      I am pretty disappointed that your giveaway requires twitter. It a pretty stupid platform but I understand for some people but still useless unless your famous and have a following. By requiring your viewers to have a point account with twitter cuts a portion of your viewers out, as I am sure there are others like me that refuse to make a twitter. I was actually looking forward to the chance to read through the book if I won but once I heard twitter I was like welp oh well. Just a thought.

      @Thiickolas 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Onima are you serious? If it was about the book I could just go buy it. I was saying from the standpoint I stated that I was actually interested in the offer even though that’s not why I watched the video or any other of these videos for that reason. But Immediately lost interest when I heard twitter and was just a form of feed back.
      Second I’m sure majority of these viewers don’t have a twitter. I’m sure the 12-15 ppl you have following you or what ever twitters word for it is, can go with out knowing that your like totally over Monday’s. Twitter is useless. I understand it’s purpose but everything can easily be accomplished without it.

      This is spot on - cross-realm and excessive phasing is what killed server community, which no matter what you were dabling with, be it RP, PVP or PvE - were the backbone and central pillar of the game. The whole aspect of doing your thing, knowing your neighbor - meeting people again and actually knowing people on your server, also outside your guild.
      Nowdays we have a "balanced" and "populated" world of randoms who shift in and out of reality, and whom you most likely never meet again if you dont add them to your personal friends lists or add them to your guild.

But they could fill up a quarter of the square before Orgrimmars AH. The rest of the square was packed with "normal" players looking at that giant beblooded pole with a draginshead atop.
    My wife played alongside with me and I think we spend 2 hours a day playing the game. Watching boring television or WoW... that's not a contest ;)

    Classic is a game where you get out of it what you put into it. 'Casuals' just want to play a game and have fun, and Classic offers that. Not everyone needs (or wants) to be decked out in epics. They don't need to hit Rank 14. They just need stuff to do, and content in Classic takes SO long that it's perfect for casuals.

      Casual play - what goes that mean in 2019? In 2004-2006, daily play of 2-3 hrs with a day or two off each week made it easy to be all epic. Honestly, if I play again, i can imagine a lot of ways to gear up enough to run even 20 men just playing casually. Learn your class, do 5 mans with a solid group, get a good reputation, and buttress your gear with activity in pvp and you’ll get there! I’m looking forward to playing more than one primary class - loved playing Druid and running stealth runs, but all the classes are compelling and this time around there is no BC to prevent you from finding chances to play what you want.

    I've been a classic raider, going up to Sapphiron in Naxx. Yes, that was time consuming, and I had the time back then.
    With new classic release, now having a 40+ hour job and wife, I'll probably be able to put in 10-15 hours a week. I'm very fine with getting late to raid tiers. Why?
    There will be casual guilds, of similar minded people, but still determined to progress in the time we have. We don't need to make it to AQ or Naxx "in time". We'll get there, eventually, enjoying the journey.
    I think I'll enjoy it way more that way, because I can take the time, and it isn't necessarily the "push for the realm first", or "staying on-par with the top guilds". I'll play it for my enjoyment, with the time I have.
    Oh, and I won't be tanking this time, I decided to get the opposite view: healer :-) .. that will be fun picking the "worst" healer in game (Druid) and trying to compete with others who have group heals and fast heals. Never mind a challenge, they'll take me anyway and if it's for the buffs :p.

    • @connman8d617
      @connman8d617 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're able to spend 15 hours per week playing classic WoW then you'll reach level 60 in about 3 months. That's right around how much time it took me to get there on initial launch. Even back then being a noob keyboard turning clicker I managed to get to max level, gear up through dungeons, get into a top guild and get in on the server's first kills of Garr and Baron Geddon and the 2nd kills of Onyxia and Ragnaros. I guess what I'm saying is, with 15 hours a week to play you'll be right on the curve with most players. Only the most hardcore players will be significantly ahead of you in terms of progression.

    I was one of the casuals in vanilla WoW and most of the content is indeed doable.
    I was in a split dedicated/casual guild, and was on the guild’s C raiding team (A was pushing high end content, B was the “Tryout” team, C was the casual raiders). When Burning Crusade hit I was in full T2 gear minus one piece.
    Molten Core raids were some of the best raiding experiences I’ve had in gaming. It’s quite doable on a limited time budget.

