You're probably right it was in a mountain lake and there was a volcanic eruption which blasted it out of the lake and it slid down the snowcapped mountains to the beach. Its obvious really Ps was there snow on the mountains ??? and isn't it obvious the calf was hers, whats there to know.
It was obviously reverse evolution. Unfortunately it finished evolving into a whale just a few feet short of the water.

They were not "excited" as one being joyful. They were curious people that were more in "awe" of the whale's massive size, seeing it up close realizing just how big of a sea creature it is.
They aren't happy that its washed up and dead on the beach. Its the fact that they are witnessing something that they probably won't see ever again. Human race isn't all that bad, unless that is what you want to focus on . Too much news is bad for your health. But if you want to see bad look at the whale that was washed up on the shore in south Africa and take a look at the free for all humans started on that whale. This situation is very good compared to that.

I grew up on the central coast of California, I'll never forget when I was a kid a humpback whale washed up on shore. Some rich guy that lived on the beach got the bright idea to use TNT to scader most of the whale all over the shore. He said on the news that he thought most of it would wash out to sea and attract sharks and he was hoping they would eat what was left....
Long story short when the dynamite went off peices of the whale flew everywhere. People that were parked less than a mile away from the site had really extensive damage done to their vehicles due to projectiles. A hand full of people were injured and the guy ended up getting sued.
Don't let the Oregon army corps of engineers near it.
Hah!! In the end they were just a bunch of guys who wanted to see something huge blow up... such a classic news story.

FYI, if you ever find a washed up whale, do not go near it! They have a tendency to explode while decomposing! Because they are so big, the explosion does have enough force to kill a human.
