The kid with cancer story is heart touching. Sports have the power to divide but they also have the greater power to unite.
I went to that stadium (Stadium Of Light) on a trip about a year after the kid died and it was really emotional to be where he was. The gift shop front was a massive photo of him doing the thumbs up and I had to get a shot of it. Such a tragic loss of life.

A lot of money was raised for the treatment but he sadly died. Now his parents run the Bradley Lowery Foundation, which I really recommend that people donate to.

Why is it that sexuality has a divide and labels? We are all human and personal attraction only means something to you and your partner. It is like each individual sexuality is a different class or breed. We can all be successful in the areas we choose regardless to who we love.

I've never liked football, never really found it fun to watch or play. Don't care for it much.
But do love how it can unite some people and bring peace to some groups.
My favourite part of higher history was going to Belgium and learning about how football stopped the fighting between the soldiers for a few hours. I may not like it, but even football haters can't deny how much of a positive impact it has on the world.

Football is beautiful. As a Newcastle fan, it's amazing and heart warming to see 2 rival teams put differences between each other to one side and support someone unfortunate enough to have a terminal illness. I love bradley lowery and its amazing how much football unites people.
I think some sports fans would be shocked to learn that, statistically, at least 1 in 10 players are gay, and if you include players that are bisexual to some degree, it's probably 1 in 5 or more.

I've been berated a couple of times when holding hands with my boyfriend, they soon lost their nerve when I confronted them about it. I'm not a imposing person, quite the opposite. But people don't expect to be called out on their BS and therefore don't have a response when they are most of the time.
I've never understood how someone's sexuality is anyone else's business. In sure for celebrities it is more public. It's not something I find comes up in my conversations with people. People discuss not getting jobs etc. because of it. I've done hundreds and hundreds of job interviews. Never once did I ever discuss it with a potential hire nor, about one. Football is their job. Leave the rest at home.

My grandad played in that football game on Christmas Day in the 1st world war. He eventually he got shot in his heart in WW1 but it was right at the top so he survived. He was in the 1st and 2nd world war. My dad served in WW2 and was in charge of a Japanese prison of war camp. Both my grandad and my dad came back very broken men. They both had mental health issues but there was nobody to help people who had gone through so much trauma in those days

One of my old high school friends is gay. He's, quite frankly, one of the single most camp people in the universe. Gay stereotypes on TV have nothing on him. He's also adopted from Russia. It's a bit spooky knowing that if he hadn't been lucky enough to be adopted to the UK as a baby he'd probably have died in prison by now.

As a 22 year old who loves football more than anything, I found this hard to watch. It makes my back tense up because, as a gay guy, it's a topic so rarely talked about. I hope a player doesn't come out alone, if they got 10-15 players from around the world to come out then the club's all back their players...it would be fantastic. Let's never forget that Russia (or the USSR) was the first country in the world to decriminalise homosexuality. They did it in 1917, although it was re-criminalised in 1933. IT IS LEGAL TO BE GAY IN RUSSIA. It has been since 1993. There is a thriving LBGT community in the big cities in Russia, with gay bars, gay night clubs and gay support services.

Putin has gone on record saying that he has no problem with homosexuality. He has investigated the crackdown on gay people by the Chechen government.
There is a lot of homophobia and ignorance in parts of Russia - just like there has always been in parts of the USA, but I don't recall Russell Howard taking the piss out of Obama about it when he was president. 2011 in Sweden a 20 year old player in our highest football league came out as gay. He is the first one to do so and we LOVE him as a player and he is an amazing person and role model for young people both on and of the fotballfield

No we wouldn't. There have been gay players in the past that we knew about and still supported. Hell, David Beckham was Metrosexual and often wore women's underwear from what I heard when he was still at United. This was out in the public and not only did we still watch football, but United didn't lose any supporters as far as I know. What DOES rattle us a bit is when it's all a player talks about. It's your sexuality, we don't care if you're gay, straight, bisexual or attracted to extra terrestrials from Mars, just FUCKING PLAY. We came to see football, not a football player talk about his sexuality.
So if a footballer was out in public with their boyfriend u think no one would talk about it
@@ashleyw6728 Nobody would care, maybe back in 2010 this would've been relevant but after 2018 nobody would even bat an eye if a footballer came out. We just want to see them play the game and do what they're paid to do. I wish the media thought the same, but for some reason they consider a footballer's sexuality newsworthy.

@@ashleyw6728 Why would they? I can't speak for everyone, but most football fans wouldn't care. Maybe that 8% needs changing to 1%. The only people who would care is The Sun and their readers, nobody else is that obsessed with a footballer they'll likely never even meet in the flesh anyway.
