kade a zoo for her to keep humans in
@@pokepoke1889 Commenting on two videos, u made my day pokepoke, At 3:22 I left a note explaining this clarification in the captions and at 6:22 I explained this out loud. It's my fault for not writing the script to be clearer, yeah Blue made the Zoo but it was because Pink had an obsession with humans in the first place. Pink was the owner of the Human Zoo in the end. Her secret armory being made similarly at least implies that she liked something about The Zoo. 😁❤️
The gem war was thousands of years ago right? Probably long before governments existed strong and smart enough to even understand what the gems were doing maybe
When Pink arrived on Earth, around 3970 years before the events of the main series, humans were only starting to develop writing and more advanced forms of communication. Most great empires and civilizations didn't even exist (the sumerians were only at its beginning)
Around 29:57, you mention Sapphire's future vison being hampered by fusion. It could explain why her other fusions (the more unstable ones like Alexandrite and Sugilite) don't use future vision at all. You could say that Sugilite lives in the moment and likes having fun at the expense of others, but couldn't she use future vision to predict how Pearl would one-up her? Again, you've got me thinking.
An overcooked gem is a gem that emerges *later* than expected, I wouldn't say that it's jumping the shark to wonder what happens if a gem emerges *earlier* than expected. In fact if you search "Steven Universe Undercooked" you'll see fans asking the same question since we learnt that Amethyst is an overcooked gem up until this very day. 😁👍
Undercooked gems and limited resource gems are in a since the same and no overcooked is not life forced leaked it's compacted. Amy was overcooked but she was done in rush kinder g that thousand of other were made at in close proximity. Amy is as strong as any other one but she not stronger even if she over cooked because she was made in rush kinder g so holes were sideways.
I'm going to take that as a compliment, it means I got the vibe right but no one has ever theorized about Steven being the founder of Cookie Cat like I did in this video so I'm still calling cap my friend. 🧢😅
Idea: blue diamond created the human zoo, and pink took good care of it at first before getting bored like how most people feel when they play the sims the intended way. Which would lead into your idea that Pink created human soldiers then stopped because they were weak.
The cat was Amethyst. Keep in mind that Steven didn't actually see the past that Greg describes in "Story for Steven" and so Steven doesn't have further knowledge of Amethyst transforming into animals prior to "Cat Fingers". Amethyst simply enjoyed transforming into animals as one of her activities, the Owl in the previously mentioned episode, the crocodile in a moat joke in "Full Disclosure", or even the "We kept Amethyst" line from "Steven's Lion". In her Infancy she liked being kept as a pet. "When did you even have a cat" works thematically as Steven, unaware of the crates usage refers to it as junk from the past, making a good point to Amethyst about letting go of the past as she isn't that 500~ year old rock anymore and by extension: the cage representing her past attitudes and the abandonment she felt when Greg became romantically involved with Rose. Garnet referring to the cat as Cat Steven is a reference to the entire episode. Garnet being confused at Steven giving himself up to home world and the myriad of other seemingly random decisions he makes makes her anxious, her directly saying "So many kittens, so many possibilities" should have been a direct indication that the kitten is a mirror of Steven, Garnet made the decision to adopt her, using the same logic Steven uses and therefore: "Cat Steven".
lapis was actually captured by homeworld after she was poofed and they would ask her about the crystal gems because they thought she was one, the crystal gems did not capture lapis but she was mistaken for one, thats why she resents them so badly
Im enjoying this video so far, but I want to comment on rose and the crystal gems harvesting the others and using them like homeworld would. I dont see them as harvesting them, the corrupted gems are in a broken mental state and a danger to themselves and others, most of them are the crystal gems comrades. I see them as bubbling them to keep them safe and under watch until they had a secure way to heal them. And for lapis and the desert glass, they mightve not freed them cause they couldnt know if they could trust them and didnt wanna take any chances with a possible homeworld gem. I just finished the video, it was very good I liked it a lot :) One thing i want to say though is I enjoyed the editing style but one piece of constructive criticism that I kept thinking is when you show clips from the show, if they happen right after eachother maybe let it play with no timecard gag to let the emphasis of the scene towards the point sink, it takes away from things at times- but the rest was very good :)
I love this whole theory and all the stuff it brings to light to think about but sadly we know pink diamond was made at the same time as the other diamonds and all the diamonds represent one mind with pink being the Id white being the super ego and blue and yellow being ego so they all act exactly how they're supposed too even the other diamonds (especially white) looking down on and suppressing pink (the id) just like the ego and super ego does
I don't think Pink was flawed, I think she was meant to be the opposite of White. White was strict and controlling whereas Pink was silly and free spirited. White liked enforcing rules, Pink preferred there be no rules at all. White was closed minded and unaccepting, and Pink was open minded and _loved_ other gems no matter how different or flawed they were. I think the reason she wasn't shattered was becoz as White said, "you're a part of me, the part I always have to repress," meaning it wouldn't matter how many Pink Diamonds she made, they'd still be the parts of White she didn't like.
10:45 sort of but mostly not. Pearl says that it was blue and yellow diamond who built (and kept running) the zoo when pink pleaded for the humans' life. She also says that it was a wish of rose to retrieve them but wasn't able to.
I'm only 31:47 mins in but the thing is for Garnet the future that plays out is based on her actions as knowing the future you change the future and reason Steven makes it harder for her is that her actions don't line up with wht she perceived what she would do. When Sap fused with Ruby the reason Blue D wasn't told is Sap seen and thought I wouldn't fuse but she did which make a blind spot so when Garnet being Garnet with Ruby in the fusion she will be more likely to have blinds spots as the Ruby in her as more unpredictability, yet it allows her Sap side the needed ability to alter an unwanted future.
The human involvement thing can be easily explained by two things: space and time. Firstly, in terms of space, battles in the gem war did occur in many places of the planet, but there was no instance in which it extended simultaneously on a large area. Also, as we see in the places where battles took place, there ae no ruins - human ruins, that is, such as buildings or roads, so although the war was huge on a cosmic scale, earth just suffered a few battles in decently unpopulated areas. Secondly, when it comes to time, we know that when Pink Diamond first began to explore earth under the identity of Rose Quartz, humans, homo sapiens specifically, existed and formed tribe-like communities, but weren't truly advanced. In addition, we also know that when Buddy's book was being written, that being approximately sometime in the 19th century, the war was already long gone by hundreds, if not thousands of years and the gem structures were already ruins. That means that in earth time, the gem war would've taken place at the LATEST sometime in the early middle ages, although late prehistoric times to very early antiquity are much more probable. Therefore, humans were probably involved, but only by chance, when battles happened to take place in close proximity to their establishments, yet their involvement was minimal, due to the lack of a way of communication between different societies globally, as well as no means to track events that happen worldwide, since technology was far too primitive for that. And throughout time, perhaps due to lack of conservation of historical proof or the death of the witnesses of that war, humanity forgot about it, and Greg only knows because Rose told him. That's what makes sense to me at least, idk

