Spoiler warning for the Injustice comic series I'm pretty sure this Joker is from an alternate universe where things were normal (as much as normal can get in the DC universe). Batman needed to summon the aid of another version of the Justice League (minus Superman) in order to unlock a weapon capable of taking down Superman, the one he found was in the middle of battling the Joker but seeing as how he didn't have much time decided to teleport everyone from the battlefield into the Injustice universe, including the Joker. The Joker in the Injustice 2 game is most probably that Joker.
