Twelve monarchies but not all are Kingdoms, seven Kingdoms, three principalities, Luxembourg is a grand duchy and Vatican city is an elective monarchy.
Europe has seven kingdoms, plus the Vatican. Norway and Denmark have royal families too. Sweden was an empire but after that "no beef" as you say. 1814 was the last war sweden had: it was with norway. Cold war wasnt an actual war though and winter war was just in finland :) Some swedes did volunteer though in finnish wars and we send our children to sweden in particular to safety. some never returned.
A small correction though, the "some swedes" was actually 10.000 so called "volunteers" and don't forget that Sweden lost Finland to Russia in 1809. That WAS a proper war.
@bigjtq9176 yes, that wasnt the last war Sweden fought when they lost Finland to Russia. after that there was a war with norway. Why did you put "volunteers", were they not voluntarily there?
@@SK-nw4ig Officially yes. However they were part of the regulars and experienced that volunteered. So they wasn't forced but it wasn't just "anyone" even though some of those were there too, but very few.
Finland is probably the closest to Sweden. It's like a Swedish landscape. After all, it has been Swedish longer than Finland existed, about 600 years Finland was a part of Sweden.
I give that place to Norway if I am forced to chose. Denmark is high to because it’s still something special between the Scandinavian countries on an even higher level than the Nordics. But the relations to Iceland and ofcourse Finland is completely amazing to ❤️ I find it likely that the friendship between the nordic countries is uniq for the entire world.
Visit Stockholm during june-september. More tourists, but usually better weather. I know you like winter, but it's very unreliable to get good winter weather in Stockholm and other parts of sweden this far south. You could take the train or fly to Kiruna at the Northernmost parts of Sweden during the winter months though. Its best during february - april. Check out some videos about Kiruna. Very interesting place even though its remote and rural. Good infrastructure too, on account of it being a Mining town.
following countries in Europe still have Monarchs: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, The Netherlands, Great Britain, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Monaco , the oldest Monarchy in Europe as in the same family ruling is in Denmark is goes back more than 1000 years
Sweden was quite involved in supporting Finland in the Winter War.. But didn't want to make it "stand out" too much.. Keep in mind, the Soviet Union & Nazi Germany were allies at the time.. Risking taking the both on at the same time.. I doubt any nation would have liked to try that at that time..🤔
The Wasa war ship sank like a stone. So did Henry 8's proud "Great Harry". About a century earlier. In England.... Both ships were too top heavy, with too many cannons onboard. Live and learn ! 😂❤
The flags of Grand Hotel should be arranged as follows: Sweden in the middle, and then alternating countries between right and left in alphabetical order as they're spelled in french.
There a lot of Americans out there on YT who talks about the world outside America. If I was them I would shut up if I had so little knowledge about the world outside their own kitchen window. It's ambarresing for them, but they don't understand it. From Norway
There are some misconceptions. As stated by some, Sweden was an empire during the 1600 to 1700, Sweden was the largest in Europe, covering Finland, Norway, the Baltic countries plus parts of Russia, Germany and even some parts of Poland. During WW2 it's mostly claimed that Sweden was "neutral". This is untrue. First; Sweden sent all there modern military equipment to Finland plus 10.000 so called "volunteers" to assist Finland in the winter war against Russia. Second; Sweden was also very proficient in SIGINT (Signal Intelligence) towards both Russia but especially against Germany. Sweden did then forward/exchange intelligence with the Allies, after 1940. Third; Sweden did also help with aircraft maintenance of the Allies P38, Spitfires and B22 bombers that emergency landed in Sweden after bomb runs over Germany. So yes, Sweden is not all it shows. As a matter of fact. Sweden has one of the worlds longest classified times among any democracy. The standard is 70 (YES SEVENTY!) years and on some documents, even up to 150 years. Of course documents can be released earlier however they have to be fully scrutinized and approved for release first.
People did indeed die on that ship. Drowned as she said. Ballast design error lol. I love that ship. It was such an embarrassment at the time but it sure is funny now. Got to be able to laugh at yourself (or your ancestors) sometime.
Just UK having a king? You will probably get chocked over the amount of royal families in Europe 😁 Our king we have now have been king for over 50 years. We are working on beating the world record UK have ;) The flags order have nothing to do with that tho.
Sweden is one of the strongest democracies in the world. The Swedish people would never give their king as much power as the American people give their president. They would never accept lawlessness and have the constitutional right to depose their king.
Don't be too impressed with the warship "Vasa". It capsized and sank on it's maiden voyage (like 1300 meters away from the pier, or something. The Swedish Navy's proudest moment). It's true that it was the most powerfully armed warship, but it never saw any action. :O)
Americans....the world is not revolving around you. Be humble enough to keep mouth closed, think to 10 before speaking and change that irritating I know it all attitude
This is a romanticized image of Stockholm. It is a very beautiful city of course but also very brutal and - during the summer months - incredibly crowded with stressed people

You should really visit Sweden, Norway, and Estonia, there's so much to see there.
Might surprise you, BUT you can also visit Buckingham palace in London where British Monarchs live ;)
Finland is probably the closest to Sweden. It's like a Swedish landscape. After all, it has been Swedish longer than Finland existed, about 600 years Finland was a part of Sweden.
Norway?
I would say Norway is closer because of the language and we share a border to them to
@karolinaastrom1469 nej för Finland har ju en del samma högtider mm. Norge har inte alls samma .
The huge building with the flags are Grand Hotel Stockholm. 5 Star Hotel

Sweden is like the ”snob” bigbrother to Finland. They used to rule us but… things happened.
You’re welcome over here anytime!

Finland almost got a king... visit the museum in Kemi (Kemin jalokivigalleria) and see the royal crown! 👑

Think about it, this film was only about Stockholm...then we have the rest of Sweden which is absolutely just as nice. Just saying =)
Dont mind, we real finns certainly dont mind either that you dont know a lot about Sweden hahah. You will survive here well. 💪🏼🇫🇮

The flags on the hotel building represent the nationalities of the current guests staying there.
