    I also think the free, free ,free also is similar to how someone who has escaped confinement reacts like leaving a prison or escaping a cage showing how marriage is a cage

    One point - at the end it is Josephine that cries out, not Louise. So I would imagine she is crying out because of her sister collapsing.

    I think that Mrs. Mallard's lack of control over her emotions in line 14-15 could be foreshadowing to her death because the lack of emotional control was her downfall

    New mature student here who's come to love literature analysis. I read, and analysed this wonderfully punchy and economic story, but having watched this analysis it's really encouraging that I managed to pick up on many of the things noticed here.
    New subscriber, and very glad I found this channel, combines clear insight with a warm accessibility. The channel must be really taking off.
    I'm hoping there's an analysis of Dorian Grey soon, co- incidentally my next assignment! Haha

    I was thinking about how she "sank" in to the "comfortable" armchair and i couldn't help but wonder if this verb could mean that she began to realize that she was happy but then it is said that she was upset so its like on one hand she is happy and on the other she is upset of her husband's death?

    Hi, i have a question. In the plot twist section of the video it was stated
    "he had been far from the scene of the accident"
    I think he refers to Brently Mallard and the scene refers to Josephine I think that also refers to her piercing cry.
    I think this because my English Language teacher told us she had fallen before Brently mallard had even entered the scene so the last words in the story
    "Of the joy that kills"
    she told us that it meant that she was so overjoyed with her own freedom that it had killed her but the doctors had claimed it to be joy from seeing her husband that had killed her.
    Im guessing that this itself is my teachers own interpretation and this video is you interpretation but you can add this because i think will add a new point of view to accept

      Really great story! I can't remember what she wrote after this, another great psychologival work I've been told, of which this seems to have acted as litmus test. I like to think she set herself the challenge of writing under 1000 words.

    It was a brilliat thorough explanation ✨ but I've a suggestion, why might a woman feel encaged in the ties of marriage and feel unhappy though she's loved and cared for by her husband? Or is it that conversely it was the society that she's bound to rather than her marriage..

    • @mrsrumsey
      @mrsrumsey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think it’s the restrictions placed on married women at this time that causes her feelings of entrapment. I feel her reaction reflects more poorly on the oppressiveness of marriage for women in general than it does say anything about her husband.
