You really helped us in a very tough time as we have to take the decision for the coming days . I wish you health and thank you both.

This was helpful as I still work through my grief over the loss of my beloved dog Samson. He was a rescue and we were together 12 years. He was very healthy but had a reaction after receiving his rabies and distemper shots- he had autoimmune hemolytic anemia and then had a bad reaction to the first blood transfusion. Unfortunately he developed PTE and his red blood cells began breaking down again and bilirubin was extremely high. He looked miserable and they had oxygen on him and I chose to have him euthanized. I am a hospice nurse but I still struggle with doubt and guilt at especially since he seemed to react to the sleep medication being injected - he began to back away and made a moan. That memory haunts me although I believed his quality of life was gone. It all happened so fast and only a few days after we celebrated his gotcha day where he ran like he used to years ago and just seemed like he still had years to live. I still question if there was more that could have been done
