From Stockholm Sweden here, I love to see my country from other peoples eyes. It helps me to see the beauty of my every day life. Best regards from Sweden 💙💛

Thanks for a great reaction to my hometown, Stockholm! Something that a lot of Canadians don't realize is how far South they live, especially compared to countries in Northern Europe like Norway, Sweden and Finland.
Like for instance, Vancouver Island is on the latitude 49.6°, while Stockholm and Oslo is at 59°, and Helsinki at 60°. All of these capitals are in the south of their respective countries. Even Ystad, in the very south of Sweden is at 55°.
Vancouver Island is even further South than cities like London (51°), Berlin (52°), Prague (50°) and just slightly further North than Paris (48°).
Thanks to the Gulf stream the temperatures in Europe are milder in North America on the same latitudes.
I really recommend this video: "Living with the Dark Winters in Sweden | Midnight sun & Polar night"
to get a glimpse of Northern Sweden, it's a very beautiful video. She doesn't live in the _very_ North though, but around 63°.

Stockholm is not called "beauty on water". I have never heard it and I lived there for 8 years. It is sometimes called the "Venice of the North".

My family has lived in or near Stockholm for +100 years. "Staden på vatten" = City on water - possibly, in folders for tourists. Some major errors, or outdated facts. Most is true. But, of course all ugly places was left out (as well as some nice). And the 7 not so nice months...

Beauty on water is new to me too. Never heard of the Queen of Lake Mälaren either. She isn't known in Göteborg.

I'm from Göteborg (Sweden's 2nd largest city) on the west coast, and it is a beautiful city in its own right, but Stockholm is truly amazing and well worth a visit.

You are welcome. Canadian citizens are very popular in Sweden.
With you, we can talk about tough winters, big forests, real wilderness, something that we have in common.
Stockholm is at the same latitude as Inukjuat in Canada and the southern tip of Greenland.
We also share the Arctic Circle, which runs through northern Sweden.
Toronto is on the same latitude as Florence in Italy.
Sweden's northernmost city Kiruna is on the same latitude
such as Rebulse Bay in northern Canada.

Stockholm is really nice, In my opinion, the best city in Sweden. I live in the south of Sweden. Not bad here but Stockholm is Nr 1.

Stockholm was not founded in 1252, just mentioned for the first time, it was probably founded in the 1240's

    • @lahan3628

No, it was founded in 1252 so that's correct.

@@lahan3628 Nope, the original comment was correct. The oldest document we have mentioning Stockholm which is Sigtuna's city rights charter is from 1252 because the documents in Stockholm were lost when the palace burned. Stockholm is however very obviously well established by this time, as signing Sigtuna's city charter and sending it from Stockholm means that it has already supplanted Sigtuna as the capital. While there are some remnants of fortifications from the 900:s Stockholm is built somewhere between 1190 and 1240, we don't know exactly when due to the fire.
However the traditional date of 1252 is obviously completely wrong as Birger Jarl of course wouldn't send a city rights charter to what used to be the capital from a place he just dreamt up.

Well, as a resident of BC you just have to visit Sweden and see for yourself where like half the Canuck players grew up.

One thing I don't understand about the original video is why she has such a heavy accent when there are so many Swedes speaking really good English. Maybe it's by design - to sound exotic? 🤔
