I would never have been able to remove the basket and freezer drawer without this video. I needed to replace the ice maker and tried to do it with everything in place. After frustrating hours, I googled and found this gem. Thank you for your knowledge.
Thank you! I struggled with this rack for a good 20 minutes before my girlfriend was fed up with my swearing and "no I don't need help, I've got it" and she did a quick TH-cam search. She showed me the video and you saved the day.
I was a member on the forum back in the day. Thank you again for another great lesson/reminder. Your info and the insight from the forum has helped me immensely, as a customer and as an appliance technician. Thank you again, and thank you for the reminder.
I love you. The repair guy put it back it crooked. the freezer kept popping open and we couldn't figure out how to get the rack in straight without this video. Seriously. This video is a kindness.
Thank you so very much! I watched other videos explaining how to replace the ice maker, but they all struggled around the wire top basket. I put your link in those other two ice maker replacement videos because it made it way, way better to take this out first. Thanks!
Sir, thank you so much for this video. You saved me tons of time and the probability of breaking something. This was exactly the help I needed and I got my repair done. Now if you could tell me why every 2 or 3 years my coils freeze up and how to prevent that I would be eternally grateful!
just want i needed - it enabled me to fix the ice maker without an expensive service call - would never have figured it out on my own many thanks - tony
I was at my wit's end trying to get the baskets out of the freezer. This video was a godsend that enabled me to completely remove the door and baskets of my freezer and finally get it really clean. Thank you so much for this.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!! I have been trying to find this information for hours, and I do mean hours! Right now I have 7 tabs open trying to find out how to remove the bottom freezer drawer and racks of my Maytag fridge. Not even the Maytag website had anything. I was beyond frustrated when your video came up. You are a sanity saver.
You saved the day - THANK YOU!!! Quarantined, with a full freezer and something fell to the bottom and I couldn’t close the freezer. 🤦🏻♀️ Tried to figure it out on my own for a while, and I was getting panicky. I cannot afford to lose everything in my freezer. I found your video and was able to get the drawer out in the item removed within minutes. You’re a lifesaver!
thank you!!! I tried online chat support and they kept telling me they wanted to send out a service tech. can't afford that. you are THE BEST!! I'm a woman who never did anything like this before and you made it so understandable. a million thanks. i was able to shoot hot water into the drain and suck it back out with a syringe until the ice clogged drain cleared. THANK YOU
When we reassembled the drawers we ran into another problem. The top rack went in askew. As a result on corner stuck out and the main drawer door did not fully close. To avoid this when you put the rack back in slide it all the way in and then pop the 2 clips back down. That ensures that when the cogs engage they are aligned.
On behalf of our facilities employee, thanks! Someone had put some sodas in the freezer and forgot about them and they exploded and made a terrible mess. Getting this rack out was proving difficult for him. Thanks again!
What a great video! I looked all over for kitchenaid fridge repairs and all the other models used a stopper instead. I could not figure out how to get the freezer drawer out to clean out the ice in the back of the panel but your video saved the day!
I've replaced our ice maker three times before. This time I've started and stopped in fustration three times trying to get this rack out. The second you pointed you the white box in the back I had a huge "OH S*&T!!!!!" moment...............And I'm on extra strength Prevagen! Thanks for the wake-up call!
thanks, you just saved me over $1000, if the fridge stopped working we needed a new stove! ice buildup in the freezer was the issue. Freezer working fridge not cold was the issue.
Great help with this video! Thank God for people like you to help with these ridiculous designs that the manufacturers use. You saved the day and possibly further damage to the drawer from my frustration. 👍🏼🙏
I am having this fridge and there is water leaking out from the bottom, I saw a previous video where you mentioned that the issue was the condensate drain. However I am seeing actual water coming down from the left side of the top corner of the fridge, any idea what this could be?
Thank you! Exactly what I needed! I put glass soda bottles in the freezer and they exploded because I forgot them in there! 😅 so I really needed to clean under the bins and all around the freezer.
Before I found your video, I was ready to get out a sledgehammer to take out the drawer and rails. Whirlpool gives absolutely no instructions on any of this anywhere. Thanks again.
Dude, thank you for making this video, I was NOT going to get that top rack off until I saw your video, it was the 4 tabs over the gears, that I wasn't figuring out and this helped so much. Gave you a like and subscription
I just cannot! I can lift each side off the plastic track, but it seems the plastic piece in front stops it from coming out/forward. Do you lift straight up? The back of the drawer or the front? One comment mentioned 4 screws. I removed the front 2. Help!
Saved the day! Couldn’t figure it out ! Have to defrost the back. Ice build up. Bad fan? Not pulling cold air up to fridge part. Fridge is warm. This is the second time we have done this. Had to do it 3 months ago too. Bad fan or coil?
Helped with reseating the gears that a kid somehow skipped a tooth in and the door wouldn't fully close. Wish I'd found this the 1st time I took the freezer apart for a clogged defrost drain. Totally unscrewed the door off the track instead of pressing in those 2 tabs. Thanks! Tip for others: the axel on the bottom drawer/door. The right side gear wheel does pressure clip in even though it seemed to just loose itself with no help while I had it all apart.
