Couldn’t have said it better! My eyes are teary just watching this. I’m from Ohio, not to far from where he’s laid to rest, it’s my plan the next time I go back home to pay my respects. His, and the Cars, music is the playlist of my life pretty much. 😢 🕊️ 🌹 🙏🏻 💟
He looks so tired. Poor guy. Still a "dreamboat" for that person who made the rude comment. It's not all about looks. He's still beautiful in my eyes. His gorgeous voice and fantastic talent. He might look unwell or unhappy but he still had the guts to keep singing, playing and writing music til the end. His sweet soul and spirit is what draws us in. There are so many good things written about this man. If the package is pretty and the inside is ugly no girl in her right mind would stay with that for long. Any woman would have been lucky to be with him. We all get old. Gray hair, wrinkles, gut, hair loss, health issues etc. None of us will look like our 20's or 30's or in our teens again.
What you said is true. I think ppl can be beautiful at any age, even after 70, but I'd take Benjamin Orr, here, even with weight gain, over all those pretty boys I see today on the t v, flexing their hard abs and muscles around. I hate vain show offs and Benjamin was never like that. He seemed so sweet. He would've aged well had he not become sick.
he would be dead a little over a year later as his battle with pancreatic cancer would come to an end.. this was almost like during a remission when he went out and tried the tour but he wasn't able to keep in shape his body was riddled by cancer but he gave it all he had one last time
Ben really allowed his personality to come through at this stage-he was dry and cutting, maybe a little more cynical…. He still sounds incredible smooth and resonant-his voice is like warm brandy with honey. By this age, he’s less concerned with cutting a sexy pose, but his beauty nonetheless shines. This man really carried the Light. 🙏🏾❤️
One of the most underrated musicians , his voice was incredible, he could make it sound like honey was poured into a microphone and how amazing did he sound performing this. I find when watching this I feel so many emotions, Benjamin should have been performing at huge venues and how I wish he did not have to pass away with pancreatic cancer just as he and his band Big People were getting to be successful, his life and future was looking so bright, filled with so much to come. He had a loving partner , a young son to watch over and his musical career finally taking off again. It seems so unfair that all this was taken away from him. Damn cancer. I don't know about feeling sad about Diane... I heard SHE dumped him 😢. Poor guy. Any woman would be blessed to have him. I think she took advantage of him and moved on... 😡
No if you read the biography Diane states what happen between them, and she was successful in her own right Benjamin said, she was the love of his life....She got to meet him before he passed. he was sick at the time.
Purple Sunflower if in fact he said that she should have kept it to herself because Ben was so private. And very disrespectful to Julie the woman he was with when he died and who took care of him when he was so sick and after all the glamour was over. D had her own agenda I feel
It's a year later, and I've learned a few things. He had periods where he'd go silent and shut down to his significant other(s). I identify this as depression, and it most likely had something to do with his women leaving him. You're right--Diane was successful in her own right and highly educated. She co-created his album The Lace and wrote lyrics. He had stated that lyric writing was his weak spot.
No don t think he was sick then.....He is so unflashy and he Gigged at the big stadiums during his rock career......New generations poss not know who he is...WE STILL LOVE YOU BENJAMIN .....
Purple Sunflower I know who he is I'm 33 though but my daughter is a kid and she knows who he is because I've shown her all eighties stuff she loves it she doesn't like today's music.
@@NESherv Causes of pancreatic cancer are not known. Sometimes it runs in families. The nicotine & drinking probably did not help, though. I have knowledge about this bc my father & uncle both passed from cancer. (Colon & Liver), so I am a high risk for the disease. I've read a lot about various cancers & my sister, a registered nurse for 35 years has a wealth of knowledge about cancers. Please people get screened if you notice sudden weight changes, mole discoloration, or blood in urine/stool. Get yearly gynecology checkups (women), bc ovarian & breast cancer can be treated in early stages. Men get yearly prostate & colon check ups. Men can get breast cancer also. There have been a lot of improvements in treatment since Benjamin passed in 2000. Cancer touches all of us, its scary, but preventative care extends lives ! RIP sweet Benjamin. 🕊💕🎸🎶
In many of his candid photos, he has a cigarette. It is believed that cigarette smoking increases the odds of developing pancreatic cancer according to the American Cancer Society. Cancer sucks. So sad it got him. He was a treasure.
Been Re Capping on the Cars lately learning more about Guys in the band. I bought my first Cars Cassette I was jr in High School 79-80 had so many good songs on it and didnt know that there was 2 singers in the band up till few weeks ago Ive been watching a lot of Cars and Ben Orr Videos here on the Tube one of my Favorites Cars at Live Aid 85 Ben sang Drive man he looked good and Voice was perfect Band sounded really good you can tell he was on top of the World that day at age of 38 he and the Band payed their Dues of Decades of Hard Work
Tracey, a couple of days ago I was looking at another video you posted from this show, and I was thinking about asking you if others would be posted. You must of been reading my mind. Thanks for doing this! Happy New Year!
"...I had a solo album once... still have it, can't take *that* away from me." Breaks my heart to hear him say this. Why would he say such a thing. Who took what away from him? I don't know whether to feel sad or angry. But he looks incredibly unhappy here. He looks apathetic, like someone else said, like he'd rather be anywhere else. I hope we're wrong, that he had found some joy that night.
I thought the same thing. So sad for that comment. I think he may have been a bit depressed at this time & he was partying a lot then according to friends...coming to terms that the glory days of thousands of adoring fand & arena tours were over and he is playing in bars, aging & looks fading, partying heavily to forget, fill the void. & dull the pain. This was in 1998 so around the time he was seperating from a 4 yr relationship with his sons mother. He would meet his fiance a year later in 1999, a year before we lost him so we can hope that finding that love brought peace and happiness to him.
I think he might have been referring to the Car's management and/or record company taking away his rights to sing Cars songs and giving him a hard time about it. In the last few years he seemed to only sing the same very few Cars songs all the time. I hope someday the whole story is told, but I guess that's not likely at all.
Selena Diaz so sad, I bet had he not smoked he wouldn't have aged much at all, kept his looks and not gotten sick. I am totally anti smoking now because my mother died in April from smoking related cancer.
Rest in peace Ben. What you gave the world in music does not compare to what you received in the presence of the Lord. You now have a choir of angels to back you up and shoot the breeze with Rick Ocasek on how simple and silly life was compared to the after life.