If you are completely new i'd say most raiding content is off limits on 10 hours a week unless you have a very good guild or friends who do have experience or have exeptional talent. Even the endgame 5 man dungeons can be extremely hard and/or time consuming in a pick up group with unexperienced players. I think that in general the game is alot harder than you seem to remember when you were new aswell.

    I mean since the beginning I knew that I wouldn't manage anything else but a few hours per week tops. But still that'll suit me. Xping at my own pace, running a couple of dungeons in a week. Looks good.
    The one thing I wanted to use summer for though was to try and relieve younger years and pull a marathon to 60.
    I had signed with those people doing the "Molten Core the First Week" challenge.
    But if I do that I'll never be able to recover sleep properly. I mean just yesterday I pull a workday of more than 24h without any form of rest - I know that I'll be unavailable for the next two days. Especially since my heart can't handle that crap any more and I regularly have the precursory signs of an attack so the doctors say I must rest properly ...

Exhausting job, wife, 20 month year old daugther etc etc. I will play as a hunter this time as I have so less time. Reasons are = Easy leveling, great solo farming abilities, great open pvp/bg abilities and hopefully asked/great in dungeons. Will not have any time for raiding , actually rarely for dungeons ( 2-3 hours in a row is difficult with wife and small kid ). Still looking so much for it, can´t wait. Keep up the great work !

    I would actually argue that some aspects of classic wow were much more casual friendly.
    If you define your world of warcraft experience and your "goal" in the game as raiding, as I have for many years now, then
    the days of hardcore nax raiding and grinding to max asap, looking at spreadsheets, boss mechanics, farming materials is most certainly not casual friendly.
    I think it would be silly to say that was all World of Warcraft was tho. It was a world, first and foremost.
    My father played for a few years before he passed away. Playing the AH, herbing and grinding gold was what he enjoyed most about it. I'm sure somebody enjoyed skinning or enchanting just as much as he enjoyed playing the auction house, but i auctally feel like world of warcraft's downfall began when people started playing the game only for endgame, and only for the new zones. the old zones became empty, and meaningless.
    If they want to save the game, they need to put the RPG back into MMORPG. Make the old world matter again. In some capacity. if you add new herbs to the game, spread them throughout the world. If you add new enchants, make the recipes and materials to perform the enchant located everywhere, not just the new zones and so on.
    I enjoyed skinning mobs in the shimmering flats. on my server which was alliance biased I hardly ran into anybody. If i wanted solitude, i could find it in the world. If i wanted to group, there were challenges i could not overcome alone, IN THE WORLD.
    I guess what i'm saying is, Its not about casual, or hardcore, new or old. Make the game an rpg again. Bring some meaning back into the world, and let everybody find their niche on the server, their place to belong. There were many aspects of the game. In classic, raiding was like the icing on top of a beautifully baked cake. the extra stuff to do when you hit max.
    Now its the point. and its the only point. race to max, and wait, and damn everything else.

    I was totally different man back there, during 2005-2006 I was on 3/4th year at Uni, had no obligations, no job, lived at my parents and loved wow, spent 5-10 hours per day, was one of the top ones in DKP ratings, farmed herbs, did flasks and such, helped guildmates etc. I started full time job in 2008 and there it all changed, as IT engineer spending 8 hours in office in front of PC I couldn't even think of spending additional 8 hours home raiding, I was just too exhausted and tired of sitting. I went semi casual during tbc and full casual after wotlk. in 2012 I began to build my own house, in 2014 I moved in there with my wife. Now I have so many real life things to take care of that I can only spend 30min - 1-2hour per week playing games, 2 cars, wife, house, garden, working out 4 days a week, and my mom who recently lost my dad is all by herself. I miss the old days but whenever I can spend some time on PC I play classics like Thief, System Shock 2 or even older games...Nostalgia or not, we all change overtime, for me past 10 years changed my life totally but I will NEVER ever regret the days I spent in WoW with my mates and the all the fun we had. I myself played for around an hour a day, with 2-3 hours a day during the weekend. I enjoyed the game immensely. I raided MC and Onyxia regularly and even set foot in BWL. It's insane that people think they 'deserve' access to absolutely everything because of their circumstances. I played casually - a lot of time but not seriously - back then, yet I completely accepted the fact I'd never see AQ40 or Naxx, or reach any high rank in PvP. If one doesn't have the time, then it really is selfish to expect the game's progression system to be compromised for one's own sake.
    Many of the people in my vanilla guild were adults with jobs and families. In my experience that hasn't changed at all when one looks at the average player. It's also true that there were plenty of terrible players who still managed to reach 60, so all this nonsense about it being 'elitist' wanting vanilla challenge really makes no sense.