In regards to the Human Zoo? _Pink_ didn’t make it, it was *Blue and Yellow!* Go back and watch Pearl’s explanation of Pink’s past, she outright says that when Pink tried to appeal for humanity’s right to live “they took a bunch of humans and out them in the Zoo”, Blue may call the Zoo “Pink’s” but it was she and Yellow who started it to placate their younger sibling (I honestly never noticed the ‘16 humans = 16 sets of armour’ thing before though)
Great video! I enjoy your channel a lot dude. One suggestion though: The captions on the video are really way too big and don’t look nice. Can you just add optional captions to the video using TH-cam caption system and then add text at the beginning of your videos saying that captions are available?
@@Badaboombadaboombaby I appreciate your feedback! For now I don't have enough time to add manual captions, I still have a full time job but I understand that many people would benefit from something like this so I *will* start doing it soon! 😁
People grow and change and after the same thing happens a few times or if it escalates may find themselves feeling differently about it. Connie being upset wasn’t character assassination. Maybe there’s bias here as women are often expected to just be nice and take whatever they can get from their partners and always forgive? And she didn’t do it this time? Because she was upset and had feelings? Regardless I don’t see it as odd that she was “suddenly” upset, it made perfect sense to me. Connie was not completely in the wrong here. Steven unilaterally made a decision that impacted both of them. It makes perfect sense that she was upset, even if she was probably wrong about being able to defeat those guys. Additionally, regardless of how one may feel about who was at fault blah blah blah; two people feeling hurt and having mixed feelings is very common and excellent to see portrayed in a kids show.
Yeah. I always thought it was dumb that pink diamond took herself from a position of power to pretend to be a rose quarts simultaneously creating tensions at her supposed death and removing any leverage and bargaining chips she may have had as a diamond. I’ve argued with people online that replied that she wouldn’t have had any power because they treated her like a child no matter what, but that’s dumb. She started a war as a lowly quarts. You telling me she couldn’t pool together the power and authority she was given as a diamond to do the same. Maybe it would be seen as petty and meaningless in the beginning, but if she took it a quarter as seriously as she did as a quarts than it definetely would have led to concessions and Change. Maybe the flurry of grief and trauma helped the diamonds make a stark change in the end, but that’s hindsight and if your gonna start an intergalactic war, you might as well leverage your power and authority and the love your enemies have for you to induce change rather than skulk in the dark, raise tensions to 1000% immediately, and disappear before any of it is cleared up. I’m okay with the explanation that she was rash and stupid and all of her innocuous, petty decisions built up into one huge mess that even then she failed to acknowledge, staying focused on her close, personal life. That’s not really bad writing. I kind of like it, if they would acknowledge some facets of that, but what we get is maybe good enough on that end. I’m just tired of people defending her decisions as rational or effective as far as her goals went. She threw away all leverage and power she had and brought tensions as high as they could go, immediately. I don’t think she had a plan and if she did it sucked. She wanted what she wanted in the moment without consideration of the consequences and heedless of those around her. Okay, sorry for the rant. Awesome video.
When Pearl said she didn't know the gem in the mirror was that powerful, it was not because she knew there was a gem in it. When Pearl gives the mirror to Steven, she says its an artifact, and doesn't appear to know its real nature. Then, the gems seemed genuinely surprised when Steven says the mirror talked to him. Lapis herself reveals on season 2 that she was captured by gems from Homeworld who thought she was a rebel.

