The pred drive shaft is half an inch taller than stock , longer belts are needed and you can have auger control . It works fine on my conversion. Safety is important and when something like a extension cord is winding it’s way into the machine , it’s nice to have a way to stop it.

I'd be somewhat weary about trusting the little low amperage output stator on that 420cc to properly keep a healthy charge in that lawn tractor battery which has to be anywhere from what 220-310cca? Your asking a little much outta that cheap Chinese like I said low output stator. They are not meant to charge batteries they are meant to power a couple very low amperage draw utilities like an 1156 headlamp bulb. edit , just heard you say that you installed a second stator and wired them both in parallel. Btw you can totally power high output Led flood lamp with just the single stator as I power a 55watt halogen h1 fog lamp that I mounted on my snowblower which is a troy bilt with a 243cc Chinese Honda clone engine called a Powermore engine which is very very similar and possibly even made in the same factories as the harbor freight predator engines along with all the other Chinese honda clone motors that they are literally using on everything nowadays that utilizes a medium output horizontal shaft engine style , the 179cc the 208cc, 243cc 277cc 312cc all are made under the powermore name and are used on all Troy bilt, Craftsman, yard machines, cub cadet, Toro, poulan, and prob a few other companies as well, the harbor freight line of predictor engines are nearly identical infact I wouldn't doubt that some basic parts are interchangeable with the powermore engines , and predator engines are well the same just a different sizing group , 79cc, 212cc, 301cc and the big bad 420cc which is way way overkill on a small 28" deck two stage snowblower , a 6.5hp 212cc motor could power that 28" box with little bogging in the heavy stuff. Cool swap I like it , I'm just shocked you actually opted to pay $380 for the engine alone not to mention how much extra money you need for the proper pulleys , belts , wiring for your key start ignition (which is totally unnecessary and kinda silly honestly) and your garden tractor battery which alone was at least $40 prob. So what are you into this swap in total $500-550? That's a hell of alot of money , but I guess with such a good solid chassis and gear box , you wouldn't get anything close to the same quality and sturdyness for even $1000 if you bought a new machine , only thing good on the new machines are these Chinese Honda clone motors honestly , the box and frame on my 3 year old $850 Troy bilt is made of mostly single wall 14 gauge mild steel which if you know steel fabrication you'd know that for a snowblower that is not thick enough and will not stand the test of time. 14 gauge steel is ok for the box and frame but there must be the correct reinforcement brackets and plates spot welded on in all high stress areas to make it sturdy , do that or find a machine built like that nowadays and I'd trust it to last 10-15 years at least , but 14 gauge without proper support brackets and truss's and plates is gonna leave you with a weak flimsy machine that will fall to pieces once any real rust developed on the chassis not to mention how many issues with stress cracks you'll face 5-6 years down the road of good use. Though these Chinese clones are proving their toughness and reliability the last few years and I totally trust them for the Long haul you still can never beat the good old fashion bulletproof L-head tecumsehs which also were a freaken breeze to work on because everything was right there open and exposed , you don't have to deal with large annoying plastic front facias that span the entire back side of the motel requiring 25-30 minutes work if you already know what your doing just to get the damn carburator off , you could pull a carb off an old Tecumseh , rebuild it and reinstall it in that same 25-30 minutes, the good old days are gone for good unfortunately . BTW why did you bother to order the OEM scraper plate for the machine without one instead of just buying a piece of 3 foot 1 1/2 inch by 1/8" or even 3/16" mild steel flat stock drill the 4-5 holes to mount it using the factory mounting holes and if you wanted to get real fancy put it in a vice and take a 4 1/2" angle grinder with a grinding disc or 36 grit flap disc and grind the ground facing edge to a sharp cutting edge , I coulda made a scraping bar from flat stock that would be indistinguishable from the OEM unit within 30 minutes with a 4 1/2" angle grinder , a cutting disc and a grinding disc or flap disc , a drill and some good sharp quality titanium or Cobalt coated drill bits and a cheapo can of orange spray paint bro , and woulda cost me less then $10 to make given that you already own the grinder , drill and drill bits. Your obviously not a stickler for only OEM parts cause you got a harbor freight motor on the damn thing. To each his own I sippose.

We had an ice and snow storm here in ohio.we have a 24 inch snotek we had very little traction so we got a set of chains. When I put them on the inside holes the tires hit the gear box.can I use the outer holes on the axle will that be okay
Yes the outer hole will be fine should make turning easier… Remember the Pontiac Commercials where they say wider is better lol? On some machines…if the shaft will walk. The next day, went back out to service and go over the machines and I really discovered how UNBALANCED this machine was. All the weight was in the back due to well buil and oversized 11HP Tecumseh. Our issue was weight but we couldnt correct as the front weight kits were on National Back Order with no release date. We waited weeks and finally got them in.
