John Carpenter & Alan Howarth did both sdtks you mentioned. Similar yes, but different tracks. a version of big trouble on ebay for 14 plus s/h, more for used versions on amazon. great score for sure. the 2-disc is overpriced everywhere it seems. didn't look for escape but i'm sure it's around. Faltermeyer is primarily known for this, Top Gun, Fletch, and the Running Man scores. a few others peppered around, but Carpenter always did his own scores (including the iconic Halloween theme).
I might have connected dots beyond reasonable, but this sounds almost identical to some Shadowrun NES soundtrack parts, almost all the soundtrack has parts that are verbatim with that ambient-thriller score. Not the actual songs, of course...
there is some cross over, check out escape from new york, look for a track featuring 'THE DUKE' its VERY similar to the intro of Beverly Hills Cop 2 ! Even though John Carpenter did the score for New York
