    To be honest most of zhichar at coffeeshop they do sell KL hokkien mee. I feel it damn delicious, whenever i go to zhichar to make a take away now a days i keep ordering KL hokkien mee

    There’s another AhWa Hokkien Mee nearby 5 mins away at Paramount. Try that! It’s my default.

    The usual style is to eat with sambal chilli. But I bucked this trend n eat with pickled green chillies. The sweet n sour chillies really complements the salty smoky noodles. Recommend to try out this combo.

    I am always amazed how much you can eat. Respect for that. The only thing what you can try to pay attention to is your english language. I am sorry but sometimes I hardly cannot understand what you are saying. Especially when you’re talking during eating. But for the rest..keep on going!

    Only the first few plates near you is up to standard by sight , the ones nearer to the camera are wet .. those you find in Singapore Zi Cha trying to emulate won’t do because they don’t have the time it takes to dry up the noodle of all the essence of the stock they’re cooked in .

    Bro, if you have the chance. Go to this place in outskirt KL, Restoran Shang Kee (Ulu Yam Lor Mee). I’m from SG and this is the best ever authentic KL Hokkien mee & Lor mee ever. It 30 mins drive to Genting too!

    i think the reason why singapore zi char stalls version is wet, is because they got no time to let the noodles soak in the gravy. one of the stall assistant told me they don't sell KL hokkien mee during peak hours because it takes some time to cook it properly.

    I love sg hokkien mee. But KL hokkien mee is like a different dish. No need to compare. There are great KL hokkien mee but it is overall more oily.

    I can't appreciate this type of hokkien mee leh, The singapore version is abit bland for me - even with ingredients, so kudos to you, hokkien mee must be better than SG version. 🙊

      Actually we also have black one la, but good old school traditional ones are hard to find especially when our signature representative of hokkien mee has been the white char hae mee. Elaine if u like 重口味 probably dark soy sauce cooked food would hit your secret spot 😋
      As replied in another comment:
      Closer comparison would be sg traditional black Hokkien mee found in many tze char stalls and home cooks (but only those traditional/old school cooks can replicate the taste well), literally using Hokkien mee (broad ‘cooked’ yellow mee as wide as mee pok, same type used in lor mee) and condiments found in SG/KL Hokkien mee. The main difference of KL version using thick round mee - dai luk meen is the main distinguishing factor between both traditional orh lu lu Hokkien mees

    my Singaporean wife loves my kl hokkien mee too but still my sgp 12:22 hokkien mee gets her tick. There is too much sweetness in my klhm so she prefers the sgphm lack of sweetness more. msians love our hm whilst sgphm is preferred by sgp folks. Thanks for helping us decide.

    Sorry but I worked in SG before , i can tell you any hawker food in KL can easily beat SG, no matter what you all say. Off course KL version is less healthy but taste wise, no way SG can claim is better than KL.

      As a Malaysian, these 2 versions are completely different in style and should be treated differently. Hokkien mee in Penang is "Prawn mee" and its not even the same dish!
