My existing light fixture has a ground, a white and a red. It looked like the short black wire had been capped off. It wasn't a motion sensor light or anything. What should I connect to what?
Do you have multiple switches that control the light? Youd have to figure out how it’s wired or just do it by trial and error. Use the red as the hot and cap the black. If that doesn’t work then use the black and cap the red.

How has the longevity of this light been for you? Any issues?
So far so good other than 2 times it didn’t sense the motion of my car in the driveway. But other than that it’s been good