22:16 the most simple way to explain is that the gem is too powerful to handler,so the find the crystal gems for help/common ground. if you guy can't get it you see it in skibidi toilet in ep5 we see human fighting back skibidi toilet but the skibidi toilet are to powerful
On what gems are, they could easilly just be naturally occurring organisms. As they are still carbon based, and some of them can naturally self propagate, which suggests they naturally have a sorta ant-like biological colonialism where only their matriarchs can reproduce. The infinite energy thing-- imma say is probably something along the lines of the zero point energy theory where they're just all tapping into a latent space like a radio picking up on existing signals.
Orrr-- going off an extremely weird one I only heard of through an anime by the name "Dimension W"-- they're all powered by a dimensional plug to a universe where physics is just infinite replications of everything, so if you pass a charge through you'll get an infinite repeating stream of exactly that for as long as the portal can be maintained.
The whole human zoo thing was made by blue. Like I want to like this video but do more research. Misinformation is what made Steven Universe a target for misguided hate in the first place. I like your theories (pink being undercooked) But don't sell misinformation as fact.
@@Gevo-tube At 3:22 I left a note explaining this in bold captions and at 6:22 I explained this out loud. I would never intentionally input misinformation into my videos, especially based on a series that I've followed since I was a child. 😁❤️
I tried, but this is very stupid cuz every single argument can be refuted by the cannon Cuz yk, the Zoo was created by the other diamonds when Pink asked to preserve organic life And they were all disgusted by the gem shard stuff And it's not that Rose had a passion for "collecting" gems in the temple, the remaining cristal gems HAD TO fight against the corrupted gems and bubble them cuz they had no other choice
The problem isn't that Rose Quartz found the corrupted crystal gems and made it her mission to bubble them, it's the fact that she didn't make The Crystal Gems also free those who were trapped inside of objects like The Magic Mirror or The Desert Glass when she knew they were suffering like Lapis and *instead taught them to harness these objects for their own selfish desires* like when Pearl was trying to teach Steven about gem history using the mirror. Moving on, The Diamonds made The Zoo for Pink Diamond, there's no disagreement here. If Rose Quartz was opposed to The Diamonds creating The Zoo and got no personal use out of it then why did she take inspiration from The Choosening Ceremony (16 humans standing in a circle) when she built her secret cave base (16 suits of armor standing in a circle)? These are all canon events in the show, I'm curious as to your thoughts on my reply. 🤔
Whait, in 21:00 if you are talking about THE gem war, that ended with the attack from the 3 diamonds to earth then how could Greg be there? It happened 5000 years before SU main events! Humans were there for sure (or else we wouldn't have a human zoo, whitch is also about 5000 years old) it's estimated humans lived on earth for more than 200.000 years... sooo Plus is stated in one episode that Greg never directly asked about the war nor was he interested in it
Why is Connie having feeling and expressing her feelings portrayed as bad? They been taught to fight TOGETHER, and he took that choice away from her by giving himself up. That's upsetting. Also, Lion had always had his own will and mind and chose to go with Connie, she didnt take him. Many times, Lion outright didn't cooperate with Steven just because. Also, the "joke" about Connie being a monkey drowning is... interesting.
Hahaha, that is by far the edgiest joke that I've ever made on the channel but if it's any consolation I'm black myself... not that black people can't be racist too but I meant no harm by including the joke, the clip was just in my mind when I was editing. Everything else in your comment is respectable, I'm going to admit that it makes sense that Connie would be mad about having the choice to fight alongside Steven being taken away from her. Problem is that every single time prior to this she's never blamed Steven for going off on his own and doing what was needed to be done. Season 1 Finale, she was worried about him and literally says "You're the one that's been through everything, the least I could do is just listen." Early Season 4 when Steven rushed to space after Connie had extensive training to fight alongside him with Pearl, she was incredibly understanding. Early Season 5 rolls around and she's mad when she's not included in a fight that *we all know* she'd clearly have no chance of winning anyway... It's felt off to me. 🤔
Omg, I nearly got a heart attack, I made the first 2 minutes and posted it 2 months ago and left the credit in the description but forgot to add it in this full video. Thanks for reminding me!!😁👍
I still say Pink Diamond was never meant to be a bad guy. Rebecca totally thought everyone would love her, she tried really hard to get everyone to love her and Rose, then when it was obvious no one did she threw her hands up and went "uh...yeah! She was always a bad guy, yup so awful." Same with the Human Zoo. When Sugar conceived of that, she earnestly didn't see how messed up that was until the backlash, then being the two faced hypocrite she is, went and retconned it to be Yellow/Blue's idea when it was clearly stated to be Pink's in its debut episode.
Pink is not meant to be just bad or good. The show starts showing the good she did and then starts showing the bad too, meaning that, even if she was idealized by the others, she did many mistakes. But she is not "Bad" or evil per se. And this is shown like this even on Future (for example, the episode when Steven doesn't feel comfortable with the portrait of Rose and then he starts accepting her as she was). And about the Zoo, I thought it was pretty clear since it first appearance that it was made by Blue in honor to Pink, because Pink had a fascination for humans and Blue, not really understanding her feelings, made the zoo because she thought Pink would have like it. Pink saw humans as complex, beautiful and important beings, and Blue interpreted it as just cute animals
No the point is that love wins and that u can love even if u seem bad she not a good person she a person. Why do she has to be fully good or bad "What makes you think I'm so special" is the point she is flawed. There is nothing perfect the whole White D having color when her facade breaks is the point driven home.
@@Funny-Fumbler At 3:22 I left a note explaining this in bold captions and at 6:22 I explained this out loud. It's my fault for not writing the script to be clearer though, yeah Blue made the Zoo but it was because Pink had an obsession with humans in the first place. Pink was the owner of the Zoo in the end. 😁❤️
The human zoo was completely organised by blue and yellow diamond and there system of life tooo.... Pink only could have contributed to the food which they ate as we saw that the apples come in different colors...... Pink collection could be just a small details in the way they stand.... Note:-- it was s1 and the story wasnt completely organised.... We saw that there were time travelling technology with the homeworld but that episode isnt considered canon as then diamonds would have used it to save the pink diamond..... Perphaps this might be a way in which the armour are put away all together in homeworld.... The humans might have just been viewed as objects and thus they stand in the similiar pattern... also we heard that yellow haired human girl in the zoo say once a human got terribly hurt and a pink gem(pink diamond) came in helped him... This shows pink affection towards the humans of human zooo

