I made my first rod in 1990. I used your fathers book. It’s a real treat to see mr garrison in his shop. It’s also fun to see he got a bit frustrated sometimes too.

This is a very enjoyable film. It’s interesting comparing the way rod make of today versus how it was done in the past. I’m glad that this film was preserved.

Man this was amazing to watch... haven't fly fished since I was in college in The George Washington National Forest about 20 years ago, lately I've been thinking of getting back to it... After seeing this video... The time is now.

Physical American history. Both the video and the man and his products. Unbelievable.

What a pleasure to find this! I lent out my VHS of it years ago to a friend who soon divorced... and lost it in the melee. This, more than anything, made rodmaking "real" to me and enticed me to give it a try. The ensuing years of enjoyment to myself and to my clients is a tribute to what Mr. Garrison shared to us for today. Thank you Mr. Carmichael for putting this and THE book together back in the day. You saved the art.

Very cool to see the whole process. The Dip varnishing process was mind blowing.

Watching this in preparation for restoring an old split-bamboo fly-rod I bought on Ebay, with my dad. Recognized the name 'Hoagy Carmichael' from Ian Fleming's 'James Bond' writings. 👍