    I still think that "today we don't have time" argument is kinda bs.
    Though it is true many of us played vanilla in our teens when we didn't have jobs, families or other responsibilities. There were still a large player base in vanilla of adult people that did have those responsibilities and balanced them and playing the game just fine.
    A friend I went to college with told me her mother was a single mother that had to raise her pretty much alone. But she had not only time to play the game from time to time. She also was a guild leader and managed a 40 man raid team to mc and BWL. If a single mother can do that in addition to working and raising a daughter then a lazy pre-grad working as a cashier can at least manage to level to 60.

Most of your the gear you will earn when you start raiding come from raids. So you don't feel pressured to do all kinds of small activities to keep yourself relevant in the guild.

    I've been playing private for a year or two now with my max level being 53 and 48 with my main Human Warrior Tank and my Human Paladin Healer. I played for about 30mins to and hour a day and a good 3-10hours on the weekend, with about 3-8 dungeons a month depending on what was available at the time. I would spend small time doing generic quests and making small progress at a time but on weekends I would dedicate a lot of time to profession grinding and helping my guild be at a level we could all play together with cohesion.
    As a officer in a small vanilla/classic guild of friends it's important to dedicate your professions and time to help people do those nasty elite quests in Red Ridge, Duskwood and the Alterac Mountains; also in those early levels it's a good idea to provide rare gems or rare items in return for bags and enchantments, there will always be a tailor or a smithy, so get on their good side and help them out from time to time, and maybe not sell that spider silk or random gem?
    I don't know why i'm saying this, must be because I have vanilla waiting fatigue.

    You can not play WoW casually, by the time you get decent gear it will be useless in a patch or two. It's a never ending treadmill.

    I'm currently playing on a vanilla private Server and i can confirm . . Every level up feels so good.... So if you level up one level every 2 sessions of gaming you will still feel engage on the game ...maybe even more... The difficulty and the necessity to group up makes it so you can live the world your own way and at your own pace

  • @Texas240
    @Texas240 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I recently saw another TH-camr trying to define "casual gamer" as it relates to the industry in general, where the term is derogatory.
    I was already an adult, working full time, when Vanilla was a thing. The people I raided with were a mix working adults and college students, for the most part.
    I would classify myself and many of the people I played with as "hard-core casual". Casual because of limited time to play and hard-core because when we were playing, we weren't screwing around (at least not when we were in a group or raid).
    That's not to say the game was work. There were plenty of moments of random humor.
    Just because someone doesn't play for a "hard-core" duration per game sitting does not mean they can't be good when they are playing.
    Another benefit of classic, for time limited people is that, without the advent of the resilience stat, you don't need to farm separate pvp gear to be competent in pvp.
    With that said, I don't recommend warrior to a person with limited time. In vanilla, warriors had no sustain and spent a lot of time eating and bandaging and could be downright un-fun, at times, when playing solo.

      @Berserker What are you on about? I was making a silly response to the question of what is adulthood, and as an adult you can afford to buy things you want and not have to ask a parent but at the same time other will judge you if you play video games equating that to childish or not adulthood. your @ to me have nothing to do with what I wrote.

    I was 23-24 when I started playing tbc, now I'm... older lol :p. Didn't want kids so don't have them to deal with but I'm still going to play casual.. I've already raided hardcore in tbc and wotlk(and also raided in a few private servers and in bfa till I left out of pure boredom), I'm over it.
    I just want to enjoy the ride up to level 60. I plan to take as long as I did back when I first started wow, I'm the weirdo that loves questing and has done loremaster a few times.. I like to take my time and read quests lol and also work on professions, meeting people, running groups. I am in zero rush. If I raid, cool, if I don't eh no biggie. If I find a good guild that is raiding and doing well then I'll stick with it but right now I only have my server picked out, nothing else. So to me, yes there's plenty for casuals to enjoy imo. :)