Steven Universe is NOT a masterpiece! Believe me, guys! It’s a horrible disgusting🤮insulting show that destroys and downplays my Gem💎Titans Sagas Series’s characters and THEIR much more amazing and PERFECT story📚arcs.
Guys It’s not satire. I’m just speaking to expose the horrible truths about and behind the show. Gem💎Titans’s beautiful😍and lovely🥰characters and storylines📚are LIGHT💡YEARS better than Steven🛑❌🚫Universe🛑🚫❌because it tells the stories the CORRECT✅way, the way they’re SUPPOSED to be told by putting that sociopathic evil👿brat Connie🔥☄️💥⚡️in her place!
I hate how in Steven 1 Ronaldo was kind of an interesting character, the outcast that was actually right about things. Horror Club set up a more nuanced deeper look at him as a character, but they pretty much never followup with it anymore and just flanderize him constantly as a strawman unlikeable nerd character. Which was kind of unfortunate. I thought they were gonna go more in a Dib direction, believing in aliens or the supernatural when nobody else did. Peedee was similar, his first episode gives him lots of depth then they pretty much shelve him forever. Lars and Sadie weren't as interesting IMO, since all their drama amounted to wither or not they wanted to be seen as a couple in public and how popular Lars was. Felt like there was lots more they could've done. Even the tease with Lars being a space-pirate really didn't get much focus. Kevin was a much better jerk-ass character IMO than Lars was, so I think nipping out Lars and just replacing him with Kevin would've been more interesting. Sadie low-key dating the rich popular kid who didn't want to be seen with her? Makes more sense than Lars, who already didn't seem popular, rich or even really known by other teens in the town. Thought you'd have to get rid of the Stevonnie/Kevin arc probably for that to work out the same if you made Steven obsessive with being friends with Kevin like he was Lars. (Again, theoretically if you just replaced Lars as a character with Kevin; i.e. Lars just isn't in the show)
1:33:00 I don't agree that it was bad writing to include the relationship between Lapis and Jasper as a parallel to toxic relationships. It IS messy. All the work of Sugar, even outside SU, IS about how messy relationships are, and that it is pretty uninteressing to try to define what or who is Bad, moral... Everyone is a fuze and human chemestry is just... Explosive. The good. Thé Bad. The weird. Lapis being as toxic as Jasper in the relationship is true to reality.

