    So you recommend turning ibis off when shooting video?

    • @waynebonilla
      @waynebonilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yup! Turn it off man. I know it’s counter intuitive, but it was the culprit in the warping effect.

    Not sure how much longer I can hold off buying this lens but I just bought the Samyang 12mm and, at the end of last year, I bought the Nocticron 42.5 so I should try and hold out a while longer 😂

    • @waynebonilla
      @waynebonilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      😂I know the struggle man. But, if you are happy with the 12mm, you are at least covered in the wide angle range. Maybe go on the telephoto side first. I’m saving to invest in one also.

    What’s your opinion in using it for interviews in tight spaces and low light concerts, do you have any examples? I am actually using the tokina 11-16 2.8 and it’s really soft wide open and almost got to go 5.6 or higher to get decent image and the widest can go with no vignetting is around 13-14

    Great video! We're your test footage handheld or with a gimbal? I use this lens with the g85 and I notice some jitters when I am walking. Not sure if it's because of the gimbal but I do the "ninja" walk. I have IBIS off as well as e-stabilization.

    • @waynebonilla
      @waynebonilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man, I have not shot with the G85 yet, but I know what you mean! I still get that sometimes. It sounds like you already know what you are doing, so the only thing I would doublecheck is the balance of your cam. Also, I know the G85 is lighter than the GH5, so try adding weight, maybe add a battery grip. It sounds counter intuitive but weight helps with micro jitters. Lastly, shooting at a higher framerate helps! I shot most of the test shots at 4k 60 and conformed it to 24fps in post. I hope that helps 🤙🏽.

    • @waynebonilla
      @waynebonilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man, that's a dolly-in or push-in. I did that handheld using this technique th-cam.com/video/Bj24pdXrGx4/w-d-xo.html at around 7:04. I also shot this at 4k 60fps and conformed it to 24fps to get a slow motion shot. I hope that helped! 🤙🏽

  • @ThomasBui02721
    @ThomasBui02721 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you use a gimbal for the footage at the end? How does the lens do for stabilization? Looking for a wide-angle lens to film a running toddler. Was thinking this for the budget or the Leica 8-18mm for the stabilization. Thoughts?

    • @waynebonilla
      @waynebonilla  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honesty, I would not get this if I'm chasing a child around. All of the shots I have here were shot using a gimbal and in the video I already showed an example of what it looks like hand held walking around. I do not have an experience with the 8-18 yet, so I can't comment on that, but if you don't already own a Lumix 12-35, I would suggest going with that, I did I review if you want to see why I would recommend it th-cam.com/video/LkNsBz_5bgw/w-d-xo.html.

    I got this lens for my landscape and architecture photography, but now the excitement is gone and disappointed has set after getting some pretty soft images on my last vacation. It seems like everyone has a perfectly good lens, but for a few unlucky (like me) that have focusing issues. The first few meters are sharp and then falls a bit out of focus. Seems to be the problem described on a couple of forums like dpreview

    • @waynebonilla
      @waynebonilla  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Claudiu Stancu oh man... I’m sorry to hear that bro. Thank you for posting here, at least people know one more thing they need to watch out for. Were you able to exchange or return it?

    • @claudius8002
      @claudius8002 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wayne Bonilla I just thought people should know about this issue. Reached out to the seller, I might have gotten a bad copy (and some other people on the internet). Focus peaking in my camera shows almost everything in focus, focus marker is at infinity, but when I import the images in my computer they look soft. Tried short shutter speeds, long SS, auto IS, IS off (on the tripod). Don’t know what to think of it. Never had issues with my other lenses when using manual focus.
      Please advise.

    • @waynebonilla
      @waynebonilla  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey @@claudius8002, I think you have done all of the things I would tried also, i.e. stopping down the lens, using focus peak, and messing with the shutter. If I were in your shoes, I would certainly try returning or exchanging the lens. Good luck man!