Thank you for this gift of knowledge. The basket had been an enormous vexation as it prevented me from getting to compartment below and the floor of the freezer where a spill had occurred. At the moment, the appliance reassembled and ready to have items placed within, I can relax knowing the job is done, and with temperatures in the 20s today, there is no hurry to empty the coolers wherein I placed items. Thank you, you shall be toasted with my next beer.
Really helpful. Thanks very much! This step was missing from a similar repair video and caused some frustration from not understanding how to get this all out. Excellent video.
Hi. This was very helpful! For that same type refrigerator, so you know how to remove the drain pan/tray? It keeps leaking into the freezer and then freezing in the freezer starting to cause a puddle in my kitchen floor. Help... thanks. ☺️
Hi! Do you know if it is recommended to paint that white wire basket? If so what kind of painting? Mine is already peeling like this and I refuse to update. Thank you!!!
Very helpful! I had the screws out but was stuck on what to do next. Hit TH-cam for help and found your video. No worries about the shaky camera you got the point across and helped me. Thanks again!! BTW mine is a Kenmore Elite but it seems to be exactly the same. I had to unplug the drain under the coils and found another video for that. That guy was fixing an LG and it looked like the drawer slides were the same on that freezer too.
Thanks, did it for my parents, without your video I would have no idea. I was able to push it in 1 tab at a time, but it requires a lot of force. We have a Whirlpool fridge
My fingers could not depress those side tabs enough to lift those rear brackets, so I was forced to use the tip of a small screwdriver to "gently" push those tabs in enough (not enough to destroy them) to raise up those brackets. That did it for me. Good video... saved me a lot of trouble when replacing my ice maker...
Great video. I'm struggling with the tabs in back, They don't seem to want to budge. They're in the up position. Do I push the tabs in, Don't want to break them. I know once I release them, I can just pull out the drawers..
I just did this and it was a bit of a pain. Flat head screwdriver and with a fair bit of force I pushed the first tab in and up just a tiny fraction. Then moved carefully to the second one (the first one has a tendency to pop back if you nudge it at all) and press hard back and up. Even then it took a bit to release it but it did work okay.
May have just saved my marriage ... I had the two screws out but probably would have broken the rest of it 'figuring it out.' Arigato, SamuraiRepairman !
Super...many thanks. Those two tabs on each side of the top rack were a PITA for me but got it done. They were not grimy or dirty, just very difficult to push them both in simultaneously in order to lift the bracket up a 1/4 inch. I imagine if they were at room temp it might have been easier....seriously though this helped tremendously.
As a woman I could say thank you I’m sitting here trying to repair my fridge it doesn’t get cold anymore And I have to go in through the freezer to fix it this explained it to the tea and I now know how to do it because of you thank you
Samurai was totally correct but I had to press those tabs with something hard and get one to catch/hold then do the second before each side would release. Thanks!!
Great video. I'm struggling with the tabs in back, They don't seem to want to budge. They're in the up position. Do I push the tabs in, Don't want to break them. I know once I release them, I can just pull out the drawer..... Perhaps someone else can answer my question. who figured this out. Can't be that difficult, which puts me in idiot category. Thanks, Ron
The tabs need to come out of the holes so you can slide the piece up. I pushed one tab in with a screwdriver and slightly pulled the piece up on one side then did the same for the other tab. Then slide the piece straight up. It only slides up about a 1/2 inch. It should look like this @1:35
Thank you very much for the tip! Everything worked fine as per the video. I have two different printed guides from Maytag for my refrigerator-freezer and neither of them address removing shelves, dividers, doors, etc. Apparently they don't want the owner trying to perform simple tasks on their appliances. They probably want the homeowner to spend money calling a repair person.
My question is how to get the entire railing assemblies off the two sides after basket and drawer slide has been removed? I need to remove the metal panel at the back of the fridge to get at that condenser element, which is full of ice, which keeps freezing and thawing and causing water to run out onto the floor. The railing assembly is too close to that panel to just undo the screws which hold it in place and lift that panel out.(My approach to getting the top basket out was a bit different, I slightly loosened the two screws at the front and that was enough so that when I slid the basket forward I was able to lift it up and out. Then took out the bottom basket by removing the center plastic divider; then I undid the w screws holding the door to the rack bracket.) Great video, btw! Thanks.
Thank you for saving my freezer from my wrath! Bad enough that my idiot of a roommate blew up a can in there. Then I couldn't get the rack out! 🤬 You're a lifesaver, brother! Thank you!
I have this same refrigerator. The coil keeps freezing up and then my refrigerator gets warm. I unplug the fridge, defrost it and it happens again a few weeks later. I was thinking possibly the control board or bimetal? Element maybe? Anything else I can check? Is there a way to manually put the fridge into defrost? Your help would be appreciated.
Bigcal44 It will be either the control, element or bimetal. These can all be tested to determine which is bad. We can help you do this in the Appliantology forums. This page will get you started there: appliantology.org/concierge/faq.html