When she turned into Rose Quartz, she learnt in a way how to empathise with other gems, and the fact that she didn't come back to her could be explain by 2 theories:
@@lewilbur spinal was how the diamonds seen her

I like this analysis but I don’t think rose would use humans in the war and she didn’t even want the human Zoo that was Blue trying to appease her and it seems out of character since she was so dedicated to protecting Earth and its life including humans
yea i agree
Ok good, I was confused for a second, because I swear it was Blue Diamond who made the zoo to tribute her sister after seemingly dying, not Pink who made the zoo.
the human zoo was made to preserve human life because blue thought thats what she wanted not to experiment on humans and armor but i mean good video
srsly im so baffled at all these other comments praising this video when it unabashedly presents outdated, easily disproven, bad-faith fan theories as fact and evidence of rose being evil. in 2024. bruh. 😀
I was going to comment this exact thing. Also the whole "gem harvesting" thing was not something she was a *fan* of. All those gems that were bubbled were the gems that had been corrupted by the Diamond attack, which the remaining Crystal Gems worked to poof and bubble to keep them safe in the event that they could eventually find a cure.
not my reply to this comment getting deleted 💀

•A overcooked gem is one that takes in too much resources to create their gem, causing them to have more weight to them like amethyst.
(The bulk of what I'm saying can be confirmed through a Google search, I wanted to leave timestamps to individual episodes but that'd take a *lot* more time, haha.)
Pink Diamond was defective and off colored because she chose to turn on her own kind, this is true. It's definitely still possible for Pink Diamond to have been undercooked (or even overcooked) as well because the terms have nothing to do with her decision to abandon homeworld.