Grande Benjamin Orr! 😔🙏♥️
STÀY TONITE /WE MISS U BEN !!!
Saudades de Benjamin Orr
Que voz

Essa música é muito boa. Esse cara era muito afinado. Infelizmente não está entre nós.🙏🙏🙏
I miss you Ben Orr .. terribly
Wow, he has a Laconia Bike Week shirt on :) I saw him in Peabody Ma, which was a similar venue.
I know! I couldn't believe he had a Laconia Bike Week shirt, near my hometown! He lived in Vermont for a while and a road a Harley
I wish I could have been there that night!!
What a Voice.........
This is sad to watch, there is like 30 people in the audience and Ben looks like he would like to be anywhere but there.
globalimage yes. Sad. You can see from his body language and him smoking that he couldn't be bothered. Was he sick then?
Siobhan Murphy yes but he probably wasn’t aware yet this concert was 26 months before he died
No don t think he was sick then.....He is so unflashy and he Gigged at the big stadiums during his rock career......New generations poss not know who he is...WE STILL LOVE YOU BENJAMIN .....
I don't see that.. He actually looks like he's having a good time with the audience
Purple Sunflower I know who he is I'm 33 though but my daughter is a kid and she knows who he is because I've shown her all eighties stuff she loves it she doesn't like today's music.
What a talent...
Este homem com o passar dos tempos ficou cada vez mais

Sadly I was born in 97 never got a chance to see the legend himself But sure enough He is being remember by Millennials and we live on R.I.P Sir
So sad. Barely two years later he was gone. (Never knew he was a smoker?)
Yeah, unfortunately he was a frequent smoker. It's probably what caused the cancer more than anything else. Such a shame.
A mate of mine passed from it..never smoked or drank..a Buddhist 💖
@@NESherv It is. People think it only causes lung cancer, but its often pancreatic that kills smokers, including my Dad.
Bless This Wonderful Talent......and Bless is strealth and Values....RIP You Wonderfuld man and Talent...........Tim n Tina..xoxo

Tracey, a couple of days ago I was looking at another video you posted from this show, and I was thinking about asking you if others would be posted. You must of been reading my mind. Thanks for doing this! Happy New Year!
Hi Cynthia, you're so welcome.. Thank you and Happy New Year to you..
A you tube channel called sweetpurplejune has the whole concert
pammyla66 great site!
Just two years after this, he would be gone ... Rest easy Benjamin.
Is he crying?😢
Best voice and so beautiful, RIP Benjamin ❤
He smoked and was a social heavy drinker all his life. Sadly, I think that caused pancreatic cancer diagnosed one year later in 99. Missed guy.
"...I had a solo album once... still have it, can't take *that* away from me."
Breaks my heart to hear him say this.
Monica Wall there’s an article about this very performance wherein he explains he only had permission to do certain Cars songs...
Selena Diaz so sad, I bet had he not smoked he wouldn't have aged much at all, kept his looks and not gotten sick. I am totally anti smoking now because my mother died in April from smoking related cancer.
I believe his guard was down. It was a small crowd, he was probably tired ,had a few beers and didn’t really care who heard.
ESTA MÚSICA É LINDA E QUE VOZ TEM ESTE CANTOR BENJAMIN, PENA QUE NÃO ESTÁ MAIS PERTO DE NÓS, DESCANSE EM PAZ.
Such a wonderful singer and great 🎸 ist. What an inspiration. 💕💕💕
Ric & Ben, together again this time in heaven
Eres y serás leyenda mi hermoso bejamin orr 😍😘
When a heart cries out to the wilderness long enough another heart answers
Rest in peace Ben. What you gave the world in music does not compare to what you received in the presence of the Lord. You now have a choir of angels to back you up and shoot the breeze with Rick Ocasek on how simple and silly life was compared to the after life.
Love this song.
Eu também😍
Amado eternamente pelo Brasil e mundo
I see Ben fiening for a smoke and sipping a beer and WEARING tattoo and I'm thinking, He may be a kind sweet pretty boy but He's actually cooler than I thought. as well. R.I.P. BO
Yeah really cool. That lifestyle led him to an early grave.
Tracey gracias por subir esta joya.
Ben hizo muy buena musica.
He missed the second verse in this performance, but he and this song are awesome.
Maravilloso
This theme and drive were his best songs 🎵
miss you Ben ...kids - don't smoke
Belíssima essa música
He was sick already. In early stages of the cancer. He might have not known it yet.