Do you know how to replace the bulb?
I used the screw driver to push them in one by one while pulling it out. It did take a min to pop them off.
I was a member on the forum back in the day. Thank you again for another great lesson/reminder. Your info and the insight from the forum has helped me immensely, as a customer and as an appliance technician. Thank you again, and thank you for the reminder.

I used to Google for service manuals, but now I TH-cam first. This is EXACTLY what I needed to deep clean my Whirlpool. Thank you!
Great to hear!

Videos like these are so important. Thank you King. I never would have been able to clean behind there without you.

This is the best video I’ve found for removing the freezer bins. Thank you for a simple easy to follow video.
You saved the day - THANK YOU!!! Quarantined, with a full freezer and something fell to the bottom and I couldn’t close the freezer. 🤦🏻♀️ Tried to figure it out on my own for a while, and I was getting panicky. Thank you so much for this---my hubby and I were able to fix our own freezer because of you. So appreciated!
Most of the time I find a video that is "close enough" to what I need. Once in a while (like NOW!) I find one spot on!!!!! Thanks!!!!
i just spent an hour trying to do this myself. Took me only 5 mins after your video. Thank you.
Thank you, thank you! Power went out for 5 days and had a mess to clean in the freezer. Your vid was a huuuge help!
Thanks so much---got it out without the tips, but couldn't put it back. Should have saved 30 minutes and watched this first!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for this video!! I would've never gotten the freezer shelf out without it!
Finally areal complete and clear tutorial on these earful baskets!
I cannot upvote you enough, service guys just let the top tray loose and it was driving me crazy on how to put it back, thank you!!!
Glad to help!
You Sir, get the Mills Engine Works gold star of the day. ⭐ Thank you for sharing this with the world!
Thank you. I have to defrost the drain in behind the panel. Appreciate this video.
I really appreciate you taking the time to put this video together. I would have never figured it out on my own. Thanks!
Omg thank you. I’m trying to replace the evaporator fan and the feared are stopping me! 😭--so thankful for you & this video!
you are amazing. i was wrestling with my freezer for about 45 minutes and ready to call a pro. turns out, you’re the real pro 🥺
thanks, you just saved me over $1000, if the fridge stopped working we needed a new stove! ice buildup in the freezer was the issue. Freezer working fridge not cold was the issue.

Great help with this video! Thank God for people like you to help with these ridiculous designs that the manufacturers use. You saved the day and possibly further damage to the drawer from my frustration. 👍🏼🙏

Thanks for the video! I needed to clean the bottom of my freezer compartment, and this really helped me out!
Glad it helped!
Thanks so much for this very helpful video. I fought it for a day. Again you saved my sanity!!

I was finally successful using two flat-ended screwdrivers: one to hold tension on the bracket latches, one to push in the tabs.
Thank you very much. My comment would pretty much echo what everyone else has said. Just awesome!
tx! any idea how to move the divider in the basket?
great video, can the divider on the lower rack be removed
George Hart Yes. Start a new topic in the Kitchen forum at appliantology.org and we'll help you there.
which side are you pressing the tabs its unclear. The outside pushing in or the inside pushing out?
Thanks for the video, really helped me out this morning getting my rack out to "thaw" my 3 yr old Whirlpool, great tips

John Kruszon Glad to hear it helped, John!
Thank you so much but how in the world did you get those little taps in the back to cooperate?!!!!!
Thanks for the tip. I wish I looked here first before spending about 1/2 hour trying to figure out the trick
Glad I could help!
hi it's a very nice video. I am a little confused because the tabs on the freezer wont come up. Please answer thanks
Keep working at it, you'll get it.
Great video.

@@lailoallday You nailed it. That did it.Thanks much. I just was afraid I'd crack the tabs by pushing too hard.
@@lailoallday the screwdriver definitely helped.
Thank you so much. I couldn't have managed without your tutorial. Very helpful.
You can use a skinny flat head to pop up those back clips. Mine were VERY hard to use
Thanks, man. This thing was driving me crazy.
Thank you very much for the tip! Everything worked fine as per the video. I have two different printed guides from Maytag for my refrigerator-freezer and neither of them address removing shelves, dividers, doors, etc. Apparently they don't want the owner trying to perform simple tasks on their appliances. Worked like a charm
Thank you, sir. I wondered how the heck I was going to get out that drawer.
Thanks‼️ Happy wife, happy life.
Thank you- you saved the day!
How the heck do you get those little tabs to go in???????
Thank you for saving my freezer from my wrath!
Bad enough that my idiot of a roommate blew up a can in there. Then I couldn't get the rack out! 🤬
You're a lifesaver, brother! Thank you!
Thank you so much!! I'm not sure we could have figured it out with this video!
Perfect! Much thanks and all worked well.
Thanks man. This was killing me!
Exactly what we needed too. Thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
What size are the screws?
Would anyone know what size the 2 screws mentioned in the video are? Mine are missing and the rack moves all over. TIA
Thank you so much for putting the video on. Very helpful.
Very helpful, thank you! Exactly what we needed