•Both jasper and peridot immediately knew just by looking at amethysts that she came out late. They constantly pointed it out.(Overcooked=Small)
•Some of the Amethests aren't off colors at the zoo, you can see what Amethests are meant to look like at home world.(All Zoo Amethests are defective, but not all of them are off color)(Amethyst isn't off color)
•Peridot points out all the gems in the beta kindergarten came out wrong except for jasper, going off of nothing but the body types she decided if they had too much or too little nutrients.(How much nutrients decides how the gem looks)
•Jasper was pointed out to be"Perfect"(This means jasper didn't get too much or too little nutrients)
•Chubby Gem is Overcooked therefore defective
•Big Bulky gem is Perfect
•Small gems are considered defective but not undercooked as shown by peridot
The words are just meant to be a play on beauty standards of homeworld. Like when peridot was inspecting where Amethest emerged and was saying "too skinny" "too wide" "too asymmetrical"
Jasper practically called Amethest a fat midget(Overcooked/Too wide) (Defective/Wrong height)
(Coming out the wrong height was pointed out by peridot to be because the holes were placed too close to each other.
Connie isnt in the wrong for being upset, and as the show established she didnt ignore him while she was upset either, she didnt want to talk over the phone about it and attempted to talk to him in person multiple times
Stevens actions are understandable but went against the whole lessons of full disclosure and sworn to the sword
Too many people think if a choice is morally or logically correct, you cant be hurt by it or have no right to be.
When someone you love and faught for lies or does something behind your back and takes control of a choice that should have been in part yours to make together.
something unusual about Garnet and her future vision is that its the only power she actually retains, completely losing both her fire *and* ice powers
so maybe her future vision takes a completely different form to that of a standard Sapphire?
She doesn't harvest gems. Have you ever watched the series? Like all the way through?? If you did, you'd know every gem they bubbled was a monster, and they had to collect them to keep them safe so they could turn them back to normal. In fact, in the last episode, they do just that. They take every bubbled gem and turn them back to normal.
*Disclaimer: The term Gem Harvesting never received an official definition by Rebecca Sugar, I'm only using the one agreed to be correct by the majority of the fandom including The Roundtable and Cartoon Universe.*
I've watched the series all the way through over 20 times unironically because I used to be a SU TH-camr but I can understand where the confusion is coming from.

@PureLoveWithoutWarmth That makes more sense... 😅
….gems get overcooked, not undercooked… they spend too much time in the ground and the life force leeches out, not the other way around.
If you’ve seen one video on Steven Universe, you’ve seen them all.
I'm going to take that as a compliment, it means I got the vibe right but no one has ever theorized about Steven being the founder of Cookie Cat like I did in this video so I'm still calling cap my friend. 🧢😅
@@TheCrowReviewer I mean that in a bad way because they’re all horrible.
@@sirpheredin1379 No worries, I know you don't mean that. 😖
The same as your comments brah.
Holy crap I love the “Steven Made CookieCat” / CatSteven theory!! 💚
@@Jax_isaViewer That theory honestly is one of my wilder ones, glad it wasn't too far fetched for you, haha! 🤣❤️
When she turned into Rose Quartz, she learnt in a way how to empathise with other gems, and the fact that she didn't come back to her could be explain by 2 theories:
In my opinion, what Pink did is (kind of) excusable, since she didn't want a child doll to get in her way and I am very sure that the other Diamonds would NOT have loved to have her, after she was rejuvenated, since they were mature and had to deal with other responsabilities.

I always assumed they were actually using the 'cyan' and 'magenta' colors, but that it was just easier to call them 'blue' and 'pink' for children.

I think it’s confirmed in the Steven universe: end of an era art book that the diamonds were all created in the same time-
Yeah lol this video is dumb
22:16 the most simple way to explain is that the gem is too powerful to handler,so the find the crystal gems for help/common ground. if you guy can't get it you see it in skibidi toilet in ep5 we see human fighting back skibidi toilet but the skibidi toilet are to powerful
Id like to think Steven was pink if she wasnt undercooked.
1:18
NO??? IT IS LITERALLY REVEALED IN THE ARTBOOK THAT THEY WERE ALL BORN AT THE SAME TIME
On what gems are, they could easilly just be naturally occurring organisms.
I like your theories (pink being undercooked)
But don't sell misinformation as fact.

I tried, but this is very stupid cuz every single argument can be refuted by the cannon
Cuz yk, the Zoo was created by the other diamonds when Pink asked to preserve organic life
And they were all disgusted by the gem shard stuff
And it's not that Rose had a passion for "collecting" gems in the temple, the remaining cristal gems HAD TO fight against the corrupted gems and bubble them cuz they had no other choice
Humans were there for sure (or else we wouldn't have a human zoo, whitch is also about 5000 years old) it's estimated humans lived on earth for more than 200.000 years... sooo
Plus is stated in one episode that Greg never directly asked about the war nor was he interested in it
Why is Connie having feeling and expressing her feelings portrayed as bad?
The zoo was blue. The cluster was yellows idea b
Who’s the artist who did the cool work at the beginning? It’s awesome!
She was always a bad guy, yup so awful."
Same with the Human Zoo.
There is nothing perfect the whole White D having color when her facade breaks is the point driven home.
but one thing, when white took out his gem out of him, they still chose steven as their form

A lot of these questions are answered by the fact the gem world was fought hundreds of years ago
